I wasn't big on acupuncture because I've been to many different places and hadn't seen much results from my experience. However after seeing Joohee, my concerns have improved. After one treatment, the long pitch ringing in my ear night is gone! Now we're working on gut health and I can see it has also improved! My digestion is better. My body is overall feeling well balanced! I would definitely recommend this place to others. Joohee is very caring and knowledgeable.

I have rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and have taken the holistic approach to treating my disease. I decided to try acupuncture to see if it could assist with my inflammation and pain. I did my research and decided to try Lee Acupuncture based on all the positive reviews. There were even a few reviews coming from arthritis patients who had obtained good results. They're located in a small business plaza that borders Costa Mesa & Newport Beach. The big "Melton Int'l Tackle" sign is a good landmark. They are located all the way down the alley on the right. Free parking is available. The office itself is rather small with 3-4 patient rooms and a small waiting area that's comfortably furnished with 2 chairs, a sofa and some snacks & water. I was pleased to learn that my insurance covered the first 6 sessions (per year) at $40 co-pay per session. After that the rate goes up, but you can buy a package that offers lower rates. The very 1st session was interesting, as they hooked me up to a machine to determine how balanced my energy was flowing internally. It highlighted key areas of improvement. The belief is that the more balanced I am, the less inflammation I will have. Each session is about 1/2 an hour. I started going twice a week, and now I go once a week. I was assigned to Dr. Kim who thoroughly explained everything to me prior to starting, and continues to remain helpful and caring. He inserts the needles in various areas, primarily my hands, feet and head. Sometimes it hurts a little when the needles go in, and a couple times I've bled after the needles came out, but that's probably because it hit a vein. I lay on the table for 1/2 hour and feel very relaxed afterwards. In addition to the acupuncture, I take herbs that I purchase from them for $90 for 1 weeks worth. They said it's very important to keep taking the herbs as it assists with the healing process. I had also read about this online. I take the herbs 2x a day (AM & PM) with food. I mix the herbs with a little water and drink it like a tea. After approximately two months of acupuncture and drinking herbs, I can positively say that my inflammation has gone down significantly. I took a photo of my inflammation on my hands & feet prior to starting, and there has been a big improvement! I will definitely continue seeing Dr. Kim, and I'm so happy I discovered Lee Acupuncture.

He is also very good at explaining things and answering questions. I initially went in for help with insomnia. I had tried all OTC sleep aids which had worked for years and then they started having the opposite effect. I tried all the latest prescription sleep aids but they didn't work well and left me drowsy all day. Dr. Rey's treatment has given me an extra 60-90 minutes of sleep at night, but even more importantly, I get a lot more deep sleep and REM sleep which really makes a difference. I am so thankful - I actually look forward to going to sleep now knowing that I will be rested when I get up. He has also helped me with my almost daily headaches and neck pain. He has helped me deal with withdrawal symptoms from stopping HRT treatment. He's been able to help me with foot pain which is very important to me since I'm a big walker! And he is currently helping me with lowering my blood pressure. Yes - Irvine Acupuncture is wonderful! I recommend it highly. Nick (front desk) is also a great help with scheduling, insurance claims, and answering questions. ~ Sally L

I was going through my older reviews and realized that I had to make a much needed update to my…read moreElements of Wellness review. More specifically, it turns out that not only is Dr. Angela Caraza my favorite chiropractor I've been to, but also one of my favorite acupuncturists. I've been seeing Dr. Caraza for over a year now. I initially went to her because I had neck and back pain and was looking for a good chiropractor, and I liked that in addition to just adjusting me, she offered additional modalities like electric stimulation, red light therapy, and even using a massage gun. It turns out she does acupuncture and offers similar additional modalities for that as well. I have been a firm believer in acupuncture for pain management for almost a decade now, it can at least relieve my chronic pain for at least a day. When doing acupuncture, Dr. Caraza is the type to work on one side of the body at a time, either face up or face down for at least 45 minutes. While you can get only acupuncture, and she will poke at the spots based on your current complaints of the day as well as based on any recent imaging, x-rays, or MRIs of that day. I personally like to get the extra 15 minutes of additional modalities. More specifically, she offers cupping and electro-acupuncture in addition to regular acupuncture. As someone with a lot of muscle, nerve, and fascia tightness and pain all throughout my body--mostly in my neck, back, and most recently shoulders--I like that Dr. Caraza, no matter which side I go to for that day for acupuncture, will generally cover as much of my pain as possible through a mix of using slide cupping and adding around 10 to 15 cups around my whole back, which helps to relieve a lot of tightness before putting the acupuncture as well as the stimulation on the acupuncture to further relieve muscle tension. But more importantly than the combination of both great chiropractor and acupuncture work, Dr. Caraza is just one of the few therapists I've been to who is very nice, helpful, and willing to listen and willing to change treatment based on the day and how you are feeling. She has basically heard the sadly annoying journey I've been going through, both in terms of increasing pain in my neck, back, and shoulders, but also some of the issues I've had with getting imaging and insurance in general, which I'll talk more about later. But the bottom line is she is one of the few therapists I've been to who will listen to my whole story almost every time I go into the office, and she'll still treat me to the best of her ability. And in general, she is very pleasant and fun to talk to. I also have to give praise to her front desk admin, Victoria, who was easily one of the nicest front desk workers I've interacted with. I get greeted every time I come to the office or if I have to make changes to my scheduling and even making payments. She is also just as friendly as Dr. Caraza and makes sure things go smoothly, both in terms of making sure I have appointments scheduled out as much as possible and letting Dr. Caraza know of anything she needs to know before I come into the office on a certain day. I think it says something when the closest I have to complaints about this place are insurance and scheduling related, both of which have nothing to do with the treatment or the personalities of the workers. Through Elements of Wellness, it turns out with my insurance Cigna PPO that if I decide to get cupping with my acupuncture or electric stimulation with my chiropractor, my insurance for some reason counts that toward my covered physical therapy appointments per year. Dr. Caraza and I only found this out in late 2024, when I was basically out of PT that year. Thankfully Dr. Caraza was able to be transparent and charge me a fair rate of around $30 if I want to add on cupping or electric stimulation since, thankfully, my insurance has unlimited covered acupuncture appointments once I meet the deductible for the year. If this were any other acupuncture place, there would have been a chance that the front office would have done some sneaky way to overcharge me without me noticing. But thankfully, I get to choose if I want to pay extra for more and more modalities or not. As for scheduling, this is just more of a personal issue I guess I have since I unfortunately have a very busy 40-hour computer job, and Dr. Caraza seems to be getting more popular and harder to schedule at a time convenient for me. But once again, this is not an issue with this office specifically; this shows that people really like her services. If you live near Costa Mesa and you're looking for a good chiropractor and/or acupuncturist who is very nice, friendly, professional, and will tailor your needs based on each time you come into the office and will be very transparent with how she bills you and the insurance, I can't recommend this place enough.
