Don't order the hotdog. Or expect it quick. Ordered mine with chili, onions, cheese and bacon. Not palatable to this New England traveler and took an hour for two dogs and a small fries. Chili was simply greasy minced beef with no seasoning. Melted cheese was limp and barely warm. Bacon was so burned I had to take if off the dog. The dog itself is tasty. A little too rubbery, but the flavor was there. Bun was the best part. Besides the dog, the place is very comfortable, you can tell a lot of regulars come here everyday. Service was mediocre. Came after the lunch rush but the waitress forgot the order twice. For a place that advertises as a "quick lunch" it took us an hour to get all of our food. read more

Destination restaurant is the best way to describe Jimmy's. Known for it's hot dogs, the joint is a staple of Hazleton. The dogs are good, not great. They won't upset your stomach like many served at stadiums, ballparks and street cars, but they aren't something to brag about either. The chili is just right. Not too "dry" (as stated on another review) -to my taste at least- nor too mushy, otherwise it'd be very difficult to eat. Best chili dog ever. Period. Jimmy's is a Hazleton staple - the Jimmy Dog is as much a part of Hazleton as a Senape's Pitza. My parents are from Hazleton, so I know this place well. It hasn't changed a bit over the years. This is a second or third generation family business, and the interior is vintage lunch counter all the way. If you're a hot dog junkie, get in the car and come here. The dogs are a great size, the chili is perfect, and the bun is dead-on. This place is noisy, busy, and surly, just like a lunch counter should be. There's other stuff on the menu besides the dogs, but I've never ventured away from chili dog perfection. I visit Jimmy's every month when we make the trek to Hazleton to get my husband's haircut. Seriously great hot dogs. The chili sauce is tasty and the dog is nice and plump. Gimmie a Jimmy! I grew up on jimmy's! We went there weekends from the time I was 5 or 6. The hotdogs done on the grill, not boiled or microwaved, get at least 2, if not more, they make them so fast you can't blink or you'll miss it. Onions, chili, mustard, kraut, green relish, bacon, cheese, ketchup. Anything you want. Jimmy's quick lunch is not just for lunch we've had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't stop at the hot dogs, try the other food too. Mac and cheese on Fridays, potato cakes during lent. Chip steak sandwiches like you make at home, chip steaks, oozing cheese. It's a local restaurant, but you'd be surprised how many people from even hundreds of miles away take time for a jimmy dog. Jimmy's has always been great. One of the very few reasons I actually hang around hazleton. If I could buy Jimmy's just to have them right next to my house I would. Food is great service is great and watching them dress the hot dogs is something you will always remember. This was a busy place - 5 min. wait for menu. Not too bad though. Drinks were quick. Old decor but a comfortable old. Food was delicious. Waitress was very friendly. My neighbor friend was surprised that she could get chocolate soda. You could get your Fries with gravy or cheese or cheese AND gravy or cheese AND chili. Dogs were balanced with mustard, chili & onions as it should have been. Many combinations of dogs, but I'm only looking for an original Chili Dog and they NAILED IT! Delicious. This diner like place has been serving up quality dogs Long before my time and keep it simple but good. The view if the dogs on the flat top from a side walk view is something most places do not offer to their patrons and ads to the experience. I went in while my boyfriend was getting a haircut across the street. It was busy so 15 mins with one waitress isn't bad to get an order taking. I ordered TWO hot dogs. A famous Jimmy's and one with just ketchup. Watched as all orders were filled. This is including the walk in orders that u can see being made in front of you. Two ladies were making them and sending out the door. 40 mins while waiting for my order to be taking and being made, I asked for the bill of my drink to leave. I told the waitress 40 minutes for two hot dogs a drink was way to long. The waitress is now on one side of the restaurant and me on the other when she tells me how busy it is. She also tells me that she has been calling back for a cheese bun and that is why it took so long. The other two ladies that were making the take out orders now step in and make my hot dogs with in two mins and said they never got my order. Now mind you my drink was made as soon as my order was taking. Sis all in all it took 15 mins to order and get a drink and another 25 mins to make two hot dogs. Seems like the place knows there regulars and please them. Got no sorry for how long I waited but got the blame put off as to why it took so long. Will not be returning.
