Man I passed this place on the way to drop materials off to a job yesterday and I'm so glad I waited 160 miles to get this burger Let's start off with the burger combo for 15 bucks with a cheeseburger and a fry and soda , I got a cheeseburger and let's just say the bun was so soft and delicious and now on to the patty , that big thing was nice and juicy not overcooked , just right for my liking , the veggies were fresh I usually toss em all off but this time they look good and not a day old , Now the waffle fries were top notch went well with there in house ranch , I love the old buttermilk style ranch , brings in a good flavor , And I washed it all down with a nice Mountain Dew , Now back on the road for a 6 hour drive wooo read more

Alpine Drive Inn is the quintessential drive in. Very retro with all the greasy eats and no frills. They have indoor and outdoor seating and they are pretty pet friendly. We ordered a classic burger and fries to share as well as a frito boat, which is basically a simple nachos made with fritos instead of regular tortilla chips. The food was tasty and reasonably priced but that's probably because the portions were smaller than we expected. Service was pretty slow but they do have ample parking and tbh, there is not much else around here that was open or appealing so this place is a pretty safe bet imo. read more

Maybe it's a slight exaggeration but this is sort of the platonic ideal of these sort of roadside burger spots. Good fries, good onion rings, beefy burgers. Fun selection of sauces. Great stop post some outdoor activities. If you're going to Burney Falls you basically have to go here. read more

Cheeseburger delicious! Chocolate shake yummy! Onion rings perfectly prepared! Service Exceptional !! Sat outside and the weather was pretty awesome too! Alpine Drive Inn is worth the visit. On Saturday evening, 4 cars came after they closed and must have been disappointed ... read more

Great hamburger and fries. Soft serve is delicious. Was crowded but that's good because a lot of businesses in Burney have closed down.

Grabbed lunch on our way to Alturas. Got there just before a crowd. The window server was friendly. You could watch the cooks make the food. It took about 15 minutes for our order, but they advised us that they were short staffed so the wait would be longer. Our food was tasty. I had a cheese burger. The cheese covered the whole patty. There were tomato, chopped onion and lettuce on it. The bun was soft. I opted to eat it open faced as the bun overwhelmed the burger. The onion rings were hot and were crunchy. My husband had the chicken nuggets. He said the coating was crunchy and had a nice spice. They were meaty. The milkshakes were thick. read more

27 bucks for a cheese burger fry and milk shake is ridiculous. not to mention the wait times are ridiculous.

This is the only place I've ever eaten at in Burney. It's a typical diner style place and is good for lunch and you wanted something quick. Very cute and unique place to go read more

They have the best milk shakes in the world and it's worth the wait and money . They are a little pricey but it's worth it

Just a great burger place when in the mood for a juicy, tasty morsel of ground beef with fries.

A decent choice in Burney, where the options are a bit limited. Loved the onion rings! The burger was pretty good with a nice beefy flavor. In all honesty, it kind of reminded me of a whopper at Burger King, but more than double the price. It seemed like they were short staffed (2-3 people?) and through the chaos our huckleberry milkshake was forgotten. Then, we were told they didn't have huckleberry. We got blackberry instead, which was good. Someone was in the back freshly concocting the milkshakes, so props for that. read more

After checking the site I went in and knew what I wanted. I asked for one large shake and one medium shake and she screamed out one size I looked at her and she said one size. So I looked up and there was only large milk shake. So I asked for 2 fry's and again one medium, one large. I got the bill for $30. No sandwich or burger. So you decide. read more

This place has a great personality, pink and triangular. The food is fine. The burger was okay although the bun was soggy. The fries are good. The shake was delicious. Others in my party had fish and chips which were surprisingly good considering it's far from the ocean. The service was great, very friendly. It's a small dining room but you can also eat outside. This is a good stop after hiking burney falls. read more

We chose this place for the ratings and the prices and Coke products. It was 100 degrees in the small dining area. The menus posted here were inaccurate in prices, selection, and they only had Pepsi products. (I will post updated pictures) it took 15 minutes to get 2- 8 oz soft drinks When the food arrived, (25 minutes after ordering and leaving out the large fry) the food was mediocre at best. More than $11 per person in our 6 person party and I had tater tots as my main since there were not meatless, dairy-less options. read more

Helpful friendly staff, great place for a treat! Shakes are phenomenal! An oasis if u will.

