Daikaya Ramen is an unassuming spot serving some seriously flavorful ramen in DC. If you're a ramen…read morelover, this place is definitely worth seeking out. We ordered the Spicy Miso with the spice bomb and egg, along with the veggie ramen with spice bomb. The Spicy Miso was the clear winner--easily one of the most flavorful ramen bowls I've had, with just the right kick and incredible depth. The veggie ramen was also excellent and a great option for vegetarians. We also tried the gyoza, spring rolls, and Sapporo beer. For dessert, we ordered the black sesame ice cream, but the ramen portions were so generous that we were too full to finish it! Service was quick, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd want from a Japanese ramen spot--casual, lively, and unassuming. The food felt authentic and the flavors really stood out. They also have an izakaya upstairs, which we unfortunately didn't get a chance to try. Definitely saving that for the next visit!

Let me start by saying I recently visited Daikaya on Monday, August 3, 2026, and unfortunately the…read moreservice that day was disappointing. I gave that particular visit 1 out of 5 stars. However, I also want to mention that Daikaya is one of my family's favorite ramen spots, so we were genuinely surprised by the experience because it has always been much better in the past. When we arrived, we were told that our entire party had to be present before we could be seated, which we understood. We also know that seating is first come, first served. In the past, we've been able to sit in a booth with two people, but this time we were informed that booths were reserved for parties of three or more. It was a little frustrating because the restaurant was slow at the time, and my wife politely explained that we would likely be finished before the dinner rush. Even so, we respected the policy and waited until a seat became available. I do want to give Terry a shoutout because he was very kind and professional. I explained that I couldn't sit at the bar due to my foot, and he was understanding. However, when he relayed that information to another employee, I immediately noticed a change in the other gentleman's body language and attitude. He seemed irritated about having to seat us. Once we were seated, the interaction only became more uncomfortable. He slammed our cups onto the table, and when I asked for a straw, he didn't hand it to me--he simply placed it down without saying much. There were several other small interactions throughout our meal that made us feel unwelcome. It reached the point where we decided we'd rather leave, so we flagged Terry down, asked for to-go containers, and requested the check. During our visit, I also noticed a party of four seat themselves and grab their own menus while both servers had their backs turned at the bar. When the same gentleman approached them, his demeanor was completely different. He was pleasant, took their order right away, and their food came out promptly. Watching that interaction made our experience feel even more disappointing. The food, thankfully, was excellent as always. That's one thing Daikaya continues to get right. I also noticed that none of the staff members we're used to seeing--who have always been warm, welcoming, and respectful--were working that day. Overall, this visit was a rare disappointment because the customer service simply wasn't up to the standard we've experienced over the years. While this particular experience deserves a low rating, I also want to acknowledge that every previous visit has been excellent. I'm hoping this was just an off day because Daikaya has consistently been one of our favorite places for ramen.

I'm a huge fan of this place…read more My friend and I had the ACYE option here, and the food was fabulously good. I didn't have many of their rolls, so I can't comment on that. Their appetizer game was fire though. I did several rounds of the ceviche, maguro avocado, pepper tuna tatami, yellowtail jalapeño, and everything was absolutely delicious. The ceviche was a standout--the mango added just the right touch of sweetness to balance everything out. Overall, the apps were super fresh and light, so I never felt weighed down even after multiple rounds. Honestly, I wish I lived closer to DC--I'd be here all the time.

Maybe because of their lunch deal (which is a good one). It seemed like everyone was running around trying to take orders and drop off drinks and drop off food. My and my colleague's bento box was missing an item and we waited quite some time for it--along with my drink from the bar. Not saying all restaurants have to be personable, but there was no moment of respite for the staff so the entire meal, no one checked on us and I wasn't even able to inquire about the missing items and just waited for it to come. The food though was delicious. No one had any issues about the taste of their meal. There was concern at the end of the meal when the staff couldn't remember where a colleague's credit card was. Go for the food but have patience.

Wow. This restaurant was absolutely amazing! We have no complaints. The kids meal was so amazing…read morebecause of the amount of food it brought along with a lollipop (how cute was that!!!). My favorite was the spicy vegan ramen! It was milky, thick noodles, silky tofu, the broth... the BROTH WAS DIVINE!!! Perfectly spicy. The birria ramen was perfectly savory and hearty. The chicken ramen had nice broth and toppings but it wasnt my favorite. Please note, I am not vegan and again, my favorite was the spicy vegan ramen with tofu. The sangria was delicious, also (pretty random, I know). The only thing I wish was better was the service. I feel like our waitress was short with us and we felt rushed. I think she was a bit young and probably a little new? Not sure. Other than that, the food was 10/10.

I ordered the spicy pork belly ramen with a boiled egg. It was so flavorful and was very hot. I also order the pork dumpling. You can't go wrong with them. The service was good. Our waiter was friendly but was rushing us to order. The restaurant was going to close in 1.5 hours so I get it to a certain extent. However, it is never a great feeling when you are being rushed. The ambiance was nice. It wasn't too crowded so it was pretty quiet. We were able to watch a basketball game while we were eating our ramen so that was cool. It was a great experience. If you are in the area check it out. Cheers!

I had no idea what I was in for. Planta is GORGEOUS! Such amazing vibes. Looks straight out of Beverly Hills to me. I was stunned by the amazing interior. Both of my waitresses were amazing. Super caring and friendly. I was there alone and didn't feel lonely at all because they took such good care of me. Even when I was leaving and going back to my hotel, they bagged up my food and gave me extra napkins and sauces. So nice! I started with a watermelon cooler (N/A) and it was so refreshing and zesty. Their mocktail menu was incredible. And well priced for mocktails at about $7-$9. I started with fresh rolls and peanut sauce. I eat a lot of fresh rolls and am picky, but these were so good. Amazing peanut sauce, super fresh and crunchy, perfect herb balance. I got the vegan poke bowl with some charred tofu and WOW. The amount of flavors and textures in this bowl. I was amazed. I wish I could eat here every single day. Every part of my experience was incredible.

Wild how they make so much tasty vegan stuff. Although, my Korean fried Chick'n sandwich definitely needed more accompanying tater tots ( I had maybe 10). Food came out super fast. Service has to be 3 stars though. Our server said the gochujang mayo wasnt spicy, when gochujang is (it's got a mildly strong kick that quickly evens out/dissipates) so that's just incorrect to tell people who can't handle heat. More importantly, we were all done with desert at roughly 9pm and it wasn't until 9:40, despite multiple moments of eye contact from a few of us, that our server even came to our table to clear our plates. We'd all clearly been done, not even nibbling, for almost that whole time. In that time, other than his regular duties, our server seemed to do other idle things or "end of the evening" tasks, setting up other tables, stacking plates on them, etc. instead of checking on us. Again, a few of us made eye contact a couple times, which can indicate (along with none of us having touched our plates for 5-10 minutes) that we're done. Other plates had been cleared almost right away. We were also all left wanting for water at the end as no other staff came by to see if we needed more. So yeah, not thrilled about that. Also, it was weirdly a smidge too warm in Planta Queen tonight. I suspect the AC just wasn't on as strong because of the AQI in DC (on June 17, 2026) but it was noticeable.
