We decided to try this place out because to have a upscale restaurant serving good authentic Chinese food is a rare gem in GA. This brand new establishment is spacious, clean, and feels very comfortable. Next the service was great, everyone was efficient and fast but mainly checks in on you every 5 mins and is very attentive to customer needs without the need to vocalize your needs. Next is the food, I know lots of folks complain about price point, it is not $10 a dish, and in this economy you can only get that price at takeout from supermarket next door. So set your expectation that this is a higher price point but also you get experience that is worthwhile. Once you get seated, they take your drink order and give you an iPad as menu browser, you place order on the iPad then the server will come confirm your order. It is nice because you can easily order more food and see full details of the food you are ordering. Since jiang Nan is a chain, I looked up the most recommended dishes in their NY location which was peking duck, salted egg yolk shrimp, and braised pork belly with tea leaves. After further reviewing the menu we got a few other things, eggplant, string beans, xiaolong bao, sweet and sour pork tenderloin ( recommended as most ordered in Atlanta). My fav was peking duck, very authentic in the sense skin needs to be crispy but served with a bowl fo sugar, you have to be able to dip the skin in the sugar to truly enjoy the crispy and fattiness of the duck skin. It's a delicacy with a very short life span because the duck has to be hot enough to not taste greasy. Pancakes were thin, but thoughtfulness of putting a piece of parchment between each pancake so it's easy and sanitary to get each pancake with either tearing them apart by accident. Salted egg yolk shrimp was well seasoned and fried perfectly. Crab tofu was also amazing well balanced of crab and tofu, originally ordered for my kids but ended up being a hit with the adults. Few logistic tips I learned from manager which was super helpful, they take reservation for parties over 5 people, they have a large round table that can fit 12-16 people and a few round table for 8-10 people, mentally I'm already planning next big family gathering. So disappointed that many of their items are not made fresh. I confirmed with multiple staff, what I could tell with my taste buds, that the wontons, dumplings and spring rolls are frozen. The chicken spring rolls tasted like veggie. I had to confirm that they did not bring us the wrong order. The chicken are few pieces of finely minced. The entrees were very bland, even the seafood fried rice. The hot tea and service were 5 star. The decor is mostly fake floral decorations scattered everywhere. I found it distasteful, like the food. Finally it is opened! We are so eager for high quality Chinese food. After two visits, tried more different dishes. Overall food quality is stable and good. All the dishes are just taste about right (not too salty not too sweet), you won't feel thirsty after meal. Price is on a little high end, but with the quality and environment is okay. Servers are attentive. They are willing to ask and listen to comments. Peking duck is good. For 3 people, each could make 4-5wraps. Mixed Preseved Pork & Bamboo Shoot Soup tastes very good. Only one thing the preserved pork is way too fat, it's like you are eating a chuck of fat. We tried both Tiger Shrimp In Sweet Chilli Sauce (Mild Spicy) and Deep-Fried Jumbo Prawn W. Salty Egg Yolk. Personally we like the sweet and chili shrimps better. The battered fried shrimps coated with sweet and chili sauce, the sweetness and mild spicy leveled up your appetites. Salty egg yolk shrimps and fried dough coated with a lot of salty egg yolks, it's tasty but it became soft and greasy not long after it came out. Baby Cabbage In Chicken Broth and Stir-Fried String Bean W. Minced Pork are good. We tired both crab meat soup dumplings and regular pork dumplings, both are little disappointing. Skins are too thick. For the Steamed Lotus Roots Stuffed W. Sticky Rice, even with the sweet osmanthus it tastes bland. Food was ok not as I expected that delicious, Service need more attention to customers , Peking duck side dishes like cucumbers, green onion, pineapple not as fresh need more improvement. Came to try this place a couple days ago. The restaurant is very fancy and well located. The menu is on a tablet so it was easily accessible. We ordered a number of dishes. I would say the food is more pricey for the amount they provide. A couple of the dishes were very salty and I had to eat one bite of the dish with multiple bites of rice. I loved the string beans dish and pickled cabbage side dish, which were my favorites. At the end of our meal, the server came to package our leftovers and was pretty rude. He essentially tossed our food into the to-go boxes without saying anything, even when we verbally offered to package the leftovers ourselves. Overall, this was a 3/5 experience. read more

