Our car had a compressor done last year 2024by another Repair shop in Gurnee that did a terrible job. The compressor went or less say I had no Air in my car my hubby took the car to this location. We do of our oil changes/ filter changes for years. Any way they fix the problem with my Compressor and the heat exchange. Horrible, horrible, horrible. Been coming here or 20 years. Last oil change they spilled oil all down the front of my engine to where the serpentine belt was squealing. Argued with me that it was fine and would quit squealing soon. When I insisted, they tried to clean the mess with windshield washer fluid. Incompetence made worse by not caring at all. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! It's my fault. Totally my fault. Instead of taking the time to go to Woodman's for my basic oil change, but I fell for convenience. I paid $20 more to save a 15 mile drive. For that extra $20 I should have gotten, at the very least, my windows cleaned, my vehicle vacuumed and my tire pressure checked and air added if needed. Not one of those things were done. When I called about the tires because the paperwork said I declined them being checked when I specifically asked for them to be checked, I was told that was a misprint. I guess the bird poop on my windows was also a misprint. The dirt on my floor mats too. Save your money, you'll need it for gas anyways! read more

They did oil change on my car and the and changed spark plugs they had to take the front cover off in order to get to the spark plugs and never reinstalled it back 2 weeks later notice my car was making some noise and the cap or cover was grinding on my belt leaving my cap damaged. If you cannot put back what you take off then probably you shouldn't be working at a mechanic spot your putting someone's life in danger. So everyone check your car after leaving this spot. read more

I had multiple issues with this location. I took my car in for an oil change last week. I was charged $100 instead of $10 for the "special" filter. I paid $160 for a full synthetic oil change and left the store. After running more errands I found an old receipt from the same location and saw the last time I took my car there, I was charged only $10 for the filter. My check engine light also came on when I drove off right after the oil change. It was not on previous to the oil change. After realizing they overcharged me $90, I drove back to the location so they could refund me my money as well as get my check engine light off. The cashier said it was just a "computer glitch" for the $90 over-charge. As my car was sitting in the parking lot, my car completely magically died out of nowhere. Now all of a sudden they said my battery died and it just so happened right in their parking lot! How convenient. So then I was forced to pay $200 for a new battery if I wanted to be able to drive my car. They said my check engine light came on because the battery was bad. Funny how the check engine light didn't come on until right after they did the oil change. Fast forward a week, today was the first time I had driven my car since I got the oil change. (I don't drive often because I work from home.) To my surprise, there was a giant pool of oil underneath my car. I took it to a different Jiffy Lube location right away and the mechanic fixed the issue and said the Gurnee location did not even put the oil drain plug gasket back on so there was a gap and oil was able to leak out. This gasket is critical! I could have had major damage to my engine. This seemed like a such an absent minded and lazy mistake. I will not be going back to Jiffy Lube, especially this location, after this experience. The guys here do not seem trustworthy. read more

