Terrible service here. Food was very disappointing. Grandmas 96th birthday and a waste of $227 dollars. Chicken Marsala literally tasted as if the noodles came out of water no seasoning whatsoever and the piece of chicken was probably 6 oz. Also my steak had raw bacon rapped around it and I asked for a medium rare steak not a rare and raw steak. Went as a family on a Friday night. Most had a decent dinner. The soup of day - chicken corn chowder was descent but way too salty. I ordered the broiled seafood combo (salmon, scallops, shrimps & tilapia). Since it was broiled, I expected some chard, crispy outer layer, nope (closer to steamed), got seafood sitting on a shallow pan of broth/juices. Taste was OK, a bit bland. The brandy old fashions were ok, a typical bar drink, not a hand crafted, muddled fruit cocktail as the price would suggest. The food was excellent. We came for the prime rib and we're happy we did. They have three sizes. The petite cut was the perfect size for all of us. $29.00 and it comes with soup or salad and starch. They also start you out with home made bread and cinnamon butter -- yum! The prime rib was perfectly rare as ordered and comes with a side of horseradish and au jus. The soup of the day was chicken noodle and very good. I upgraded to the French onion soup. It gets 5 plus stars. Very beefy and oniony served in a crock with melted cheese. The house salad was fresh and large. We ordered the asparagus and it was enough to share. I had heard good things about dinner here and when a friend wanted to do their lunch, I thought it would be the same thing or similar...however, i was wrong sadly and i was quite disappointed. I ordered a wrap with turkey, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. There were a couple pieces of lettuce, two pieces of tomato, 1 strip of bacon, and more tortilla wrap than anything else almost. On top of that, there was no real flavor, all of it being pretty blaise. The fries that came with it were room temperature and on top of that, almost soggy. To top it all off the service was almost non-existent and the place had about 5 tables total, so it wasnt even that busy. Not gonna say this is a terrible place but I won't go back Me and my boyfriend went on our anniversary and pretty much everything we ordered was not good at all our appetizer was so bland and when it came out was not the best looking either. My dinner was their signature seafood dish and the shrimp was very good and one scallop, the salmon and my tilapia was not good at all very mushy and no flavor to either. I could've made better tilapia at home then spend the 120$ we spent on our special night. My boyfriend got a giant steak that had no flavor and was so charred it wasn't good. I also got French onion soup and it looked like a Sewer when it came out to me. And was way too salty and sweet and sweet and not what I usually taste in that kind of soup. I hope yall can start making way better dishes with some spices or something. I'm not a chef or anything but I know how to cook and could've had a better night than we did. We have been pleasantly surprised by the hospitality, service, and food we have received. It has become a ritual for us and look forward to many more dinners and anniversaries. The last time we were there we observed young couples enjoying themselves and wonder if they too may be following in our footsteps. Went on a Friday night around 6:30 without a reservation but was able to get seated right away. We sat in a booth in the back room and it felt cozy but it was a little dark. I had the French onion soup which was very good and quite hot. They put the "baked" in the baked French onion soup. It was nice and salty with plenty of onions and a nice flavor. My entree was the steak Caesar salad and that was also pretty good. There was a decent portion of the steak tips to top off the the Caesar with also lots of Parmesan cheese. My wife had the large cut Strip Steak and she said it was very good. It came out sizzling which seemed to be the way most of their food was served. She also had a couple of margaritas that she said were excellent. I would recommend this place and would give it a rating of 4.25 out of 5. read more

Good service, great steak. It took a while to get my t-bone delivered, but it was well worth the wait. Steaks come with soup or salad and a side, even though that wasn't listed on the menu (or I missed it.) I guess it's an assumption. I didn't see the sides listed, either, but the potatoes au gratin were worth the slight upcharge. It was interesting being there as a table of one (I'm up here on business) in a place obviously populated by couples, groups of friends and families, but I didn't feel that out of place. I realized that my waitress didn't mention the specials to me, but that may just have been an oversight. I also just got my check without being asked about dessert or coffee, but she may have known the answer from the meat sweats I was exhibiting. I don't usually mention places that tolerate singles (without putting you at the bar), but I was happy that it didn't seem to be an issue, even on a Saturday night. I will go back. Went on valentines day and everything was just ok. Nothing great, ranch dressing was just ok. Cinnamon butter, or what I think was Cinnamon butter was separated. The bacon wrapped filet, the bacon was raw. I got a baked potato and they didn't even bring butter or sour cream, had to ask for it. Got asparagus as an additional side it was literally raw with salt and pepper on it. The homemade bread was tasteless. We generally will go to Jim's Steakhouse or Texas Roadhouse in Peoria but wanted to try something different as the options in this area for a good steak are extremely limited. I ordered the large cut of Prime