Okay.. let me be so honest.. the place is very nice and the decor is cute. The people and workers are soooo sweet. But the food? SO MEDIOCRE FOR THE PRICE. I've had such good Chinese food in my life I wouldn't ever come here again. We got the pineapple beer which was presented beautifully but it was so weak and you can easily make it at home. We got the garlic and scallion lobster which was very mid and not flavorful. The best thing we got was the braised beef which just tastes like Vietnamese beef stew. The duck wasn't crispy and you can get better at the Asian supermarkets! The soup dumplings weren't the best either and two of them came ripped already so no soup inside!! The salt and pepper tofu was crispy but it wasn't anything special. Please save your money unless you're just in it for the experience and don't care about the food. Dined at Jian Nan tonight, and this place was just amazing. Food here has layers of flavors, right levels of salt, acid, heat, and sugar. You can taste different umami in every dish we ordered - Peking Duck (half), Chicken and Fish Mao soup, steamed egg custard with truffle, spicy wontons, eggplant, mapo tofu with pork, salted egg crusted prawn, cumin lamb, stir fried udon noodles. All the dishes were seasoned perfectly - I grew up in Japan and find these dishes perfect (some local Chinese food establishments are just too salty and oily). The staff are very cordial and swift. Super efficient. Love love the high-tech menu and communication system they use. Decor is sophisticated, and it feels great to dine in such calming and refined surrounding ambiance. The ambience was nice, and the food was decent, but I was very disappointed that no one explained how the ordering process worked--especially since it was our first time there. It was frustrating and overwhelming. Our wait staff was inattentive. They never cleared our plates or cleaned the table, leaving it cluttered and dirty. When they brought out my husband's cake, the table was still full of dishes, and the moment felt far from special. We were also supposed to be seated in their VIP area, which made the experience even more disappointing. Not to mention, when I addressed it with the waiter, I was met with nothing but excuses. And when I brought it to the manager's attention, he didn't seem to offer any real solution. I didn't feel heard as a customer, and there was no offer of any kind of accommodation. It honestly felt like my complaint fell on deaf ears. If you're expecting excellent customer service, think again. Food presentation was an A+. I liked making menu choices from my table. Service was great and the staff was very attentive and professional. My first disappointment was that they didn't serve alcohol. However, the peach ice tea was awesome! The waiter told us we could bring in alcohol from outside if we wanted to. The appetizers we ordered were steamed pork & crab meat soup dumplings and chicken spring rolls. They were both good, however they didn't taste freshly made. For entrees, I ordered the cumin lamb on sizzling plate and my husband ordered kung pao chicken with peanuts and seafood fried rice. The lamb was bland. I ordered spicy and that helped a bit. The kung pao chicken was just ok, with barely no chicken... I've had better. The fried rice didn't taste freshly made either. The bill was $100.39 plus a 22% tip ($22.09). Honestly, my expectations from the IG review was very high (given Michelin recommended). But my greatest disappointment stemmed from the lack of taste for me. read more

We found this restaurant through Gourmetangiie, assuming we'd have the same exceptional experience we saw in the reviews. Unfortunately, our visit was far from what was portrayed on social media. To the restaurant ownership/management: don't bother trying to redeem yourself after receiving a bad review. If you claim to be a 5-star Michelin restaurant, then every guest should have that same experience upfront--not after being disappointed. No one wants to come back to "make things right" after the damage is done; it's hard to enjoy the food under such circumstances. As for the food: Peking Duck: Completely overrated. The duck wasn't sliced in front of us as expected, the skin wasn't crispy, and the flavor was unimpressive. Pork Belly: Sliced so thin it was practically paper, and the dish was drowned in way too much garlic. Beef: Also sliced too thin, resembling Korean BBQ beef rather than a Cantonese-style dish. Eggplant: Felt like it was sautéed in General Tso's chicken sauce--not authentic at all. Shrimp: The only dish that was decent, but still not worth the price. Overall, the cost versus portion size doesn't match up, and the quality of the food isn't worth it. If you're looking for an authentic Cantonese dining experience, this isn't the place. There are far better spots in Duluth with more authentic flavors and much better pricing. This restaurant is overrated and seems to be appreciated by people who prioritize presentation over flavor or travelers who don't know better. I love spicy pork wontons, or spicy wonton in chili oil. I was really looking forward to trying these at Jiang Nan. I was very disappointed to find both orders absolutely smothered in finely chopped peanuts. Nothing in the picture of the order indicated that this would be so, and I have never seen them served this way. I would absolutely not recommend these unless one just loves chopped peanuts - they overwhelm the flavors of anything and everything else about the dish. read more