Called in a Saturday afternoon after my last visit to Grease Monkey in Waukegan. "More than an hour wait" the man said. Decided based on advice from employee, price and schedule that Sunday morning 9am was the target. First car in line, 3 employees to open the shop. None of which really wanted to be working Sunday. Haha. But, really, who would, am I right people? Great news. Polished and ready for customers. I figured it was new. Damen, my oil tech, thought maybe it was a 10 year old, but it doesn't look like it. Or smell like it. Clean. Really clean. Bathrooms too. Freshly painted in the last couple years and how about this bonus.... No smell of rotting coffee or old popcorn. For now, this is my new place for my small fleet of newer and high mileage cars since I don't see a car-lift in my near future to do it myself. Oh, and by the time I left, 6 customers in line and they greeted (in the parking lot) then escorted and opened the lobby door for every customer. Nice touch. As a resident in and around Gurnee for about 50 years, I've been to this Jiffy lube location dozens of time through the years. To be honest, for a long time I dreaded going to this location due to quality and service, and considered it a last resort if I procrastinated and failed to make an appointment either at D. Wells or other mechanics I've come to trust. That changed a few years ago when I took my daughter's car to this location when she surprised me with plans for a long road trip. In a last minute attempt, I quickly dropped by to make sure her car was long trip road worthy. Yes, they are typically busy. Yes, you may need to wait a bit... but I was shocked how the general manager of this location (I believe his name is Marc) runs the show. It's clear that communication (to customers and his team) is his strength, and please don't be put off by his initial gruff demeanor. It's actually very refreshing in it's own way on how he holds everyone around him accountable to his own service and quality standards. He may literally be the hardest working person I've come across. With over a half century experience of getting way too many cars serviced, I've been to a multitude of high end luxury brand service centers where they claim to provide top notch service with comfy chairs/work stations, mimosa bars, Wi-fi centers and Hi-Def TV's. To be clear, you will not get that here! What you will get is a team that works hard, gets the job done so you can be in and out as quickly as possible, communicates well, provides reasonable prices, and takes pride in themselves and their work. I now have 3 adult-ish daughters (each with their own car) that I constantly worry about them keeping up with their maintenance and being safe on the road. With 5 cars in total, thanks to the awesome service from Marc, Lamar and others on the team at this location, my family now knows this is the place we feel most comfortable taking our vehicles for piece of mind. Not because it's Jiffy Lube, or because it's convenient. Fast, honest, professional, and friendly service! I came in early Thursday morning and there was one customer before me. I took in a fleet vehicle and asked to follow the prescribed checklist for 12,000 mile maintenance. After doing all the prechecks, he tells me all the fluids filled, air pressure, etc...and he mentions putting in full synthetic as per the fleet vehicle checklist. I give him the green light to do so but I ask about the cabin filter that was also on the list. He said they checked and it doesn't need replacement and would most likely change it around 30,000 miles. In my experience, with oil change places, they up sell everything and his honesty was impressive. In and out in 20 minutes ngo-to spot for oil change ***update*** Last time I was here I took in a fleet vehicle and services paid for by my company. This time I take in my personal vehicle and quickly realized what a rip off this place is. $124 for an oil change!!! The dealer does it for half the cost and the courtesy fill up all fluids (appointment needed or you'll be at the dealer for awhile). I also was trying to use a Synchrony Bank Car Care card to pay as the Synchrony Bank websites and app stated this location accepts. The manager says they don't accept. Five Stars if: -you are taking in a fleet vehicle -you are swimming in money and don't care about price -emergency Three Stars if you are going to pay yourself. $124 for an oil change is just crazy but customer service was still top notch though. I took my car here today for a basic oil change, I was hesitant because I had bad service at other jiffy lubes & Grease monkey locations. Didn't want to go to the dealership today and spend 3 + hours for an oil change When I pulled up an employee greeted me at the car he said he was in training, very nice. I stated that I hate pulling my car into these bays he said don't worry we do that! My husband and I were impressed! We were the only ones there at first then other cars started pulling in. Service was fast, they didn;t try to upsell anything to me, showed me the cabin filter & air filter I knew that they needed changing but I opted not to do it today. I was shocked to see that they vaccumed and washed the windows! When checking out the manager was training the "newbie" on the register I told them I had a coupon he asked if it was the $8 or $10 one I said I didn't see the $10 on the site the manager gave us the $10 one! I hope that this crew I had today stays there, I know the turn over is high at these type of places. Just be honest and customers will be back! Waited for over 45 mins for a basic oil change. They didn't have my oil filter in stock and had to go to auto zone to get one. Could have told me prior to changing my oil or more importantly, have it in stock before you run out of it. The whole idea of going to Jiffy Lube is for a quick service. I initially was surprised to note that, after all the years Jiffy Lube ("JL") has been in Gurnee, no one had written a review of its service. Go figure! Then again, it probably is the case because people in the community probably consider JL an ever-present fixture, a reliable lubestitution ... or prospective reviewers decided to avoid the hazards associated with joking about lube and fluids. (There is no glamor in it.) After considering that I have depended on this JL for oil changes, etc. for as long as I can remember, I cannot recall a single occasion when I had cause for complaint. Not one! Considering that we humans can cause some pretty spectacular screw ups, JL has one hell of a track record. (Hm. Next time I go, maybe I should hug my JL Tech ... or better yet, tell him that I planned to hug him, but will not hug him, so he will be grateful for my not hugging him... Wait...) Whenever I note that the mileage figure on my JL window decal is close to matching the mileage on my odometer, I just roll whatever I may be driving up to JL's doors, tell my grinning JL Tech what type of service I seek with what type of oil I want (Synthetic for my faithful four wheeled lady, thanks!), hand over her keys, retire to JL's waiting room, help myself to a hot cuppa, and park my tuchus to browse a mag until I am called upon to pay my bill and am directed to my waiting car; in and out in 25 minutes maximum, and I am good to go until the next time when our numbers nearly match. I'll never going to have any oil change at this or any Jiffy Lube. I had a terrible experience because I did my last oil change at this store. Yesterday I went to a Walmart to do it because of the price but they couldn't get the drain plug out because the last time at Jiffy Lube they broke the screw thread. So the drain plug can't be removed to do the job. I came to the store and talk to a guy explained the situation and he told me that there's no problem with the drain plug. So I went again to Walmart to do the oil change but again they were unable to do the work. They showed me a took video of the problem. I came again to this Jiffy Lubr and explained to the store manager Andrew and he denied they broke it. The district manager was present too and he was the first person we talked too but he never identified as the district manager when we talked first. We explained everything again and they told me that it's not their responsibility. Denied fixing the problem and even the District Manager Jason told me that even if I call corporate that going to go through him and he's going to hide it from the regional manager because everything goes through him. That's a huge disappointment and this guy was very rude. Never going back to Jiffy Lube and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