I absolutely love the place and the ice cream and food it's just the mayonnaise on the grilled cheese tastes really weird

Delicious food. Service can be slow, but that's because everything is made to order - no cardboard burgers sitting under a lamp! Ambiance is great. Friendly staff! Going off New Year diet to have tater tots! read more

Food options are rather limited in this part of California, so we ended up choosing Alpine Drive Inn, which we saw off the main road. They do both drive-ins and dine-ins (I think it's very much catered to tourists stopping by for a quick bite); it wasn't busy when we arrived but there were definitely customers. I ordered a turkey sandwich to go, with a side of tater tots. It came out to ~$17 in total. The turkey sandwich came on a hoagie with a perhaps-a-bit-too-generous portion of mayonnaise. I chose to have my sandwich warmed up, but was a bit surprised to find the top half of my sandwich warm but the bottom half of my sandwich (including the bread at the bottom) ice cold. It was a bit weird biting into this half hot, half cold sandwich. The tater tots, on the other hand, were amazing. I kinda doubt that they make fresh tater tots from scratch (just given the fact that there was only one single person taking orders, making food, & delivering orders when I was here), but I do think that they were some of the best tater tots I've had, with the perfect amount of crunchiness, flavor, and grease (which is to say that they were not very greasy). They were on the crunchier and more cooked side though. The girl was very friendly & I wouldn't mind coming back here again! read more

I have been coming here since I was a child. Love the mom & pops quality and atmosphere.

20 minutes to get a hot fudge sundae. 10 minutes watching them wander around inside debating over who will take my order. Now as I sit here waiting another 10 minutes and it's still not ready. This will be another Burney landmarks that goes under because of poor customer service. Now 30 minutes and still haven't got it yet. read more

I've been coming here for decades. I haven't been for a while, but decided to stop on my way through Burney because they always had good burgers and excellent tater tots. Boy things have changed! The burgers are much smaller, lack the flavor they used to. Ingredients quality is not good anymore. And to top it off my food was shoved (pressed) down in the bag, so when I pulled out my burger it was mangled. And although the burger size went down , the price sure didn't! At least the tater tots were decent. Sad to see a place with as much history as Alpine go down in quality. read more

A little cute drive in concept. Small town restaurant but i expected at least a well presented burger. Cheese wasn't melted and everything seemed rushed and just thrown on the burger so it was a big mess. Service was great. Perhaps this a nice spot for an ice cream cone after a long hot day of adventuring. read more

burgers are good but be prepared to wait a long time. I got a burger and waited 43 minutes.

On our way to Burney Falls to camp for the weekend, my husband and I stopped at Alpine Drive Inn for a late dinner before making it to the campground (we didn't have supplies for dinner the first night). We each ordered a classic double cheeseburger with everything on it. For my side, I got onion rings and for my husband's side, he got tater tots. Definitely ask for some of their fry sauce! It is very tasty and makes for a great dipping sauce for tater tots or onion rings. If it hadn't been so cold, I would have loved to try their ice cream or one of their shakes. But even I could not muster the courage to indulge in a cold treat with such cloudy, overcast skies. There aren't a ton of options in Burney but do yourself a favor and definitely stop here if you have the chance. read more

Great place to visit after Burney Falls visit. 95% were locals, and it was jam packed. There was a "wear a mask" sign on the window, and NOBOBY inside was wearing masks, including staff at the cashier and cook tables. Except for this crazy Bay Area visitor. I removed my mask when I ate. The burgers were delicious, and filling. I thought they were a tad expensive, but not outrageous at all. Most were around $6 or $8. I think the fries were the short crispy type, not the thick meaty type. I love the crisp fries. So good. I ate with a couple hikers and we had a fantastic time. Recommended. read more

the service was trash and takes forever for the quality of food! They only have two people working and don't have a system that get the first customer first! they pick what line they would like to take and let the others that have been waiting longer go behind and wait just a little bit more... read more

