Alpine Drive Inn is the quintessential drive in. Very retro with all the greasy eats and no frills. They have indoor and outdoor seating and they are pretty pet friendly. We ordered a classic burger and fries to share as well as a frito boat, which is basically a simple nachos made with fritos instead of regular tortilla chips. The food was tasty and reasonably priced but that's probably because the portions were smaller than we expected. Service was pretty slow but they do have ample parking and tbh, there is not much else around here that was open or appealing so this place is a pretty safe bet imo. read more

Grabbed lunch on our way to Alturas. Got there just before a crowd. The window server was friendly. You could watch the cooks make the food. It took about 15 minutes for our order, but they advised us that they were short staffed so the wait would be longer. Our food was tasty. I had a cheese burger. The cheese covered the whole patty. There were tomato, chopped onion and lettuce on it. The bun was soft. I opted to eat it open faced as the bun overwhelmed the burger. The onion rings were hot and were crunchy. My husband had the chicken nuggets. He said the coating was crunchy and had a nice spice. They were meaty. The milkshakes were thick. read more

In all honesty, it kind of reminded me of a whopper at Burger King, but more than double the price. This place has a great personality, pink and triangular. The food is fine. The burger was okay although the bun was soggy. The fries are good. The shake was delicious. Others in my party had fish and chips which were surprisingly good considering it's far from the ocean. The service was great, very friendly. It's a small dining room but you can also eat outside. The menus posted here were inaccurate in prices, selection, and they only had Pepsi products. (I will post updated pictures) it took 15 minutes to get 2- 8 oz soft drinks When the food arrived, (25 minutes after ordering and leaving out the large fry) the food was mediocre at best. Food options are rather limited in this part of California, so we ended up choosing Alpine Drive Inn, which we saw off the main road. They do both drive-ins and dine-ins (I think it's very much catered to tourists stopping by for a quick bite); it wasn't busy when we arrived but there were definitely customers. I ordered a turkey sandwich to go, with a side of tater tots. It came out to ~$17 in total. The turkey sandwich came on a hoagie with a perhaps-a-bit-too-generous portion of mayonnaise. I chose to have my sandwich warmed up, but was a bit surprised to find the top half of my sandwich warm but the bottom half of my sandwich (including the bread at the bottom) ice cold. It was a bit weird biting into this half hot, half cold sandwich. The tater tots, on the other hand, were amazing. I kinda doubt that they make fresh tater tots from scratch (just given the fact that there was only one single person taking orders, making food, & delivering orders when I was here), but I do think that they were some of the best tater tots I've had, with the perfect amount of crunchiness, flavor, and grease (which is to say that they were not very greasy). I've been coming here for decades. I haven't been for a while, but decided to stop on my way through Burney because they always had good burgers and excellent tater tots. Boy things have changed! The burgers are much smaller, lack the flavor they used to. Ingredients quality is not good anymore. And to top it off my food was shoved (pressed) down in the bag, so when I pulled out my burger it was mangled. And although the burger size went down , the price sure didn't! On our way to Burney Falls to camp for the weekend, my husband and I stopped at Alpine Drive Inn for a late dinner before making it to the campground (we didn't have supplies for dinner the first night). We each ordered a classic double cheeseburger with everything on it. For my side, I got onion rings and for my husband's side, he got tater tots. Definitely ask for some of their fry sauce! It is very tasty and makes for a great dipping sauce for tater tots or onion rings. If it hadn't been so cold, I would have loved to try their ice cream or one of their shakes. But even I could not muster the courage to indulge in a cold treat with such cloudy, overcast skies. There aren't a ton of options in Burney but do yourself a favor and definitely stop here if you have the chance. read more

Great place to visit after Burney Falls visit. 95% were locals, and it was jam packed. There was a "wear a mask" sign on the window, and NOBOBY inside was wearing masks, including staff at the cashier and cook tables. Except for this crazy Bay Area visitor. We used the drive through during our visit. The wait was very long. But I was ok with that because coming here as a child after school, the food was always made fresh. Our hamburgers ended up being pre frozen patties. The fries were so salty they were impossible to eat. I don't mind salt but this was completely overboard. The milkshake was delicious! We went to the this cute burger place on Sunday after we had lunch at Julio's . Some of the people we were with wanted ice cream and the ones that live in Burney suggested Alpine Drive Inn. Before this visit I had a burger a few years back from here. I didn't physically go to the restaurant for that visit since it was during COVID. My friend's brother picked it up and brought the food to Burney park. From what I remember, the burgers were good. This visit I only had a banana milkshake and my friends had milkshakes too, but they had heath flavor and/or Oreo. We went through the drive thru. It wasn't fast but our shakes were good . The young man that took our order was polite. When all was said in done I think it took 20-30 minutes. There were several people ahead of us . I'm not surprised , it was a nice day. What we ordered on this visit was good and what I had a while back on a past visit was good. If I am not in a hurry I wouldn't mind coming back again. very pricy at $31for a burger, dog, two fries and two drinks. burger was warm but the fixings were stone cold. Odd feeling eating it. We returned the hot dog as it was loaded with the works, We asked for no onions and ketchup. The gave us a bad time when we asked for a replacement. They did replace it but the bun was stale, it crumbled in your hand. As a local there are few good places to eat in Burney. sadly, this is not one of them. This was a good place to eat.
