Owner is Very nice and prompt to great me when I came into the shop. I Dropped my dress off on a Monday and was quoted $125 for alterations which were shortening the dress and bringing it in on the waist. She told me to come back on Friday to pick it up. When I went in to pick it up on Friday she did not have it started yet. So it got pushed back another week. I read an earlier review stating that she did the same to them also but thought maybe it was a communication error but now I'm wondering if it is a common thing since it happened to me also. read more

She nice on the phone, but once I arrived, she discussed my price for the items I asked to be fixed. Before leaving her store, she stated, "the price would be $105." When I arrived to pickup my items she said, "$135.00" I told her that's not what you quoted me. Why have you increased the price? Then, she said, just give me $120! I said, tell me why the price has increase. Then, she said, $110- I said this is unacceptable." She said, just give me $105. She's dishonest, disrespectful, and price gouging! I used this alterations as my regular tailor was retiring. I took in 3 pairs of pants, 1 needed hemmed and tapered, one needed hemming but had zippers on the ankles( not sure how much work it was to do because of it), and one needed the waist a little bigger( she moved the zipper to give me more room). I wouldn't have complained, but she told me that it was going to be "around" $100 when I dropped it off. She never itemized the charges on my ticket, which i should have insisted. My fault! I was stunned to be charged $135! I mean, she is nice and skilled, but for some reason, I feel I was overcharged, considerably! I took a lot of clothes to my old alterations place and had a lot more complicated stitching done and was never charged as much as this lady did. read more

Unless you want your garments held hostage and the police to get involved, i wouldn't recommend this place. I never received a quote for the MINOR alterations i asked for and when i called a few days later to ask about pricing she quoted me $650. She was insisting she needed to do extensive reworking to my wedding gown because she didn't find it to be flattering on my body. I declined her recommendations and she refused to give me my dress back. I offered her $200 to stop working on it and give it back to me unfinished so i could take it somewhere else and she THREW MY GOWN ON THE FLOOR, stepped all over it, and locked it in a back room then proceeded to throw a temper tantrum like a child. She screamed at me for almost an hour as I calmly tried to come to an agreement with her just to get my dress back. I never refused to pay for the work that was completed or threatened her in any way, despite her claims. I was simply not paying $650 for work that was not done and that I did not ask for. Which in my opinion as a customer was completely reasonable of me. Given that there are multiple reviews from people claiming they were assaulted by this woman, i was scared honestly. She continued to get escalated when the police arrived, still refusing to return my garment to me. Plainfield Police told me they are there very often because this happens a lot apparently!!! During the arguments she called me fat, poor, uneducated, and even racist. It was all around a nightmare and she still ended up getting $350 from me for work that wasn't completed. A week before my wedding. Additionally, she only accepts cash or venmo payments. I did some research on her and it turns out her wages are being garnished due to excessive small claims cases (i would assume for similar issues) and court fees that she still owes. These court cases go back to 2015 when she was working out of Marion county, you can view them on My Case her name is Hye Kim. Extremely shady. She is a scam artist. Do not use her services under any circumstances, you will regret it like i do. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I am attending a wedding in TX and took a dress to Jinu's to be altered. The chest area of my dress was very exposed and I wanted more coverage. She said she would take some fabric from the bottom of the dress and use that to add fabric to the top. While she was taking measurements and taking down my information, she spent at least 20 mins talking badly about her competitors (Pro Alterations and Lin's Alterations) and about how they are rude, uncreative, and can't handle the stresses of the job. I thought that was very unprofessional. But I was excited that she was able to help me. She told me to come back Tuesday May 30th to pick up the dress. When I went in, she acted like she had no idea who I was or which dress was mine. She had not even started working on it. I told her I could give her until Thursday June 1, but that my flight left Friday morning so I had to have it by then. When I went back to pick it up, she was noticeably short with me. Rushed me through paying her $45 and got me out the door. I wasn't able to try on the dress until I got home. I put it on to discover SHE HAD NOT ALTERED THE DRESS AT ALL. She charged me for nothing! She obviously forgot about my dress and instead of being