I love JJ Bean coffee, the flavour of their roasts have grown with me as I've worked close to the OG JJ on Powell St. for quite some time now. The flavour of their coffee never fluctuates I.e. I've never experienced a bad coffee one day and a good one on another - they're always consistently great! This is my first time at the 2nd & Columbia location. I quite liked the interior decor, it's very industrialist THOUGH, my OCD self did notice all the imperfections in the build I.e very rough cut table bases !!! Other than the odd interiors, coffee was great, I enjoyed them using oatly as their Oat milk option. read more

It is close to my office, so I came here to buy lunch. They have a few varieties of wraps, sandwiches, and breakfast sandwiches. Other than coffee beverages, they have juices, water and others. Their customer server was great. I had problems choosing the food that I liked, because they had many options that all of them tasted great. A server recommended what she thought was the best to me. That was great! I went with her choice and I liked it! Coffee here was great! All of my coworkers also agreed with that. Instead of going to Starbucks, they or we would prefer JJBeans. :) I am glad that JJBean is around the neighbourhood, so we can have more options on coffee and food other than Starbucks. It is always best to walk to this coffee shop. It is a bit hard to find parking on the streets because construction is going on all the time. read more

Cool clean and talented. This goes for both the staff and the coffee here. I have only tried their lattes here, but they are good. I wish I took a photo of the latte art but I was on the daily morning grind to go to work. This location is small but spacious. There is outdoor and indoor seating. It's modernly designed and the staff are nice. They have newspapers here for the patrons also. read more

By far my favourite JJ Bean, amongst my Top 3. This one clearly has the view, with bar seating facing north. Fruit salad for $3.95 is worth the price of admission despite its crappy slow wifi. EAT YOUR VEGGIES... Grab da new ZUCHINNI dark chocolate muffin!! I mean for less than 3 dollars... SICK!! The muffin are huge vs Terra bread or other place. But I keep in mind more bigger=more calories... So I eat an half and then keep the other half for later!! I don't know if all the location got this flavor... I guess they do...!! Also the baristas are smart!! If needed they are wearing their sunglasses... Brilliant cuz they're still no blinds... Fair enough!! Oh yeah! They also have high chairs... This place is lame. Every time you go in in the morning, they have no breakfast wraps and low stock of food. I was told they get their delivery around 10. How does that make any sense? Who the hell is coming in for a breakfast wrap after 10 on a weekday. Must be nice to not have to work. read more

Below is the review I wrote. It is important to me to note publicly that I contacted the management about the issues, and they IMMEDIATELY sent someone to check on what I said, and since then say they have upped the temperature considerably. So it is impressive that they did respond with such speed and genuineness. However, the problem with the temperature has been going on for many, many months, so I don't see why it took a complaint for them to come out. All the staff knew there was the issue, as far as I knew. Anyway, good for them--impressive. Previous: Just left this place and once again, it is absolutely freezing inside. The staff say there is nothing they can do, and besides they are fine because they are working behind the bar. Meanwhile on a cold November day, almost every customer in there is wearing a coat. I cannot figure out why they would permit this. IT is ALWAYS like this, even in summer, but maybe that is excusable. I had stopped going to all of their outlets a while ago, but came back a few times lately. Muffins still tend to be undercooked, or barely cooked. They run out of variours types--after a while one would think they would figure out how to account for that. OR make some more. How hard is it to stick a pan of batter in an over? read more

From a students perspective: Overall rating 7.5/10 Criteria: Outlets: no outlets anywhere in the cafe Space: decent size tables for studying in pairs, pretty cramped for group work. The place gets pretty busy at times though and difficult to find a spot to study. Noise level: very noisy, so if you require silence to focus probably not the best place to go to. Drinks/Food Price: 2 coffees and a muffin for $10. French roast was strangely grainy and their mochas are very sweet. Really nice location for this excellent chain. Cozy atmosphere and f super friendly staff. What really made me love to go there often is that I went with my friend who can't eat anything with gluten and jjbean serves very tasty gluten free muffins but they were sold out because they make limited number of them. My friend was disappointed because he loves their muffin but one of the staff said i can bake you two muffins if you are going to be here for the next 40 mintues. We were staying anyway so it made my friend's day when she said that. She was super nice & he got very tasty freshly baked gluten free muffin. read more

