The Bobbie Hot? A masterpiece of messy indulgence -- a sandwich that didn't apologize for itself. Now it's a ghost. The dining room is empty. Just me, the hum of the fridge, and a sense that nobody cares. The staff move like they're sleepwalking. Slow, disinterested, on their phones. I watch a guy come out of the bathroom, head straight for the kitchen, ladle soup without washing his hands, then grab his phone. You don't even need to see the rest -- this tells you everything. The doors stick. The soda fountain's tacky with syrup and neglect. The bathrooms smell like a truck stop. The tables? Sticky. Everything is sticky. This isn't just a sandwich shop -- it's a cautionary tale. Thirty-five minutes later, my sandwich finally lands in front of me. Nobody said a word, nobody looked at me, nobody cared. The cook mumbles an apology. The girl on her phone shrugs. The sandwich is good. Really good. Hot, loaded, indulgent -- proof the heart of the place is still beating somewhere under the mess. But twenty bucks and thirty-five minutes for a single sandwich? That's not patience. That's endurance. Capriotti's used to have soul. Now it's just going through the motions. You want to root for them. You want to believe they can come back. But nostalgia isn't enough to save a sticky floor, disinterested staff, and a dining room that feels like a ghost town. Do better, Capriotti's. You were great once. You could be again.

Ambience and customer service were just... there. Nothing offensive, nothing memorable. It's giving "get your order and go," which honestly works if the food's this good. If you're in it for the sandwich game, don't let the dry vibe throw you off -- the flavor makes up for the rest.

We were just here a few weeks ago and I am so bummed to see they permanently closed!! We came during lunch and took advantage of their weekday lunch combo (Tues-Fri, 11am-2pm), which includes soup and a half grilled cheese. You can choose from the OG, Kick in the Cheese, or Fancy grilled cheese, plus either tomato basil bisque or the soup of the day. Honestly? A dream setup. I ordered the tomato basil bisque with a half OG grilled cheese, and wow... just wow. The soup was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, and the grilled cheese delivered that classic, beautiful cheese pull moment you hope for (and rarely actually get). The cheese had the perfect amount of sharpness and subtle bitterness, balancing everything out so well without being overwhelming.. I seriously could go for one right now! Every bite was comforting and delicious, and I immediately wished I had ordered a full OG sandwich because it was that good. The combo was mouth‑watering, satisfying, and wildly exceeded expectations for a quick lunch stop.

Side salad was nice and fresh. The latte was also amazing, not too sweet, nice fresh espresso that wasn't over extracted. The servers were sweet and attentive. No notes! Overall, this was a breath of fresh air. Definitely deserves a try if you are in the area!

Five Hours on the River + Cheba Hut = Damn Near Perfect…read more Went back to Cheba Hut and yep -- still love this place. We came in after about a five-hour float down Beaver Creek, grabbed some drinks, hung out at the bar and demolished an AK-47 French Dip and a Thai Stick. After five hours on the water, it absolutely hit the spot. The bartender was fun, easy to talk to, and added to what we already like about this place -- it just has that laid-back, fun vibe. Good food, good drinks and good conversation. Prices are pretty typical, but if you get there after 8, happy hour kicks in and the bar gets downright cheap. Definitely worth knowing. The AK-47 was hot, cheesy and perfect with the au jus, and the Thai Stick was a great mix of chicken, pineapple, pickles and everything else packed into it. Both sandwiches were loaded and exactly what we needed after being out on the river all day. Cheba Hut has become one of those places we know we can walk into, grab a seat at the bar, relax, eat well and have a good time. Go. We'll be back again and again.

My parents visited this year during the Iowa State fair. We talked about the fried chicken place in San Francisco that they love. I told them about Chikin Lickin and that it would be WAY better than that SF place. They tried the 6 wing meal basket with sweet and spicy sauce mixed in. THEY LOVED IT! We came back the next day and ordered 30 chicken wings to split between the three of us. THAT IS HOW GOOD THE FRIED CHICKEN IS HERE. The juicy chicken meat, the crunchiness of the fried skin, and the delicious sweet and spicy sauce is a combination that cannot be beat. Thank you Chikin Lickin for being so delicious!

The chicken wings and tenders were huge!! The chicken had the perfect crunch and the sauce was delicious. Service was very friendly and patient as we decided what to order. They greeted each person that walked in quickly and friendly. I loved that the restaurant has a sink to wash your hands before and after the meal right in the dining area! As I went back there to wash my hands, I noticed that they have a pay it forward area! Customers pre-purchase items and others in need can redeem them. Love that thought! Overall, loved the food and experience at Chickin Lickin! Will definitely go back next time we are in the area.

Off to a good start so far. My husband ordered our chocolate peanut butter milk shakes. Choose surprise, they have never heard of a peanut butter chocolate milkshake! However, they did what they could and made us one. Sadly, they use chocolate ice cream and added peanut butter rather than doing the normal vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, and peanut butter. They were a little too rich for our liking, but we really appreciated the effort. The baristas were very nice. All in all, a pretty good trip. Next time, if we come again, will make sure to let them know how to make the shakes to our liking.