I stopped in on December 21 around 5pm for an oil change. I thought that everything would be done, but I truly am not sure it was. First no one came to talk to me about the air filter or the what oil like they usually do. I was just told that it was done. Next, I get into the vehicle to find that the tire light is still on. That makes me believe that the pressure was not check, nor was air added to the tires. I do not believe that anything was checked as of today. Will have my mechanic check everything out today when he fills the tires today. I have been a long time customer and plan to not go back ever again. This place is so great. I love my Jiffy Lube in Chicago too - but I feel the service in Gurnee needs to be highlighted. I was visiting my sister-in-law at her salon in Grayslake when my car started making an uncharacteristic and unsavory sound it had never made before. I yelped and found this location. Staff was helpful and courteous. I know just enough about cars to know when something above my maintenance skillset has happened. I knew that my front end sounding like popcorn popping was probably not in the service they provided but - they took a look anyway. Cézar and his staff at the Gurnee location went above and beyond usual points of service to make sure that I got home to Chicago in one piece. I was very grateful for their advice. I had tried the night before at another location and they wouldn't take me due to having showed up 1 minute after the time I had informed them on the phone. Jiffy Lube is great. Their oil changes include a filter change, and they will also top off all of your fluids with the check up (with the exception of antifreeze, that's an additional $4). You can opt for regular oil, a synthetic blend, or full synthetic oils for increasing price points and life spans. If you get your oil changed there, they will allow you to stop by again for free air, washer fluid, or other fluids, in between changes. You can often find $8-$10 off coupons online pretty easily, and they gladly accept them. They'll also rotate your tires for $25. With my coupon, I got my B1 service on my Acura (oil and filter change, fluid top offs, and tire rotation) for $69. It would have been $240 at the dealer. If there's something wrong with your car, they will bring it to your attention and solicit you to fix it. That's their job, and I don't mind about that. Deal me in. They're friendly, fast, and there's free coffee in the clean waiting area. What's not to like? read more

I come here most of the time for a quick oil change. The staff is always friendly and since I don't come in on the weekend, I'm in and out in a very reasonable time. I like that I can watch the whole service and it's not because I don't trust the staff - it's only because I can get an idea of how much longer I'll be there. It also shows me the care they take to do all of the other minor things that are above and beyond. I brought my girlfriends Civic in for an oil change, first time I've taken it in for maintenance. They told me it only took synthetic oil so I thought ok it is what it is. Come to find out later from my girlfriend that she's never had an oil change with synthetic oil. Alright good one Jiffy Lube you got me on that one. After I get home I read over the receipt and under the service checklist section they claim to have "completed" the complimentary vacuum and exterior window cleaning. I was in the car the entire time and neither of those were completed. So not only did I pay more for the oil change than I needed too but they didn't even actually do everything they claimed to have done. It makes me question what else might not have been done from that checklist. But now I've learned my lesson and I'll be going elsewhere in the future. read more
