#16 Club Lulu, w provolone. Meh
Scott J.

As far as fast food sub shops go, this is quick but lacking quality. I'd rate this below Jersey Mikes and Subway... Ambiance is very casual. Service at this location was fine, sandwich was up quick! I got the #16 Club Lulu (added provolone and yellow mustard) which was pretty basic. Bread and wasn't great, turkey was mediocre, lettuce and tomato were fresh. Though there is nothing bad with Jimmy John's, there was nothing too special either and if you're going to charge the same as your competitors your food should be as good. Back to Jersey Mike's I go when I need a quick fix.

I see a lot of negative reviews but I've always had a good experience at this location. I recently needed a last minute catering box so I called and they were able to have it made in 15 minutes which I appreciated. The only tricky part about this location is parking because it's on Beverly which can be hard to find parking on.

Black and Bleu sandwich

Black and Bleu sandwich! It may not look like much, but the combination of the Bleu cheese, onions and fresh cracked pepper - the flavors and textures (I love the bite of their bread) is perfect. Oh, and the app is easy to use - easy to favorite orders and reorder etc.

#11 county club: TURKEY, HAM & PROVOLONE lettuce, tomato & mayo. Tasty on wheat

Oh, it presents as a textbook Jewish deli of old, with traditional brown booths and paneled dividers, dark Formica tables, and a menu featuring the greatest hits of deli dining. But the food here is overpriced and underwhelming, like so many of the other delis around town these days. The staff is nice, for sure. They welcome you with smiles, seat you quickly, and immediately offer you drinks. Everything is clean and well-preserved, so you feel like you're in for a great meal. I ordered my usual: Pastrami on Rye, Russian Dressing on the side, with Potato Salad. To drink: Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray, the very best soda for cutting through the richness of deli meat. The sandwich came promptly, and looked quite nice. The portion was appropriate for a normal sandwich (as opposed to being ridiculously stuffed), and the pastrami was nicely marbled. But looks can be deceiving. The bread was a bit too dense -- possibly made that way, or possibly a touch stale. Either way, after 2 bites I abandoned the bread and just ate the meat. The pastrami, while juicy with a soft texture, lacked flavor. I believe they bring their meat in from a purveyor, and the lack of inspiration is evident. Potato salad was also generously portioned, but had far too much mustard, and the result is a side dish that feels more Southern Picnic than Lower East Side. Again, this is a Deli serving a so-so sandwich at a price nearly the same as Katz's in NYC, and it's a shame. It's just not worth it. I've come to find that the best pastrami in Los Angeles is being served at places Johnny's in West Adams or on special at BBQ places, and usually at 2/3's the price. When it comes to Nate & Al's, I wouldn't say never go, but I wouldn't expect much bang for your buck -- or in the case of the pastrami sandwich, your 27-bucks.

Ordered through Postmates, which delivery took a bit to get to me. Didn't mind the wait though. Let me just say, this soup was worth the wait. Chicken was cooked perfectly and the carrots were soft and easy to cut into. I really enjoyed the matzo ball. Now what took this soup over the top was the bagel chips! OMGeeee... a variety of various bagels was really a delightful surprise. So how good is the matzo ball soup? Definitely in my top two favorite places. Highly recommend it! I am so happy Postmates recommend this spot for me to try! I definitely will be back and can't wait to try more menu items. For now, I will be dreaming of those delicious bagel chips. I personally prefer a lighter sauce, so we asked for light Russian dressing, which was perfect. The portion size is great and definitely easy to share. I also loved the side cucumber vinaigrette salad--it was fresh, light, and delicious. We tried the chicken schnitzel sandwich as well, which was crispy, flavorful, and very satisfying. The only downside is the parking situation. There are just a couple of spots, so you'll most likely need to find street parking. The inside is small, but they make up for it with plenty of outdoor seating. You order inside at the counter and they bring it out to you. Prices are fair for the quality and portion sizes. Honestly, you're getting something comparable (if not better) than Langer's, with a better location and vibe. Can't wait to come back!

The crust was so hard. I ate two bites. Added mustard. And it was still not eatable. The coleslaw was dry coleslaw supposed to have some juice. This one did not. Now let me go onto the pickles. I love pickles. I eat pickles twice a week all over the country. in fact all over the world I've had pickles. These were the worst I've ever had. I don't know what has happened to Canter's but Canter's is no longer a good deli. I would avoid going there at all cost. The only good thing about it was the service. The tables and everything look rundown. Personally, I can't see it being around that much longer.

Unfortunately since I didn't see what the #19 looked like before I ordered; I believe it definitely jaded me. First off, the location is terrible. Look it's probably me, but it felt dangerous. I guess I am not used to places like that. Just everything made me feel uneasy while walking to Langer's. I read that the owner is talking to the mayor to address things.... In any case, I got in, got out and took my #19 to another location. I opened it up and it didn't look like any NYC pastrami sandwich I have ever seen. I guess this is the way it used to be before the NYC sandwiches started getting ridiculously huge? I took a bite and I did like the crusty rye bread. Unlike a lot of NYC places where the bread is just to hold the meat, this one was toasty and tasty. However when I ate this sandwich, the coleslaw and Russian dressing dominated the taste. Was it good? Yes. Was it the "one" sandwich to eat if you are in Los Angeles? I don't think so. I guess we are so jaded with huge pastrami or fancy new sandwiches that this just seems so underwhelming. Add to the hyperbole about it being THE ONE to get and it just falls flat in the comparison. It's a good sandwich and if I ate for the last 30 years, I'd probably feel the hype was justified.