honest, she basically stole money from me. She had the dress for 2 weeks. If she wasn't going to be able to get to it, she could have told me when I was there on Tuesday. Instead she let me waste 2 more days AND took my money for no reason. I called her and asked her why nothing was done to my dress and she told me I could bring it back in. When I told her I didn't have any more time and that I'd rather have my money back, she hung up on me. I sent her a request for the money through Venmo (as that's how I paid her) and she has so far ignored it. I posted about it on the local FB chatter pages and was flooded with literally 100 comments with even more stories of ways she has ripped people off, grossly misquoted prices and then held items hostage, missed deadlines, or ruined items with shoddy workmanship. Unprofessional and rude owner and horrible seamstress who doesn't know up from down. If I could give this "business" zero stars I would. She is the most rude and unprofessional person I've ever met who owns a business. She doesn't know how to properly sew something. My boyfriend brought material in and asked her to sew curtains approx 19x27. He left them with her over a week. When he came back to pick them up, she hadn't started them. Said she'd have them the next day. She had them done the next day but didn't have a price for him. He, not knowing costs of items like this, said he had no idea. She charged him $95 for the curtain and a small valance and for two 1/2 inch tie backs. I have no idea if this is a good price had the work been professionally done. Regardless, he called me and sent me photos of the curtain (which is for a small travel trailer). She just folded the material over to do the back so the design (campers) are upside down on the back. It's ridiculous! When he took them back she said "I just folded it over...no one will see the back!" Really?! Because that's what people see when you're driving down the road! We have extra material and he asked her if she'd make it right. Yep, she would, but she would charge him to fix her sloppiness. He said he would take them elsewhere and left. I went over later in the week and showed them to her and asked her to fix them. She said she wouldn't talk to me because she wasn't dealing with me. She told me to leave them. I told her we aren't paying anymore to have them fixed. She told me she wasn't going to talk to me. I went to call my boyfriend to have him come so she would talk to me (he wouldn't come down - I think he was scared of her - he said she was mean and nasty to him). I went to Jinu's since it was close to where I work, and was very nervous. My wedding gown came in two weeks before my wedding. I immediately took it to Jinu, who was making my mother-in-law's dress for our wedding. The dress needed to be taken in in several places and Jinu knew I was on a time crunch and said she can get the work done. I was very nervous because she had to completely take apart the lace detail in my dress and put it all back together to create the right fit. I was worried my dress was going to be ruined, but Jinu put it all back together and better than ever. My dress fit like a glove and I know she worked very long nights to get it done in time for my wedding. She LOVES working on wedding gowns and it is truly her speciality. Took my daughter's prom dress in to take it in around the neck and add a clasp to the back. When I picked it up the clasp was not put on and there were two parts of the dress that she took apart but didn't sew back together. She asked if I can come back another day so she can add the clasp. She already had the dress 3 weeks and prom was the next day. The material around the neck was uneven and she said it was a manufacture defect but you can clearly see she took it apart. I LOVE this place! They do wonderful work! I buy all of my work pants from the limited ($60-$70/each) and I only take it to Jinu Alterations. They charge $7-$8/hemming job and if for any reason the hem comes undone, they'll redo it no charge! I took my wedding dress in on May 4, 2011 to get a bustle added on it... My wedding was June 11, 2011. I have very intricate ruching from top to bottom of my dress. It was also a still-framed silhouette mermaid dress and they told me I needed to get it altered because it didn't sit quite right. I said, "No, it fits great." They proceeded to clip, trim, and tuck along the frame of the dress and when they were done, "WOW!" it looked 100 times better than it did before!!! It was beyond my dream wedding dress!!! As I left they said it would be ready on May 21, 2011... I thought about it and I still needed to get it dry cleaned and pressed, plus I was getting married in California and I was leaving June 2... I didn't think 5/21/2011 - 6/1/2011 was enough time for Tuchman's Cleaners to clean and press my dress... I called back and said I needed the dress by 5/14/2011 and they said, "Ok." WOW!!! Beyond accommodating! I strongly recommend this place for every day alterations or special events alterations!!! The only "downside" (if it can even be called a downside) is that they speak very little English and it is difficult to understand them at times but that is a small sacrifice for TERRIFIC work. read more

