We were seated and ordered two pizzas, cheesy bread, and a side of red sauce. We also informed our waitress that we planned to place a to-go order once our food arrived. We waited about 40 minutes without receiving our food. During that time, we watched people arrive and participate in the line dancing class. Eventually, another waitress approached us and offered to take our order. At that point I became concerned that our order had not even been started. She refilled our water and told us she was already clocked out. We waited another 20 minutes. We still had no food, and we couldn't smell or see any indication that our order was being prepared. We tried to get the attention of the waitress who had refilled our water, but she was enjoying her evening, drinking wine with a friend. We had no idea who was responsible for helping us or how to cancel our order, so we made the decision to leave. As we were walking to our car, the off-the-clock waitress came outside and threatened to call the police if we did not pay for our order. She claimed we had only been there for 20 minutes and had left before the kitchen could prepare our food. This was completely inconsistent with our experience of waiting approximately an hour. I sent my family to the car and returned inside to explain what had happened. The waitress stated that the restaurant had cameras so I asked her to review the footage to verify how long we had been there. I also requested to speak with a manager only to be told that the manager was not there. She initially apologized and offered to give us our food for free. However, after speaking with the cook and realizing our order included more than one pizza, she changed the offer to 50% off and assured me the pizzas were fresh. I paid for the order accepted her apology but when she placed the order in my hands I realized that the food was cold. When we got home we discovered that at least one slice of the pepperoni pizza was missing. What makes this experience especially upsetting is that we are an interracial family and being confronted and threatened with police involvement over a situation that could have been handled through basic communication and customer service was disturbing to say the least. I cannot speak to the waitress's intentions but the way we were treated left us feeling disrespected, unwelcome, and deeply uncomfortable. We understand that mistakes and delays can happen at any restaurant but what matters is how a business communicates with its customers and resolves problems. We were patient, we communicated our intentions, and we tried to handle the situation reasonably. Instead, we experienced poor communication, an unnecessary confrontation, questionable food quality, and a missing slice of pizza after paying for our order. This was not just about waiting for pizza. It is about how my family and I were treated when things went wrong. We went in hungry and excited to support a new restaurant and left feeling angry, disappointed, and disrespected. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Geno's Pizza, and we will not be returning. Around 1:20 the restaurant completed a DoorDash order which was placed after our initial order. (I know this due to the noise that the ordering machine makes when a door dash order is placed) then at 1:30 we thought our sandwiches were coming out. Nope they were serving their kids who were in the restaurant a sandwich before us. Then at 1:34 we got our 3rd sandwich. By this time I just asked to a refund on the 4th sandwich and couldn't believe the level of service that was provided was below even the bare minimum. No greeting. No utensils. No napkins. Everything has to be asked for. Will never be coming back.
