little gelato stand right in the heart of the famed "la rambla." gelato stands were everywhere, but we picked this one for their low prices and variety of gelato flavours. i lost count, but i'd say they had at least 30-40 flavours, in a array of beautiful colours!
i ordered a single scoop on a skinny waffle cone for €1.50, and hubby ordered the double scoop in a double cone (i.e. a cone with 2 slots, one for each scoop) for €2.20. i was happy with my average sized single scoop, since i didn't want too much gelato. the lemon meringue cream flavour was really good, not a flavour that i'd easily find in the states, and the texture was perfect! i tried some of hubby's "moro" gelato, spanish for blackberry and it was a delight! the berry taste was very prominent without being overly sweet!
we enjoyed this gelato stand so much that we came back again on our last day in barcelona. definitely a popular spot, so be prepared to wait a few minutes in line while all the other gelato-craving customers decide on which flavours they want to lick their lips on!
my only note is the customer service, b/c sometimes they are so eager to serve the next customer, they don't necessarily wait for you to take your money out of your change purse, count it (since many tourists need to look at the coins and count them before paying), and put it on the counter. so while i was waiting for the lady to take my money and give me change, my gelato melted a bit on my hands. read more