Expensive and not worth the poor quality of work. I brought two simple dresses (not gowns or anything intricate) that I will use on my wedding day and she charged $400 total when she only hemmed them and on one of them she worked on the sleeves. The sleeve cuffs ended up being too tight, and the sleeves are webbed underneath the arms so I can barely move my arms. Her reply was, 'you don't need to raise arms at wedding' -__- I also asked her to leave a train on my dress and she opted not to leave a train without communicating this so when I came back to try the dress on it had already been cut. I will never go back here again. She was so rude, so I basically paid her to get my dresses back and run. There was a lot of fabric cut off and I did not get any of it back either. On top of that she asked if I'd like my dress steamed, for an added charge btw, because they were so wrinkly, when I wasn't satisfied with the work. ??? I should've listened to my gut. This was our first time using this alteration shop, and due to our experience, we never will again. We dropped off my husband's military jacket and four patches with specific directions of what needed to go where. Days later when we went to pick it up, she couldn't figure out the patches and sewed them on only one arm and didn't even bother to call us to ask for clarification. Once we got that straightened out and returned today to pick up the jacket, we were immensely disappointed. First, she refused to accept anything except for cash, which required a trip to the ATM. Second, she charged $87 to sew on 4 patches. That's ridiculous. Last - we got the jacket home and double checked to make sure it would pass inspection.....and oh my word. She completely sewed one sleeve shut under a patch. One was almost an inch off Place, two of them weren't completely sewed down and had gaps, and two of them weren't even close to being straight. We could've been better off just having our 10 year old sew this herself. read more

Took 16 skirts to have take only 1/2 to 1 inch off. 13 of my skirts were done wrong, had to been more than an inch or more taken off. They are now way above the knee, which I cannot wear & she charged me $200 & then turned the blame on me. I tried on 1 skirt & asked for all to be like that, my fault only for not putting on all skirts. Now I have to find someone who can take the hem out which is heemed alot to make them so I can wear. Horrible experience.... dropped off a prom dress and needed it brought in at the knees for a mermaid fit. Also, she added one piece of crinlin to the skirt to make it fuller. I have had a wedding dress altered before (not here) and had it shortened, taken in and a bustle put on. The fee was 75.00. So when I dropped my dress of to Jinu, I offered to pay at that time and the lady told me to pay when I pick it up. So..... my mom and I show up a week later to pick my dress up and she charged me 280.00!!!! I couldn't believe it... I continued to ask/ argue with her about how she came up with that cost and all she could say is. Her hands are very tired, her eye site is getting bad because she worked soooo hard on my dress and others.... I was willing to reason and pay 150.00 but she wouldn't budge... I had no option. This place smelled like tuna because of the awful food she was cooking in the back room where all of the other clothes were. After getting my dress home, it had to air out for 2 days! This lady completely took advantage of me and is a complete rip off... I believe in paying for what you get, she did a good job... but, I know she was wrong here... Beware. I do not normally write reviews, however for Jinu I have to. When you ind the perfect dress for your wedding, you dream of it looking a specific way. I had couple of friends tell me to go to one place in Plainfield. So I did, only to find out that what I wanted could not be done according to her. I was heart broken and panicking as I was 4 weeks out before the wedding. My mom googled near by places, and thankfully we decided to get a second opinion. We pulled in to Jinu's, and this sweet, precious lady politely greeted us. (Which I must add was a world of a difference from the previous place that made me feel like I was a nuisance) she told me people call her the miracle worker.... and that she did. She told me she could make my dreams come true. My dress apparently was a very complicated dress because of the material. She tweaked it 4 times, each time she did not complain one bit and maintained her positive, sweet personality. My dress was perfect. I took in 4 pair of jeans to have various things done to them. 1 hem, 1 zipper replacement and 2 pair that needed taken in just a bit on the waist. It's like I have 4 new pair of jeans! They did an amazing job! I was nervous about the jeans that were taken in but it's like they were made for me now. I can't say enough about them! I did find them a bit pricey but overall it was well worth it considering the pair that needed the zipper replaced were very expensive jeans to begin with. For what I had done, I paid $68. read more
