Off the hook! Local beef cured locally. Wow! We stumbled upon this place on our way from Lassen to parts north. We shared the pastrami which I regret because it was way too good to share. I wish I would have tried a burger. Best pastrami I've ever had. Well maybe tied with Carnegie deli in NY cause I been there. Different. At JJs they have homemade rye bread. Seriously off the hook. Enjoy! read more

I had breakfast at JJ's after camping near the Hat Creek Rim Overlook. I was up early and off to drive through Lassen Volcanic NP and was hungry. JJ's was a great mix of locals and tourists, and got surprisingly busy for a Monday. The coffee was fresh and hot, the food was excellent, and the conversation with Shane, a retired local guy, was great. Would eat here again next time I'm at Lassen. read more

Stopped by on our way to Susanville and it was great! Homemade fresh bread for sandwiches, desserts that are off the hook delicious, and fresh cut fries all make us want to return soon! read more

Stopped for lunch today and ordered mushroom burger and kids ordered a simple hamburger. Burgers were amazing!! Perfectly cooked and juicy! If you are in the Lassen area, this is a cute little cafe to stop at for amazing food. Oh and I ordered a choc chip walnut cookie and it was heavenly !! read more

Best place to eat in Old Station after a good day of fishing. My favorite thing on the menus is the Pulled Pork!

Accommodated our party of 9 easily. Great food, great and friendly service. Great find near Lassen Park.

We are on the way back to Lessson national park. Trying to find any restaurant for dinner. JJ cafe seems the only one we can find. We are worried in the beginning. However, it didn't disappoint us. The hot sandwich is amazing. I like its crunchy texture and smoky beef. The food is really good. When u stop by here, give it a try. It won't disappoint u. read more

My family (husband, wife and two kids 5 & 2) have eaten at this place several times now. I have nothing but good to say about it. I think the food is very good. I've had the Rueben before as well as the pulled pork sandwich. We got hamburgers from this place. Everything is very well cooked and satisfying. I think the service is awesome. The last time We ate their individual I would assume is the owner gave my kids cookies for free. I would say the only downside is the size of the place. There's indoor and outdoor seating but both locations are slightly small. To me though, that's not a problem. Because the food and the service outweigh that by a lot. read more

What a dump. Bathroom hasn't been cleaned in who knows how long. Mediocre food, at best. Not sure where these other reviews are coming from. At least we didn't get sick from the food. Memo to owner: Clean the bathrooms! read more

Love coming here while in Hat Creek. Great breakfast ( havent had lunch but is likely great too) and staff is so friendly!

Great service and a great breakfast and cheeseburger!! We can say enough good about the people and the food

GOOD: -Mushroom burger -Reuben -Peg game at the table kept us entertained while we waited for our food BAD: -Long wait for the food (~40min?) -Unacceptable bathroom hygiene (The extra toilet paper is kept threaded onto the stick of the plunger, with the entire roll of toilet paper physically touching the actual cup of the plunger. Might as well dunk it in the toilet if you're gonna do that.) read more

We had a long wait to get our lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Food was good when we finally got it. It was warm inside with flys buzzing our food. read more

Not many choices in Old Station- but this is a good stop. Fall River beer on tap. Back deck that you can sit on with a great view. Lots of PCT people pass through here- fun to meet people and hear the stories read more

Stopped in for late lunch while taking long detour driving from Ashland to Sacramento due to wildfires and resulting traffic. Suffice to say this place is completely awesome. Amazing burgers, good beer, friendly staff. We will definitely be back next time we are passing this way. read more

We stopped in on our way home from Medford.. Beautiful Fall day in Oct. Small place with np doubt ALL locals but felt like we were home. The food was good with the home style feel. The younger woman who helps us was on here own other than the cook and busted her butt to help everyone that was in there. And she DID!!! Wish Tahoe had some hard workers!! read more

Great Ruben-homemade Ryebread and the french fries were crispy. The patio has a nice view. They serve local meats and salads

We highly recommend Jj's Cafe! We had the best burgers ever. They use grass fed high quality beef. The burgers are juicy, with fresh produce, and the slightly toasted buns had to be homemade (forgot to ask). The Pastrami is smoked to perfection. Top notch service! read more

My family visits Lassen National Park every year and JJ's cafe is just a short drive away. Great food and customer service! We'll be returning next year! read more

Great service, good food, would return again. Highly recommend the veggies scramble. Pancakes and biscuits and gravy were generic.