I'm so happy a GOOD coffee place opened up near where I live. I've been there once and I must say that it has a great atmosphere, they have a variety of pastries and foods, and when I went there, there wasn't a drink menu.. but I just assumed they had drinks most coffee places so I ordered a small mocha and it was amazing! Cozy new corner location 1st & Columbia st across from the park that connects with Habitat island on False Creek (west edge of Olympic village). They have made poor an attempt to create a seaside wharf atmosphere, but never the less its still JJ Bean coffee at its finest. read more

Nice interior, nice little park view outside.They don't have triangle chairs like JJ beans in downtown location. But there is high chairs, round tables and single leather cushion seats. The cool thing about this location is that there is one huge pillar which has a list of locations that have been built over past few years. read more

They're friendly and can answer your questions Selection: they rotate through different coffees so if they arent serving your favourite on that day then you're out of luck. Service: quick CUPPING REVIEW The man that did the cupping was amazing. He was soft spoken, patient, and his passion for coffee showed. He walked us through the process and discussed different roasts, washes, microclimates, notes to pick out, finishes, and even grinders. I'd go back anytime just to talk to this guy about coffee. Great location. I used to live right beside this location. Jj bean coffee is definitely better then sb, timmy and mcdo. The breakfast sandwich and the yogurt is really good. I order the fruit cup alot but its not always fresh so beware. Definitely a great location the staff always friendly. No power cord for laptops though. read more

A solid location of this very good Vancouver coffee chain. Staff are friendly, and the coffee and baking are great. Fresh muffins are a real treat in a city that lacks good access to fresh baking. The interior isn't quite as neatly designed as some of the other JJ Bean locations but perhaps it was the intent to look a bit more historic, rather than contemporary. But it's great to see each location looking distinctive to complement its context. read more

Too bad I don't work near this location anymore. Definitely enjoyed the staffs much more than the jj beans next to my current work place in gastown. Very welcoming and immediately recognized me after going there only couple times. Milk is also streamed better for some reason. Definitely will stop by when I'm in the area. read more

Came here prior to my trip for a latte (on the way to 3 vets) and it was made to order. I was a little tripped out with the semi unisex bathroom which was different in a good progressive way. It is spacious, however, I don't feel as though they layout design has been used to the full potential constructively hence making space limited in reality. As a big fan of coffee, I'm always looking hard for a place where I can indulge my addiction with delight. More or less stumbled on this JJ Bean recently after a morning run and well...location, location, location (I really like the location). Hours of operation! Since I get my best stuff done early, early in the morning I got giddy when I learned that this location is open at 6 am. Staff - friendly, courteous, considerate, as if they actually want to be there and they actually care if the coffee is good. The Americano - delicious, rich, deep, the perfect for caffeine delivery system. Ambience - concrete and glass, clean and clear yet welcoming, comfortable, an intriguing layout giving the best opportunity for the abundant natural light. It's like, if I was gonna open a coffee shop it would be pretty much like this one. Though too much of a good thing for this girl, the muffins look great, their baked delicious scent emanating is some kind of comfort. I just love knowing the muffins are there for someone who wants a muffin. Vancouver is most definitely the land of coffee and rain and this is now my favourite coffee spot in...Vancouver. read more

Stumbled across the location needing a place to work with my laptop for an extended period. Well lit, and great view across False Creek. Several really comfy chairs, but sadly no power to keep laptop going anywhere. Wifi was excellent and very appreciated. I like my coffee dark roast and this place makes a really good brew. Baked goodies are fairly ordinary but tasty and its competitively priced, about $5 for your average morning break, very reasonable. Found the staff know how to be warm and professional without the sickly sweet service Starbux serves up. Music is not so loud you can't think. Almost a five and definitely recommend. read more

Jj bean as become my favourite coffee shop over the years. At first I would just come in for a cup of jo but recently have been eating the food they have. I am now coming here more for the food than the coffee. I usually get the vegan wrap or the chorizo breakfast wrap both are reallllly good! This is probably my favourite JJ bean so far, and I've visited a few of their locations, including the one on Main, Railway, and Yaletown. Great place to grab a coffee to go or seat in and enjoy the atmosphere. Staff here are genuinely friendly, happy, and engaging. The decor is modern and clean with plenty of natural light. Love the history about False Creek placed along the wall as you wait for your drink. JJ Bean probably one of the best coffee houses around. Coffee/espresso drinks are rich and smooth. One of the best decaf lattes I had in a long time. Muffins are fresh and other pastries and food look worth trying.
