I had the lamb with green beans and my guest had prime rib with baked potato. We both had chicken soup. Our meal were very delicious and we enjoyed the experience. First impressions were promising, but the execution didn't live up to it. We stopped in for a nightcap and appetizers, and unfortunately both fell flat. The old fashioneds were a real letdown--club soda has no business in an old fashioned, and for a drink that's pretty straightforward to make well, these missed the mark entirely. The French onion soup was below average for what's supposed to be a high-end steakhouse, and we can't recommend the bruschetta either. The chicken Marsala was cooked perfectly and the sauce was to die for, I could have poured that over anything. I opted for a healthier side option over mashed potatoes and went with the mashed cauliflower and it didn't disappoint. It was just as creamy as potatoes but the flavors popped more and I did use some of the Marsala sauce on top which put it way over. The charbroiled mashed cauliflower had a little crunch, sweetness and finished with an amazing flavor bomb. Decent food and service for a Bradley graduation celebration with a family group, but very expensive for Peoria area. Dark atmosphere surrounded by pictures of famous visitors. Elevator to basement level and use old school candles. However for the bill, they added a mandatory 20% gratuity POST TAX which is not the proper calculation. There is no tip on the taxed amount, and expecting that is just ridiculous in a restaurant of this level. Asked the manager to correct the process, and he did take the forced tip on tax off for our specific receipt, but refused to correct that on an ongoing basis. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms and received the appetizer at least 30 - 40 minutes later. The salad and bread was served 20 minutes later. I had to ask when our main dishes would be served because it was taking so long. I waited and waited for my water to be refilled (it was my only beverage). I finally had to get up and take a fresh glass of water from an empty table. The waitress was kind enough to offer free dessert for our long wait. We took the dessert home as it was 7:30 and we had other plans. Here is the thing: We were told "well, it is a busy night and a bus boy did not show up". We were able to get in without a reservation and sat in the bar area. The service was very attentive and the portions were great! Five of us ordered the bone-in ribeye steak that was listed on the menu at $44.95. 15 -20 minutes after taking our order the waitress returned to the table and told us the price for the steak was wrong on the menu and the actually price was $99.00 and stated, " I'm sure this won't be a problem for you". Twenty of us took to a late Saturday bachelor party feast here. We found an old fashioned midwest steak house, ornate and heavy interior stuck in the basement without cell service or easy wifi, polite but vacant staff, didn't get waters refilled til our mains arrived; then the staff kept watering the table along with our glasses. Bread didn't appear until appetizers. Prices are out of touch given all sides are extra except a small soup or quickly thrown together salad. Most salads were curiously heavy on a pile of carrots. An Old Fashioned arrived for one friend which was the worst we ever had. Bland, unbalanced, no clear notes of anything, a complete shamble. But their Stonesour was sublime! Everyone went for steaks except three of us doing oysters. I did the scallops. Steaks seemed to go down well which for a basic American basement chef nest can't complain has it been Outback or Longhorn however these prices do not match the prime beef or the presentation. There was an odd lack of finesse to the entire affair. Everyone went homely in their attitude after we got going, a strange lack of seamless professional service for a restaurant of this caliber. I can happily say my scallops were excellent. The chili sauce going with the spiced rice couldn't reach any attempts to make this a thirty five dollar dish but as we all were starving due to the late dinner and lack of bread baskets it worked assuming Texas Roadhouse is the only comparison. I wouldn't come again or recommend given the better options in this city. I'd vote 2Chez over this any day and go east to Kemp 208 in Morton before Jim's. At least I didn't get food poisoning like the fiasco during another bachelor party just months ago across the river at Johnny's. read more

Well to start off I have to say we had a fantastic meal Saturday night. 4 adults and a 12y old and a 3 y old. My Negev and myself had a hard time choosing what to order but both desired on the bone in rib eye. Both med rare. Omg was that a great steak! The Girls had a fillet and the pot roast with mashed potatoes. Huge piece of meat and the pot roast was out of the park. We shared oysters Rockefeller and crab cakes. This didn't last long and were amazing! The 12y old had a very ample size fettuccine Alfredo portion. She just rolled her eyes back when asked if it was good. She claimed so good she forgot her name! Now the staff... we had a guy named Al that took care of our end of the table. He was funny and a top notch professional the 3 hours we were there. I didn't catch the other guys name but he happened to be from near my hometown. The waitress I can't for the life of me remember her name but she was so sweet and patient. She had a beautiful accent that complimented the entire evening. So we had a wonderful experience here at Jim's. I highly recommend you check it out if you're looking for a delicious decedent meal. I visited Jim's Steakhouse for the birthday of a family member. The food that ordered ranged from excellent to unacceptable. Soup Du Jour- Steak and Mushroom: Very flavorful. Old Fashioned w/Makers Mark: Just okay. The simple syrup used was plain white table sugar and not mixed well, resulting in sugar pooled at the bottom of the glass. When this was reported to the bartending staff the response was that this was typical. That is NOT typical. Cajun Ribeye Steak with grilled shrimp, seasoned rice, and garlic green beans. Steak: seasoned well. Cooked properly for medium. But I believe that the cut of meat was not quality. I was only able to stomach about three bites due to the toughness of the cut off meat. Initially, the steak knife that I was given was dull. Once I was given a new knife, I was able to get through the steak but it was still harder to chew. I was displeased and feel like my money was not well spent. Season rice: good Garlic Green Beans: Amazing! Dessert: The owner of the restaurant graciously offered the entire table dessert gratis. I chose the standard New York Style Cheesecake. The service was decent. The waitstaff was fairly attentive. I was referred to as "Hun" and "Babe" a few too many times for my liking by the server. I am used to being referred to as "Miss, Ma'am or Madam". I was quite surprised that no one ever actually asked if we were enjoying our meals considering the fact that two steaks were far less than half eaten and one pasta was also untouched at our table. My husband brought me here for the first time last week (he found it on a business trip about a month ago). Such a lovely, warm and classy setting! The host and wait staff were excellent. The menu, specials and drinks were explained to us without feeling rushed to order. We settled on the couple special and the French Onion soup. We loved our salads, fillets and salt encrusted baked potatoes. Everything came out steaming hot, the way I like it! We were too stuffed to order dessert, but the chocolate-covered strawberries were eaten with great enjoyment. How have I never reviewed Jim's?! I've been to Jim's quite a few times and the food is always so good and I always leave with a happy and fully belly haha. We like to save Jim's for special occasions or a nice date night. We've also been to Jim's for work dinners. Service is always exceptional. I almost always get the lobster as my main entrée and a salad with the Brittany dressing (bacon-y goodness... if you like bacon you will LOVE this dressing)... sometimes I crave this dressing and go for dinner for this reason alone.
