I just wanted to share a situation I had endured with Jill K. Sanna (the owner ) at the New York School Of Esthetics. On may 7th, I went to be a model for lip blushing which was a big mistake. They botched my lips, the outlining is crooked and my lips have an orange tint. I reached out for a touch up and it took a month to get an appointment. The student wouldn't reply to rebook the touch up. Then Jill tells me she can't force a student to finish the job but she can fix my lips but I would have to pay $250 for the touch up. I was taken back by the response as if your student did not do a proper job you should be correcting their work and use it as a learning experience for the student. I was never informed that if I was unhappy or if the job was imporperly done that they would not fix it. I did ask what would happen if there was an issue when I got to the modeling appointment but the topic of the conversation was changed and my questions were never answered. The student is refusing to fix it and so in the instructor Jill. Jill has now threatened to contact the cops even though they are refusing to fix something that is extremely noticeable! it's my lips, it's my face! am truly disappointed in the service that was provided and just the lack of professionalism. PLEASE BEWARE. Do not make the same mistake I made, see messages and pictures of my service attached. read more

After having my makeup done by Jill, I was thrilled when I discovered that she offered the new eyebrow Microblading that everyone had been raving about. I contacted Jill by phone, and she spent nearly 30 minutes discussing her techniques, exchanging ideas about what I was looking for, and reviewing pricing. We ended the conversation with her telling me that she would get back to me with her availability for initial consultation. Within the same day, she had gotten back to me with an appointment. My mom and I were thrilled that we would soon have new eyebrows! Upon our initial meeting, Jill was all smiles, warm, and super enthusiastic about our soon to be transformation. We went over files that she saved of pictures we sent her that depicted our ideal brows. I went to this salon to get my first spray tan before I went on vacation. I found it through groupon. The staff was incredibly nice and professional, and really made sure I was well informed about taking care of my tan. I took off a star because I came off really dark, darker than I expected, and didn't expect it. However, I got a lot of compliments of vacation and was told it looked very natural (until I took it off and was pale again!) Anyways, I really enjoyed my experience there, and they even told me they would honor my groupon price if I returned. Would recommend! read more

When researching hair and make up companies in the area I found JKFlashy! I was excited by all their positive reviews and sent an inquiry. Shortly after the owner, Jill, called me and we reviewed all the details of my wedding and what I envisioned my make up and hair to be like for the day of. She was driving and had so many wonderful ideas for a trial. She suggested a few things and asked me to e-mail her all the details so that she could set up a trial for me in the coming weeks. I sent her an e-mail with pictures of my current hair type, length, and the desired style. After a few emails I was so excited to have a trial scheduled! Jill scheduled me with Tara over in CT which was a bit far from me, 95 minute drive. I was more than happy to make the trip to have a trial done by Tara who Jill told me had years of experience. The week of the trial came up quickly and I found myself without anything in writing. I had done other trials before and they usually required a deposit and signed contract. So I emailed Jill to see how to prepare for the trial. No response. I tried again the day before the trial, emailing and calling Jill. She e-mailed me at 11 PM stating she tried to call me multiple times (she then later disclosed that she had the wrong telephone number/did not have my #). I responded right away and asked how to prepare for the trial (types of payment accepted, how should I have my hair, face, etc). She responded to my email and said she'd call me in the morning at 10AM or earlier. I said okay. The next morning and day of the trial, I tried calling Jill at 9:30 am, 10am, 11AM, and emailed in between. After getting no response (Jill withheld Tara's information so I could not even reach out to her directly about my trial with her) I began to drive so that I did not miss my trial. After about an hour of driving (and paying the tolls to go over the bridge) I get a call from Jill--this is about an hour before the trial. She says she saw all my missed calls and wanted to answer any questions for the trial. I explained that I have curly hair (as shown in the pictures in my first email) and wanted a sleek chignon done. She said she'd call me back after calling Tara. I found this back and forth so strange. She calls me back after speaking with Tara and says that there isn't enough time to work with my curly hair. She'd have to blow it out and that has to be done the day before. She asked if I could just come and do makeup. ...Now after taking the time off of work, driving quite a distance, and seeing that JKFlashy did not properly prepare enough time for a bridal trial I was displeased to say the least. I canceled the trial completely. Tried to reschedule and work with them. It got increasingly harder and Jill was very eager to schedule but not eager to give the details of the person who would actually be doing my hair and make up. She hesitated to give price quotes and was not forthcoming with any information. Stay away from this company at all costs. I sent Jill a very long email with my concerns and why I was unhappy and instead of replying to it, she started a new thread asking me to book a trial with her and her team. read more

I used this vendor for my wedding last month and really enjoyed working with them. Their work is really beautiful and as natural as professional makeup can be. Jill and Ashley are fabulous to work with and are perfectionists. They are on time (actually, early!) and live for their clients. My only other comment is about something very minor. I am the type of client that likes rapid communication via email and JKFlashy is more of a phone call kind of vendor and can take a few days to respond to email, but will answer a phone call any time of day. I really am grateful for Jill and Ashley and their work - they helped me feel and look beautiful the day of my wedding and plan to use their services for other events in the future. JK flashy did makeup for myself, my bridesmaids and my mom for my wedding. Although the work they do is beautiful and I was beyond pleased, I would never recommend doing any sort of business with them. I had my trial and booked in October- my wedding was in August so even though I booked well in advance I received a phone call the day before my rehearsal dinner saying that the makeup artist was not Jill but another girl for the same price. She said she had someone before me and wouldn't get to me on time or would be late. She basically acted as though she was doing me a favor by offering a free trial for Ashley who was now doing my makeup. I have Ashley a shot and LOvED her makeup!!! However when it came time for the touch up service- she barely touched me up and did an Irish exit.. She snuck out before servicing for the full hour I paid for. Not cool!!! The worst part was the communication with Jill afterwards. She sent nasty and rude emails insinuating myself or my bridal party were liars and Ashley stayed the full time (not the case). Then she proceeded to say I was distracted and confused. Her overall tone and the way she speaks to her clients is rude and insulting. I would never again do business with her. She has offered to return 10 minutes worth of service which is better than nothing but I had to put up a fight to get just that. read more

