While in Holyoke late at night I needed to fuel up so I decided to stop in at Jim's Auto Center. This station is one of the smaller stations in Holyoke but it has both full and self serve pumps. This station also is open 24/7 which makes late night fueling easy. The staff here is always polite and whenever I drive by I feel as though they are holding a community event like car washes. In the end this is a decent gas station. It is the one I prefer to go to when in the Holyoke area. read more

I feel like the true test of a decent garage is how they treat female customers. I am one of those women who knows a thing or two about vehicles and vehicle repair, mostly due to being too broke to pay a garage to fix my car, and having mechanically inclined friends assist me in repairing my own car. My alternator went on my car. I knew this. I told them that. Obviously they arent going to take my word for it entirely, they have to be sure. No problem. I asked for them to guve me a ring once they definitively concluded thst this was the issue. I waited until 4pm the next day to call, since I hadnt heard from them. They told me my car was all set and ready to be picked up. Let me interject here that alternators take under an hour to replace, and are usually not a super expensive part, however the alternator for my car was a little pricey. At Auto Zone my alternator was priced at $184. I know garages mark the price up, and I get that. So I assumed they would probably charge me about $250 for the alternator, then an hour of labor at $75/hr (which is on the high end for this area, but ok), so I expected a total of about $350 at most. I called, they told me the car was ready. I asked the total, and was told it was $461.60. Ouch. I reserved my skepticism for the work order, hoping that they fixed something else to come to that total. Nope. $89 for charging my battery and alternator, and $350 for the alternator itself, then tax. Needless to say, that was the first and last trip my car will be making there. read more

This place are crooks. I took my car in for repairs with a estimate of $75 to diagnose the issue. As I waited for my ride he diagnosed it within minutes. I got home and half hour later he calls and says the control module was bad. I asked how much to fix it? And he said he didnt know because he hadn't written it up yet and wont know the price until then, but it was almost finished. I said then call me back. He calls 20 minutes later and says its all finished and its $416. He charged $175 for the diagnosis without telling me, then $252 for a $100 part. When I picked it up I neither got a detailed receipt or work order, and no used parts. He tells me other sensors might be bad and the light may come back on but it wont effect the way the car runs. Within hours the light was back on, and it is misfiring again. Not only are they rude but thieves too. If you got this treatment report them to the Mass Atty Generals office, and the BBB. read more

My car failed inspection other "other" and "visible smoke"... the other being an oil leak that he told me he couldn't actually see, the the visible smoke I can only account to my exhaust. My car is in excellent condition (which he also told me after failing me?) and after bringing it to my mechanic he informed me I'd been had. My mechanic looked my car top to bottom and said not only was there not a leak but he has NEVER heard a car failing for such a ridiculous claim. My car passed inspection with flying colors after zero change. And to the nasty man who spoke with me on the phone, good riddance. I will not only never be coming back to your location but I will surely tell everyone I know about my experience. Whether it was blatant sexism or mere ignorance, you clearly do not know what you are doing Jim. read more

I can't speak to the service end of the business but I bought gas there two days ago and had them pump it for me as they are a full-service gas station. While gas in the area is running at about 2.39to 2.45 a gallon, I was charged $3.39 a gallon!!! I think this is really price gouging. You know you're going to be charged 20 or 30 cents more for full-service-but this was ridiculous. I'm giving them two stars because the guys who pump gas are pleasant, but I most likely will never stop there again for gas, even if I pump it myself read more

Very helpful and respectful. I have taken my car there a number of times from oil changes to brake replacement. They are always helpful. They do a great job and discuss everything with you before proceeding with any repairs. Very pleased with their service. read more

Review is for the gas station / inspection station only. Never had repair service here. One of the only full service gas stations in this area, which some prefer (especially those of us who have lived in NJ at some point). Inspection service is always busy, but really cranks through the lines of cars. read more

It's kind of crummy. If you get your car inspected there, they'll find really petty excuses to fail the car, in the hopes that you'll get the corrections made there. On the plus side, if they fail you, you'll up to get sixty days to bring it back and get a re-inspection without charge (although this may be standard, I'm unsure.) read more

While I have been going to this station for my inspections and late night snacks for 10 years, I dont think I'll be going again anytime soon. The vast majority of the time the staff doing the inspections and at the register are very polite and quick, there is one older employee who always has a surly attitude whenever I have the misfortune of running into him. Today I needed my car inspected as it was almost at the end of the month. I pulled in at 4:10 or 4:15 knowing that they stop DOING inspections at 4:30. I sat outside as they always tell me to do, but noone came out. After 5 or 10 minutes I went inside to ask if the person doing inspections had gone home. The older surly gentleman told me they had stopped doing inspections because it was 4:20 or so. I told him I had been sitting outside for 5 or 10 minutes and that the sign says they do inspections UNTIL 4:30. He told me I was not sitting outside. I told him I was a long time customer and I was shocked that he was calling me a liar and acting like this. He responded that he had "Never seen me before." Well theyll never see me, or my business again. I used to tell people it was a great place to get inspected because they didnt try to find BS reasons to fail you and offer to do the work at an inflated rate. I guess now I'll tell people not to go there because they will be extremely lazy, and rude if you happen to catch the wrong employee. read more
