Jimboy's Tacos - I was here three months ago, and I wanted to come back again... I think their tacos are great - Mexican Near Me - Reno, Nevada

The enchiladas were gross. The tacos were okay but way too heavy on the salt and very oily. Service was okay the lady was pretty helpful when it came to ordering. Threw most of the food away due to not feeling too good after eating it. read more

I'd agree our food tasted consistent with a solid 3 star yelp review. It wasn't bad necessarily, but it certainly wasn't crave worthy. The service was fast but it didn't feel very friendly or welcoming inside, kinda just "got the job done" bare minimum kind of vibe. The super burrito with everything was mostly sour cream and guacamole (very mushy burrito.... Not much varying texture) and the meat was chewy and some pieces were fatty. When I opened my burrito to see if maybe all the guac and sour cream were just on one end I saw that it was that heavy throughout the whole burrito. I also noticed the guac was oxidized (very grey looking...). Not appetizing, but I was hungry and exhausted from having a stay in the ER and PICU with my young child and ate it (I later questioned myself for doing so...). Fortunately I got to bring my kiddo home from the hospital and I never ended up with food poisoning so that was a plus. read more

This location is open the latest and we stopped by for a late late snack on the way home the other night. Coach don't judge me, but I had to. Their ground beef tacos and burritos just hit different. Their hamburger tacos were a pregnancy craving of mine. The main guy that's here in the evening/window is fast and efficient. Their food must be had with their hot sauce; it makes a difference. I haven't set foot in a Jimboys since my last pregnancy. All visits since then have been through the drive thru. I've never had bad service here and their dining room looks the same. No recent updates. They remind me of old Godfathers pizza places back in the day. Iykyk. Tables and old booths and a few old vending machines. read more

It was my first time visiting, and I decided to try the Tahoe burrito. The filling was a bit mushy, almost like porridge, and the rice seemed slightly undercooked. But overall, the flavors were good and I actually enjoyed it. I'd come back to try more items! read more

Went to two locations, Foresthill and 2nd St in Reno. Both were great, not my first time here, but it's been a while. Stopped in Foresthill on the way up to Reno, wife liked it and requested we 'stop at another before we go home". She enjoyed her steak taco enough that it made a real impression on her! My steak and carnitas tacos were both great, I appreciate the effort made to grill the tortillas and the addition of the Parmesan to the outside, and the meat was REALLY GOOD! Oh and of the two locations? The Reno one had a much nicer dining area read more

Place is terrible. Ordered a chicken enchilada plate. What i recieved was a rice enchilada. No chicken but a few pieces of cubed chicken you can tell came out of a can and the rice bately even cooked. Every bite of my "enchilada" is crunchy. Garbage ass place. Do not recommend. My mother's order is the same. read more

The food is great! But the service needs improvement for sure. Very outdated place but I'd be back lol

I normally don't like leaving bad reviews but this is a repeat offender so it's only fair to put out a warning. If you're looking for the infamous crispy parmesan shell tacos I'm afraid they no longer exist. Looking for the greasiest soggiest limpest tacos you could ever dream of? This is the place for you. Craving sad stale over priced "super nachos" with barely a smattering of toppings? You're in the right spot! If you enjoy receiving terrible / rude service while spending a small fortune on a greasy heart attack then you guessed it, Jimboys is for you. (I speak only of the 2nd St location as it's the only one I've tried) ***TLDR: Confused because I've heard this place can be good, but the only way it could possibly be good is if you're so drunk when you eat it you don't remember it the next day. read more

Excellent burritos and chicken tacos! They but Parmesan cheese in the chicken tacos! The cheese is sublime in all the products! Super fast going through the drive thru even during Hot August nights! read more

hello! first time here and it was mediocre. ordered three different tacos to try out. the steak taco, beef taco, and chicken taco. all of the meat had little or no flavor which was sad. I've noticed there were barely any protein within these tacos and more lettuce. the taco shells were okay, but extremely greasy and had to use about 15 napkins. I do not recommend this taco spot as the quality and flavor was disappointing as well as the food was greasy. the three tacos costs about $11 bucks. read more

Hits the spot, every time. The joke used to be they were only good at 2AM. Times have changed. They are good anytime. The filled churros are also some of the best in Reno! Favorites here are a tostada with asada or chicken. Burritos are HUGE, tasty and filling. Tacos are good as well, get the ground beef for the ultimate juicy experience. The food was really good everything tasted fresh and the ingredients seem like they were really good. I would definitely recommend the burrito and the fish tacos. The ground beef tacos were OK but I think I'm just not a huge fan of ground beef, but it was still one of the best ground beef tacos I've ever had, this service is super friendly and I felt like they did a great job recommending certain dishes. The overall restaurant has a really cute vibe and was also really clean. I'm honestly surprised that this place has low ratings because I thought it was pretty good. The only thing I can think is that the Mexican food is somewhat Americanized but I think the name pretty much tells you that. Overall, I would recommend this place. And will probably go back. read more