As a professional hairstylist myself it's easy to recognize talent and professionalism. Jill and her company possess both of these important traits. Jill and her husband did hair and make up for my cousins wedding. They worked quickly and efficiently. Being that I was also doing hair for the wedding it's hard to get myself ready on these occasions. Jill made me up in 15 minutes and I could not have been happier . I've used Jill so many times and she never disappoints! I met Jill when she was my instructor for advanced makeup about 4 years ago and I just took her semipermanent lash course in November. Amazing! Previously, I had my eyebrows microbladed with her and just last week I had a microderm and peel. I was a little nervous because it was my first time ever having one, but I am mind blown by the results!!! Since I was younger I've always suffered from very stubborn cystic acne around my jawline and clogged pores. It's almost a week later and I look like a different person!!! My skin is so soft and a lot of the scaring from previous acne is minimal as well as the blackheads/clogged pores. I had a small bump on my cheek for over a year now that no matter what I did wouldn't go away. It would always shrink a little in size but never fully go away. That bump is now gone!! Now just a little skin peeling where it was.. I am beyond pleased with the results I see and I've already set up my following appointment. I will be going every 6 weeks! Jill is very attentive to your concerns and really analyzes your skin to make sure she is making the best professional choice when deciding on the right skin care regimen. For starters, the salon itself is adorable. The layout and décor is very stylish and pretty, but that's the most I can say for this place. I cannot review on hair or makeup, I am basing my review off a spray tan. I found a great offer through Groupon and decided to detour from my regular salon (where I've done plenty of spray tans for special events) and check this place out. Stupid move on my part, considering I was about to take professional/milestone pictures, I should've stuck with my regular salon. The saying is true - you get what you pay for. I went here looking to do a spray tan on a Saturday for my engagement shoot the following day. To boot, I had my friend's bachelorette party that same night, and wanted to have the spray done, give it enough time to set so I could do one rinse before I went out that night. I was greeted by Jill (the owner), who over the phone assured me when I made the appointment, she would do a special spray that would be dry within 8 hours. I was put into a private room with her assistant who performed the service. I noticed a dripping down my legs, arms and stomach as she went, which she promised would blend in by the time it dried. Having done my share of spray tans, I knew something didn't look right but decided against my better judgment to trust her. When I went to pay, I told Jill my concern and she "realized" she didn't communicate to her assistant to use the spray she promised and said I would have to wait until the next morning to shower. I reminded her I had a bachelorette party that night and her response was "then I would stay home". Clearly, there was no concern or desire to fix this and I got a response that was unprofessional and rude. Instead of going back and forth, I politely paid and left. My "tan" ended up drying worse than what I saw happening at the salon, with my arms, neck and face streaked and blotched, some areas were not even hit (I looked like a half and half cookie) with very distinct lines all over. I called the salon and told Jill the outcome and reiterated I had my engagement shoot in less than 24 hours. She said the best she could do was "do it again", which common sense would tell anyone I would end up even darker and worse off than I already was. Then she proceeded to tell me maybe my skin wasn't responding well to a spray tan and that this was the result (which I knew was not the case given I have done them many times and never had a problem). I asked for a refund to my card, which she refused. She said she would accept pictures via email and use them as a learning tool for her staff so this didn't happen in the future. I could not believe what I was hearing - and this is coming from the business owner! I ended up four showers later trying to even out the tan, and with the help of makeup, I was able to hide it all for my engagement shoot. I later on heard from other people that this place is the worst, and I too now suggest staying far away. From the lack of communication between staff to follow through on customer needs, to the unprofessional responses, you're better off somewhere else. And don't go based off "Best of Westchester" ratings this place has - I came to also find out she has her friends give her stellar/false ratings so it appears as a five star business. read more

I easily scheduled a makeup trial with our artist Tara who did an incredible job that day and blew us out of the water the day of my wedding! I got married in New York City on August 22nd. Tara traveled into the city, got there early and did makeup for me, 5 bridesmaids, my mother and mother-in-law. Everyone looked beautiful! A few of my bridesmaids who had been in multiple weddings throughout the year said Tara's skills far surpassed any of the other makeup artists they had at prior weddings. I approached JK Flashy about one month before my wedding after receiving glowing recommendations from our wedding venue (JK Flashy is our venue's only preferred vendor for make up). I was unbelievably lucky they could accommodate me. Not only was their staff was able to accommodate my very late booking for make up service ONSITE at my wedding venue for my bridal makeup, but also onsite makeup services for SIX bridesmaids AND my mom! To make sure we all had flawless makeup done on time for photos (with a VERY tight schedule), they came fully staffed - like the Navy SEALs version of glamorous makeup artists. They also worked seamlessly with our hair stylist vendor, who also needed to work onsite at our wedding venue. Despite the tight schedule, their staff remained the example of professional - extremely kind and absolutely capable in every way. All of us could not have been more thrilled or impressed by how wonderful we looked - my bridesmaids felt like queens, my mom, who has never had professional make up done, felt gorgeous (and looked it) and I absolutely loved how I looked on my wedding day.