I don't usually order burgers at restaurants because I'm a burger snob and I always find myself disappointed. I decided to just go for it here...and I was NOT disappointed. The bacon cheese burger was fantastic. This place is low key, but food is good and service is friendly. read more

We had a great lunch here today and was one of the best in a long time here in eastern shasta county. The burgers we both had were cooked perfect. Service was very attentive. Fries were great also, not too hard, very chewy. read more

Awesome home cooked food and great service. Beef is local grass fed too! I had the pastrami burger and recommend it highly. This place has fast Wi-Fi download (but slow upload) and is very friendly to PCT hikers. read more

Great breakfast at JJ's in Old Station. Cozy cafe with attentive service and good food. They also provide Wifi service, which worked well. Definitely worth the stop when in the Lassen Hat Creek area. read more

We stopped by this place on the way to Lassen NP. The staff is friendly and the food is yammy. We got Reuben, Italian grilled cheese and sweet grilled cheese. All of the sandwiches were delicious. Reuben had plenty of meat and sauerkraut. Sweet grilled cheese was a bit too sweet to my taste, but it says so on the menu - it is made with honey. If you are into sweet staff - it is definitely the one to get. My kid loved it. Italian grilled cheese had Italian dressing and tomatoes - tasted like a mix of a sandwich and pizza. All sandwiches are made with a good hardy bread, which was a big plus for us. read more

Been eating here every August for the last 8 years (except for 2014), we've heard there's new owners. The home-made breads and goodies are fantastic! Service was good. Huge portions, that make the prices acceptable. There was 7 of us, and we all thought the biscuits and gravy could be improved as the biscuits were kinda sweet and the gravy had too much pepper (like salt it's better to have too little, than too much). Our eggs were over cooked, and although the waitress offered to have them re-made, we didn't want to wait. The rest of the food was good. We'll definitely be going back. read more

Best burgers around! This is a hidden gem or perhaps a lost gem because it is about 30 miles past the middle of nowhere. Cute friendly quick waitress so extra points for the service. It is right on the PCT - Pacific Crest Trail - so it was full of serious hikers. It gets a nod in Reese Witherspoon's movie "The Wild" which you really should see. read more

I ordered Santa Fe burger, and its really good. They used grass fed cow meat...i highly recommend this place, we came here after a hike to Cinder Cone Trail, and that was after 3pm but still they let us in, which we didn't that they closed at 3pm.. read more

Pleeeease make sure you're hungry! John makes his own sausage. The plates are huge! The food is phenomenal! I wanted to give him a hug. The place just felt good. This is where the locals hang out for sure. And everyone was nice! Even to us tourists. This is a must stop on your way to/from Lassen or Burney Falls. read more

JJ's Cafe - Please note months/times/days they're open. - Cafes Near Me - Old Station, California

We stayed at Hat Creek Resort and this place is right down the road about a mile. We had breakfast here. Best bisquits and gravy I have had in a long time. Portions are huge. We wanted to have dinner but they're only open Fri and Sat for dinner and they close at 7:30 pm. Great place to eat! Prices are reasonable. read more

Perfect place to have a rest after hiking the Lassen. Traditional food gives me full energy.

Eggs over cooked, sausage under cooked. Guest wifi turned off. The prices of the food, I expect better food. Not friendly for a small town atmosphere. read more

Great ambience, excellent food! The omelette was well-balanced, with just the right amount of meat and cheese. But most surprising of all, the fries were not greasy at all! We will be back! read more

Ya next time I will ride right on past that place, there are other places to eat. We got seated right away but waited an hour for our food, breakfast. It was ok at best, didn't get sick. The waitresses seemed overwhelmed, It took forever to get a refill on coffee, oh ya try to force a smile sometime it goes a long way. read more

I stopped in during an epic, long-distance bike trip. Lassen Park was closed due to fires and the whole valley surrounding Old Station was smoked out like a Three-6 Mafia concert. JJ's delivered the goods. The portions were incredibly generous, the waitress was very hospitable and friendly, the food tasted amazing and fresh (the bread was made in the bakery next door and the meat was house cured) and the blackberry pie a la mode was on point. They also had vegetarian options, which was important for my girlfriend. A very filling and tasty lunch and dessert for two was had at a very reasonable price. I hear the proprietors winter in Arizona so I think this place is only a summer spot. There's not much reason to be in Old Station during winter anyway. read more

WOW!!! We were just passing through town and happened on this place for lunch. This small place in the middle of nowhere was amazing. We had skipped breakfast so we were all rather hungry. The food was incredibly good and the portions were large. They bake their own bread, make their own soup and cure their own corned beef and smoke their own pastrami. We had pastrami sandwiches that were fabulous and my wife had a french dip that she could only eat half of. She said that the coleslaw (also home-made) was the best. The prices were reasonable too. We bought some sticky buns to take home and I can't wait to try them tomorrow. It's a husband and wife that own the place. She waited on us and he was in the kitchen. The place was very busy but the service was quite fast and friendly too. I wish that they were a lot closer to home so we could eat here often. read more

Delicious food! I come here every time I'm on a fishing trip!!! Would recommend to any visiter!

New owners run it very well. The food is awesome! Still the best breakfast in the area! You won't leave here hungry. Burgers are great too and beef is sourced locally! I'm bummed I'm moving away and won't be able to eat here as often, but I will visit when I go through the area. Way to go new owners, you guys rock! read more
