I contacted Valley Auto about an add for a 2002 Saturn SC2 on a Wednesday. I was informed by the…read moreowner William Myers, that there was a problem with the Saturn sunroof and he wasn't sure that he would sell it to me or sell it auction, because it might damage his "reputation". I told him what the issue was normal for Saturns. He stated that he would send the car to his mechanic for an inspection and let me know if he would sell me the car. At first I was shocked that he seemed concerned about his "reputation" for selling a possibly bad car to a customer and would rather sell the car on auction. I made it clear that I knew a thing or two about Saturns and there mechanical issues. I did a follow up with him on Thursday and Friday. He contacted me on Friday afternoon and quoted me a very fair price for the car. Unfortunately I live over two hours away and could not make it to his dealership on Friday before they closed. I made it very clear that I was interested and I verified with him that I would be in Saturday. I gave him my phone number to make sure there would be no issues before I drove over two hours to his dealership. His dealership was open less than three hours when I pull into the dealership as a couple were looking at the car. He seemed to have no issues selling them a "potentially bad car" to the couple. Instead of talking to me face to face, William brings the couple in and has them explain that they are buying the car. I found this to be offensive and poor customer service. If he was truly worried about his "reputation" and customer service he would have given me a call before showing off the vehicle since he knew I was driving over two hours to get to the dealership, or had them put onto a list in case the deal that we agreed to fell through. At worst they would have been inconvenienced by maybe 20 minutes, unlike my wife and I who wasted over four hours driving and four days getting jerked around by him. We also changed our planes for the weekend to pick up the car. I am sure the customers would have been understanding if he told them that he had another customer on his way from over two hours away to see that specific car. William didn't even bother to apologize for jerking me around for four days and wasting my time in the two hour one way drive. He did ask my wife if we wanted to look at his other cars, she explained that I am a Saturn person. His response was something along to lines of "Oh your a Saturn person". Yes I have bad taste in cars. I have wanted this particular model of car since I was a Sgt in the Marines. Back then I couldn't afford one. I am retired and wanted to buy my dream car. I don't know if the guy just did not want to sell me the car because I am a veteran, or he just jerks people around.