Rib. I ordered it on the rare side of medium rare. The prime rib was tasty and prepared appropriately. The side dishes (Au Gratin Potatoes) not so good. The (Asparagus) was not the best quality by any means. My wife ordered the filet mignon and it had absolutely no flavor. She would dip it in my au jus to add some flavor to it. My father in law ordered the ribeye with much to the same result. The restaurant serves mini loaves of bread with some type of cinnamon butter which does not have any type of sugar just cinnamon this was less than pleasing. The french onion soup was okay but way to salty. I could go on but you can see this review is going south quicker than a bears playoff game. The whole dinner was $143 and we left a $32 tip. The service was very good just not the food. We won't be going back. I was in the mood for prime rib and wanted to go to Guzzardos in Lincoln, Illinois which is (35 Miles) further down the road. Wow. Just wow. Chose Lariat for our anniversary dinner because it has always been one of our favorite places...not any more! Cocktails: I ordered a Cosmo to be made with a certain vodka and Grand Marnier (rather than triple sec)...totally tasted like lighter fluid. My hubby ordered a Goose Island beer, thank goodness...hard to mess that up. From there, things continued downhill. Ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms. There were about 4 mushrooms, barely stuffed but overly coated in melted cheese. Salads looked like they were leftover from the previous weekend...wilted lettuce (what wasn't wilted was brown and mushy) mushy tomatoes and mushy cucumbers. We both ordered our steaks medium rare. My hubby's was perfectly prepared, mine on the other hand was well done, not even a hint of pink! Definitely sent back. Opted not to have another prepared. On the up side, no charges for my cocktail or meal but...not an enjoyable meal. When I signed on to do this review, Yelp advised, basically, to cut vendors/businesses some slack 'due to Covid' considerations ... I'm totally done with the Covid excuses...Prices have skyrocketed and are being passed on to patrons. If businesses keep falling back on this crap, people WILL go elsewhere or stay home. read more

This is a classic steakhouse; dark wood; expansive and expensive but i had to try it. baked potato was good but loaded was a sprinkle of cheese and bacon bits; fresh hot bread was good with fresh butter; steak was greasy but hot, served on a sizzle skillet but it continued to cook and was partially burnt and chewy. i've had better. the server was good and attentive. probably the best "up seller" person i've ever had provide services to me; ceasar salad was good but over dressed; and french onion soup was more like a bowl of beef broth that had sat on the stove all day. very concentrated with one flavor with a piece of saturated bread and cheese baked on top. best thing i had was a great martini. i'm sure its a Peoria standard but i'll stand in line at Texas roadhouse instead. As I walked in I noticed a empty snicker wrapper on the floor. The decor was bad and it seemed like a grandmas house in the dining room. We started off by sitting down and were given our drinks rather quickly but the filling of our drinks fell off throughout our time dining. We received our food and I immediately noticed a hair in the cheese of my burger and when I bit into my fries it tasted like cold mush. Unseasoned as all get out and presented terribly seeming to just be throwing on the plate. By this time drinks stopped coming and my cheeseburger was nothing to write home about people at my table were disappointed with their chicken saying it was dry. Then we received the dessert which was their chocolate cake. This cake was just about the only thing good about this place. You would expect a steakhouse to have a good hamburger or at least something memorable that stands itself out against other restaurants but this was not the case. We tried Lariat for the first time last night, all seemed well from the start. Ordered Regular Size Ribeye and the Steak Kabobs both cooked medium. The ribeye was cooked well done and was the size and thickness of a steak you would put on a bun and one of the Kabobs was well done with the other closer to rare no where's near the same. Neither choice had any seasoning noticeable to the taste buds and the A-1 did not help which I shouldn't have to use in my opinion. Upon paying for the order the server apparently thought it would be alright to keep the .37 cents in change which is stealing unless I offer it to YOU. I've been there a few times for special events and thought maybe the mediocre food was because of the large group. However I went for regular dinner and had a steak, supposedly a rib-eye. It tasted like butter and char, not like any ribeye I've ever had. No appreciable steak flavor. This might have passed for a good restaurant in 1962 but people expect more now. You will not find a better dinner anywhere period. Yes it is very pricey but we are talking the best steak and lobster you will ever taste. Anyone can write a review nowadays but proof is in the pudding and The Lariat has it and then some. Great atmosphere, plenty of seating, a fire place this is what you call a place for romance. It does take some time for perfection (Steaks/Lobster) so you will wait, ours was about 45 minutes. But during that time our waitress brought us our drinks and our salads and bread. Plus it gives you time to talk. This is a 10 on the return meter for me. But just to make sure you understand what perfection costs. Two Lg. filets, Two Lg. Lobster Tails, Two Baked Potato's and Two drinks and Tip $350.00 out the door. Yes I know (what the hell) that's too high. But remember I ordered the most expensive Items on the menu.