We used the drive through during our visit. The wait was very long. But I was ok with that because coming here as a child after school, the food was always made fresh. Our hamburgers ended up being pre frozen patties. The fries were so salty they were impossible to eat. I don't mind salt but this was completely overboard. The milkshake was delicious! For a pre frozen hamburger, medium salt with fries and a medium shake, I paid $20! This place used to be amazing. The place to get your burger and shake. I'll still get a shake when we visit. But no more hamburgers! The 2 employees I encountered were very polite. read more

We went to the this cute burger place on Sunday after we had lunch at Julio's . Some of the people we were with wanted ice cream and the ones that live in Burney suggested Alpine Drive Inn. Before this visit I had a burger a few years back from here. I didn't physically go to the restaurant for that visit since it was during COVID. My friend's brother picked it up and brought the food to Burney park. From what I remember, the burgers were good. This visit I only had a banana milkshake and my friends had milkshakes too, but they had heath flavor and/or Oreo. We went through the drive thru. It wasn't fast but our shakes were good . The young man that took our order was polite. When all was said in done I think it took 20-30 minutes. There were several people ahead of us . I'm not surprised , it was a nice day. What we ordered on this visit was good and what I had a while back on a past visit was good. If I am not in a hurry I wouldn't mind coming back again. Maybe next time I will check out the inside. read more

Very cute place. My hot dog was good but the cheese burger was not made well. Let's see. Bun, burger, cheese, (don't smash it down) lettuce tomato ON THE TOP not the bottom. The whole thing fell apart the second he picked it up. The lady was really nice the young kid seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but there. read more

It's not fast food so get that idea out of your tiny little gulliver, and just know the food is worth the wait. I've never had anything here I didn't like and that includes the ice cream. It's got a 50's soda pop and doo-wops feel to it. Probably best spot in town. read more

I've eaten there 2 times in past 2 yrs & will not try again. The cheeseburger i ordered was unedible both times. The buns were cold both times. Cheese not melted on on burger, meat dry, as if sat for awhile, not fresh at all. Asked for onions, got one tiny ring this time & slimy feeling. Tater tots were soggy, since they rolled up the bag they came in. But we had 6 people & they put whole order in single bag, so my burger was smooshed big time in bottom. Both orders of tater tots we in one bag, not 2 orders. Certain not worth $69!! Great cheeseburgers at Fall River frost & Chatty Kathy's. Warm buns, melted cheese on fresh, juicy burger. My dog got my $10 burger at Alpine, smallest one they had. read more

This place is great. I'd take an alpine burger over any "gourmet" burger spot. Not only are the burgers awesome, but the fries, onion rings, and crisscut fries are cooked to perfection. Don't forget to ask for fry sauce. Milkshakes are delicious also. I've been stopping by here for years. You can never go wrong with the Alpine when in you're in Burney. read more

Alright listen up to this deliciousness I have to share... I heard that the Alpine Drive Inn is serving small bits of Tai food, I love the idea and we ordered the chicken and the veggie spring rolls with lunch the other day. Oh my goodness they were great. What was even better were the dipping sauces. Let me tell you these are made by the batches, so they are super fresh, savory and delicious. Will order these many more times. Thank you Alpine for trying new things- these were amazing! read more

very pricy at $31for a burger, dog, two fries and two drinks. burger was warm but the fixings were stone cold. Odd feeling eating it. We returned the hot dog as it was loaded with the works, We asked for no onions and ketchup. The gave us a bad time when we asked for a replacement. They did replace it but the bun was stale, it crumbled in your hand. As a local there are few good places to eat in Burney. sadly, this is not one of them. This was a good place to eat. But, the quality has gone down and the price has gone up. read more

Alpine Drive Inn - I mean.... How could you not enjoy this spot - Burgers Near Me - Burney, California

Meh. Expensive and long wait. Not to mention, they told us they were going to charge us 18% gratuity and we were fine with that. But then they never mentioned it to other people who ordered after us. There was only 4 of us. I would understand more if we had more people but even then.... it's a fast food place not a sit down restaurant. Very strange but we didn't want to make a fuss about it. Overall, if you're not picky then it's a decent place. I recommend calling in your order ahead of time because we waited quite some time. Honestly, I'll probably go somewhere else next time I visit Burney. read more

The little place along Highway 299 in Burney is a gem! Great customer service, great burgers, and great shakes. It's an oasis for a traveler. If I lived too close to it, I'd be there WAY too often.
