Typically, I have a good experience at Express Auto Service. Today, I called before going for a state inspection to make certain that it was a good day to go and that they were not too booked up. The young man on the phone asked me when I'd come and I said in twenty minutes. He greeted me when I got there and took my keys. After an hour, I gave him my cell number and went for a walk. Others came and went for inspections, that arrived after me. I was there from 2:17 pm until 4:41 pm, when I left the lot. I wondered if he had given the mechanics my work order, for the wait to be 2.5 hours. He did not apologize when I paid for the service. It was invalidating. read more

My aunt whom is older went to this business for a state inspection, they failed her vehicle stating that her tie rod needed to be replaced. Replacement and labor was a quote of $800 bucks. Her son took her vehicle to a friend and they put it on a lift and guess what her tie rod was fine! I am her to say ladies these people will try to rip you off if you go in alone without a man with you. Her car sits mostly in the garage and sees NO interstate traveling these people were out of their minds and shame on them for trying to take advantage of a lady in her 70's!!! I went there for an oil change. They were quick, polite, and not pushy with their recommendations. The price was on the lower end of the range of other places. My only complaint was they didn't honor the online coupon for $17 off. They are a franchise, and the coupon originated from the corporate website. They may want to make sure offers aren't being made that they can't honor. That said, it wasn't a huge deal to me. I wasn't relying on the discount, and I was pleased with the service. Seems to take advantage of women or ones who don't seem like they are knowledgeable about vehicles. Failed my vehicle for my brakes not touching my rotors enough. Also told me that several vehicles that day failed for the same reason.... Coincidence? Quoted me about $430 to fix one front brake, two front rotors and labor. No appointment required for the Safety Inspection when I brought in my Tesla. Fast service and it was only $25! Tip: Don't forget your keycard/Fob and turn off PIN to Drive while it's being inspected. I put all my important things in the glove compartment and that requires a PIN to open. Best auto repair in town. I took a Chevy express van there a couple years ago for a new catalytic converter. The charge was $75 less than they quoted. Said they were able to get a cheaper converter. They didn't have to pass their savings along to me but they did. My son took his car there for a brake job. He paid and then they called him a couple hours later saying they were crediting his credit card for about $35 because of an error on their part. Every experience there has been great. Randomly a few months later they called to ask when I was bringing my car in for struts. The FIRST I had heard of this. There is one employee who is adamant I was told and quoted (FALSE). FURTHER to this I recently needed a back light changed. They wanted me to leave my vehicle overnight (!!!). Guess what? Jiffy Lube fixed it in 5 minutes and it cost $16. They have two waiting areas for customers and are practicing social distancing. I chose the one in the back since no one was there . If I could leave no stars I would. They quoted me $1,300 for a front and rear break change with rotors. Not only is that quote absurd and out of this universe...it wasn't accurate at all. Rode over to little tire 15 min later for them to tell me the brake pads still had over half the pad on them and the rotors were perfectly fine. my last visit was to have one flat tire changed. It turned into a $400 issue. The wheel happened to be bent somewhere and they suggested a new one. I agreed only to get one (overnighted) that was in cosmetically worse shape. A few days had gone by and my tire pressure light came on. The new tire and wheel were the suspect. I pumped it up and a few days later it happened again. This has been ongoing since. I've also checked to make sure I have not run over anything and haven't found any signs. I see that I am not alone in my complaint about Express Auto Services failing people for emissions inspections over unrelated issues, specifically rusty brakes/rotors. That is easily fixable, especially on my type of car in a way that absolutely doesn't involve charges of hundreds of dollars for replacing these parts. When I come for an annual emissions inspection I expect an emissions inspection ONLY. I've always heard of auto dealers and other auto-related services as making 'marks' of people, but have never knowingly experienced it until Express Auto Services. You've caused me a great deal of pain with your Rejection sticker on my window since, but I am repairing your damage to my reputation for that quickly. I will do everything I can to make your reputation suffer in this post for being the slick sheisters that you are. This place is a TOTAL RIP OFF. SCAMMERS. Brought my car in for a check engine light; they charged 200 for a diagnostic and $2,400 for 4 new spark plugs and coils. 5 months later, check engine light came in my car again, so I bought a diagnostic tool off amazon for 35 dollars, and changed my own spark plugs and coils for 250, and it only took 15 minutes. There is literally only 1 screw holding the coils and spark plugs in place and they are right on top of the engine. . It was so easy to replace, a child could do it. So they charged me $2,400 for a 15 minute job that cost $250 in parts. read more

I have always received good service from Express Auto. Sure you have to put up with the vehicle analysis and up sale on additional services. But here is the thing, and the up sale works two ways. 1) If you say no thanks then they leave it at that, there is no hard sell. 2) legitimate issues do get pointed out and you can prioritize your repairs. The prices are competitive for the area a few bucks either side of the others, that is sometimes higher sometimes lower. The service though is very good and they stand behind their work. General preventive maintenance is quick and easy, usually only a short wait. Lobby is clean, usually enough seats to go around. There is coffee and tea. The only negative is the TV. FOX news on all the time, just annoying noise (it is a small lobby). There are a lot of magazines and newspapers - but you can't read because of the TV. Probably ought to do away with one or the other. read more

Always go their for a second estimate as other places prices are slightly higher. They out of their way to make discounts available when its possible.
