I had a pretty bad experience at the 1640 Carl D Silver location but Andre, one of the employees,…read morewas extraordinarily helpful. Despite all the glitches I experienced, Andre made the experience tolerable. First, I had made a 9:00 appointment over a week in advance. After waiting an hour I was told that that the tires were still in transit from another location. I questioned why the tires were not ordered and delivered in advance based on my appointment. I was told that someone had sold them to another customer. Next, when checking out I asked for a copy of the rebate form. Andre told me the rebate hadnt come up on the computer screen and then questioned whether there was a rebate on the tires. I showed him the form I printed from their website. He then called someone who was finally able to print the rebate form for me. Total wait time was almost four hours. I expressed my frustrations and asked for an additional discount for my trouble. If Andre had not been so sympathetic and apologetic through the entire ordeal and gladly agreed to the additional discount I would have given this location a two for all the problems I experienced. And, of course, the tires were a good value for the cost.

I returned to this location on August 18, 2026, specifically to have the battery checked. I was told the battery was fine, even though they had to jump-start my vehicle while I was there. They suggested that my alternator may have been the problem. I then took the vehicle to a local repair shop, where both the battery and alternator were tested. The alternator tested fine, but the battery was determined to be bad and had to be replaced. I have contacted this company multiple times trying to resolve the issue, but they are refusing to refund me for the defective battery they sold me. My biggest concern is that I returned while the battery was still under warranty, reported the exact problem, and was told the battery was good. I relied on that diagnosis, only to later find out from another shop that the battery was in fact bad.

I went here on recommendation from my coworker to get my alternator replaced in June of last year…read more It wasn't cheap, but I appreciated that they were very kind about it and got it done somewhat timely (took an extra day than originally said but that's fine). Well, in late April, less than a year after getting this work done, my car starts having stalling problems. I took it into a different shop, and they determined that the alternator had completely gone bad and would need to be replaced AGAIN. I commute, but this was maybe 15,000-20,000 miles at most that was put on this alternator. After showing my mechanic my initial bill, he was floored at the price ($800-$900), saying it was double what was typical for that kind of work. I would NOT recommend taking your car here. I no longer live in the area so I can't try to get that alternator replaced again with them, but I also do not trust where the parts are sourced from. EDIT: In addition, when I took my car to a new shop to get the alternator replaced, the mechanic told me frankly: "You got scammed, the alternator [that came out of my car] looks incredibly old and it was never going to last very long."

After about a week of driving, we were going down 95 and heard a loud thud, then the power steering just died. We managed to limp home, but once we parked and checked it out, we saw the belt had come off and there was a major coolant leak. This was never was an issue before, especially since we've taken this car to two different shops in the last year. Including one where it passed VA state inspection. None of those shops complained about any cooling system issue. When we towed it back, they told us it needed a radiator and thermostat and pretty much wanted another $600 on top of the $1,600 we already spent. They wouldn't even cover the tow. They just put the belt back on and had us tow it to another shop to actually fix the leak. The car is still not drivable. We understand things happen and we are not idiots when it comes to vehicle care, but it is incredibly frustrating when a shop tries to avoid accountability. Honestly, just avoid this place like the plague. There are better shops who have trust worthy mechanics in the Stafford area.

This local Firestone had good reviews, so I made an appointment on the app for four services to be done the next morning. On my arrival, I identified myself and requested the four services. Two hours later, my car was ready and we continued on our six hour ride home. That afternoon we stopped in Baltimore for gas and that's when I noticed an annoying scratch on the rim closest to the fuel filler cap. This scratch appeared 3-4 weeks ago and I don't know how it happened, but it bugs me. But now seeing that scratch on the same wheel location as before I got the tire rotation means that Firestone failed to rotate that wheel. I was furious. I called the shop and spoke with Mark, the manager on duty. I explained the situation and how his mechanic didn't rotate my tires. But did he rotate or not rotate the other side?? Mark looked over my work order and saw how the original service advisor noted the tire rotation from my app request, but he didn't request the service to be performed. He acknowledge the failure, owned up to the failure and repeatedly apologized. He wanted me to come back so they could perform the work, but as mentioned earlier, I live six hours away. Also, FWIW, I have "lifetime" alignment, rotation and balancing, so there was no direct financial loss to me. Mark expertly defused my anger. Instead of BSing me, he owned up to the mistake and wanted to fix it. I understand that mistakes happen. I appreciate the way he handled my anger and for that reason, this Firestone gets five stars from me.