We haven't gone in here as often prior to their dramatic price increase. I'm all good for needed adjustment due to inflation but I was extremely shocked by how much the price has increased. You'd think that ordering a 6-pack tacos will save you some moolah but it is the same price as... you know... just ordering six tacos LOL! Maybe just saying "6-pack" sounds just a tad special HAHAHAHA!!! We never had a bad meal from this location though and this is pretty much the only location we visit after trying out two other locations in Reno. The customer service is nothing to rave about but I always appreciate a pleasant attitude at the drive-thru. We haven't been inside the restaurant for yeeeears so I can't speak on their dining area cleanliness. read more

Only giving 2stars because deep down inside I love Jimboy's! What I've noticed is the wells location has been less quality food than the s. Virginia Jimboy's. More than one occasion @ wells location the tacos were limp w/almost raw tortillas. Tonight AGAIN- raw tortilla tacos- now a new disappointment TAQUITOS- minimal meat & sloppily rolled. I know this is fast food but for almost $3 a taco I'll stick with the taco truck that's even closer to my house- same price but waaaaay better quality from a truck! It's That---- or I'll just avoid the wells location- the quality isn't worth the convenience... signed- disappointed taco lover read more

I've honestly never had a bad experience here at this location. I've been coming here for years probably since I was 8-9 and I've always had great experiences. This time was no different came right before they closed on Saturday, I'm talking like 10 minutes and I felt really bad and I told them I would go somewhere else but they were so kind they served me anyway. Even hooked it up with some extra tacos and sauce! Thank you again! read more

They used to be better! They were not hard shell got to soft just in drive home! And everything was so salty!!

Not a lot of people know this but Jimboys is the only fast food place in town you can get a fresh grilled burger at 2am, and it is effing excellent. No, seriously, trust me. We had went thru the drive thru I had asked for a combo plate and a taco plate and 4 tacos. When we had got to the window he has missing two of my items. I had told him he did not put the 4 tacos on my order he was also missing the combo plate. He rung up what was missing and I still did not get my combo plate. After repeatedly telling him he was still missing one of our items he sat there and argued with me. The combo plate was missing items from it, and it was absolutely disgusting. Will never go here again. Terrible customer service. read more

I'm from the SF Bay Area so we don't have Jimboy's tacos near us. Was really looking forward to trying it out. Maybe I hyped myself up too much but the food was alright. Felt like it was pretty overpriced. While they are relatively sizable tacos, four tacos easily surpasses the 20 dollars. The food was also pretty greasy. Might be good drunk food but eating it sober isn't the same. For this trip I got the shredded pork and cheeseburger taco. The shredded pork was alright but nothing special. The cheeseburger ended up being the better one. Nice and filling but really sauced up and kinda greasy overall. The patty was the right thickness and juicy-ness. What I did like between the two tacos was the taco shell. Tastes like they crust the taco shell with Parmesan or something. Overall kinda good food that got let down by the price. Would maybe go again but like after a night out at the bars haha read more

Ugh, what happened?!? Jimboy's Tacos were the best around for years! When out-of-town friends are back in town, we always have to go to Jimboy's for some delicious chicken tacos. Shredded chicken, melted cheese, and shredded lettuce in a crispy, Parmesan dusted shell. Uncomplicated perfection. What. Happened. The shell is as wonderful as ever. And the lettuce is, well, lettuce. But now the "chicken" is cubed and slimy and disgusting. Are you taking this out of a can and then storing it under your armpit?!? I can't overstate how awful it was and how disappointed we were. Please go back to your chicken tacos of yesteryear. I'm sad thinking my years of late night Jimboy's visits are now a thing of the past but I can not and will not eat whatever it is your pawning off as chicken. read more

Haven't been to this Jimboy's in a couple of decades. We arrived at 12:30 on a Wednesday and the doors were constantly opening and closing with customers. Our lunch arrived in six mins but sadly, the cheese quesadilla was not fully melted. The tacos, aside from being overstuffed with lettuce, were as great as they were all those years ago. We got four Shredded Beef Tacos and a Cheese Quesadilla, plus a large drink for $16.17. They serve big tacos at Jimboy's so it was plenty of food for the two of us. It says open to 4 am. Dunno if this recently changed but i work late and last few times i tried at 3 am was closed. Anyways... I have a couple favs i always get a number 10! 2 beef tacos (i perfer no lettuce wasier to heat up and eat later) and a med coke. I usually ask for q side of Spanish rice which comes in a decent size cup with a red sause on top and melted American cheese.... If its a night i happen not to get my fav #10 then i opt for a Beef Super Burrito...(and a side of rice)... its quite heavy and u have to hold it with 2 hands... with Beans and your choice of meat, Cheese, lettuce tomato black olives... sour cream and guacamole. Decent price and worth it for me cause not much is open at 2 am that isnt a casino.
