Beef brisket egg rolls- a good way to start off your meal. Didn't have much of a unique flavor, tasted similar to a regular pork eggroll. Beef skewers sitting on kimchi- the meat tasted weird. It had a pungent smell to it. Mongolian beef- very thin slices beef. It tasted like beef that is served at a mall food court. Orange chicken-this had good flavor. Standard orange chicken, can't go wrong in ordering this. Noir roll- the beef on top of the roll had a weird texture too it. At this point we were realizing that the meat here isn't so great. Mi xao don- there was not enough of the vegetable sauce mixture on top of the fried noodles to break it down. It was very difficult to eat. Would I come back here to eat? Probably not. Not really sure how to feel about this place. Food looks good, but taste was just meh. We tried to order several items and they were all out. So my boyfriend and I decided on the ribeye, scallops, rolls, and sashimi. The ribeye was cooked medium rare the way we like it. However, it was so bland. Didn't taste like they even salted it. The wait staff and service along with the food are excellent after you get past the frumpy hostess with an attitude. She would be better off cleaning toilets or removing ash trays from slot machines and not having to interact with customers. Ignorance at it's finest. We showed up about 15min before our reservation and were able to walk right in and get our table early. Our server was super attentive and even offered to take a picture of my mom and I instead of us failing at a selfie. We split the Pu Pu platter as an appetizer. Everything that comes on it is fabulous, but the crab rangoon were my favorite! We probably could have just had that plus another appetizer and been full, but we really wanted to try more stuff. Sushi was good- not the best that I've had, but it definitely met the need for fresh sushi (I had the bubble gum roll). My mother got the braised short ribs. They didn't have tons of Asian flavor, and reminded me more of pot roast than anything. The fried rice that came with them, however, was phenomenal. We split the Chinese donuts for dessert. Our waiter compared them to beignets, but it was nothing more than a donut hole. They were good, but I was expecting maybe a little more extravagance for the price. This place was amazing! The ambiance is so nice. We were seated at the hibachi table and got to watch the chef in action. He put on a great show for us. The whole restaurant staff is friendly, accommodating, and attentive. There are times though when the staff can get busy and may become a little curt, but they always maintain composure and professionalism nonetheless. Prepare to be greeted by some of the staff outside of the restaurant in the casino area. Yes, they are that cheerful! I can enumerate a number of personal favorites in their menu. After having a really great dining experience at another restaurant in the Beau Rivage, I was super excited to try Jia. Our dinner at Jia was definitely the best hibachi experience that I've ever had. We had a Friday night reservation for 9pm, but arrived a little early and decided to have a drink at the bar. Hannah, the bartender was welcoming and attentive, and made an amazing old fashioned! Once we were seated at our table, drinks were refilled quickly and shortly after we placed our orders. I had the filet and shrimp and my dining companion had the filet and lobster. My filet was cooked to perfection, as well as the lobster. The entire experience from beginning to end was amazing! So unbelievably ridiculous. We arrived late but it was before 9:30 so decided to go downstairs to eat. Jia has been closed on previous visits so , yay, it was open. Restaurant almost empty but the 3 hostesses standing at the door said it was booked or we could get the full menu at the sushi bar or sit at the bar and also get full menu. We said great, but then one of them said that someone's dishes needed to be cleared before we could go in and to wait by the benches outside the door. We waited and watched other people walk directly in to the sushi bar, another couple walked directly into the bar but the hostesses stopped them. The bar tender never cleared the spot. They had a big group waiting so even though they "close" at 10, they were still going to be serving. At 9:50 I asked one of the 3 if they were going to clear the bar and her response was, I don't know why they haven't done it. I see "them" clearing other tables now." I asked if she could ask someone to clear it and she said, " I can't interrupt them..." By this time other restaurants stopped seating so we ended up eating at the terrace cafe. While the Terrace Cafe and The Buffet have long lines and wait times at normal dinner hours, you can pretty much be assured that you won't have to wait to eat at Jia. Had the California roll (no crab) with soy paper and it was great! They also have a vegetarian roll on the menu. We also had the Pad Thai with Tofu (no chicken) and it was amazing! It is on the spicy side, so ask them to make it mild if you can't handle spice. Dessert was the Tahitian Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée and it was decent. I would've liked it to be a bit warmer (temperature seemed like it was sitting out) and have more of a vanilla bean flavor. Hot Green tea was great! We always have said that Capital Grille in Milwaukee was the best restaurant ever. At the end of our dinner at Jia, we changed our opinion. I had the butter fish(aptly named as it melted in my mouth) and husband had the rib eye. After the first bite he said it was the best steak he ever ate. Wow...beautiful place, but some aspects leave a lot to be desired. First, we went to Beau Rivage to celebrate my mother-in-law's 80th birthday. She paid for the room, and the room is very nice. Large, spacious, but a distinct lack of plugs around the desk to plug electronics in. They DEFINITELY want you on the casino floor... As for Jia restaurant (located on the casino floor), it was a nice looking restaurant, but lacked in several areas. First, we tried to get the restaurant to have a birthday cake for my MIL. My wife called at 4:56pm the day before our reservation, got the hotel operator, and was told the restaurant opened at 5. They don't transfer calls to any restaurant/shop within the hotel, so the operator plays middle man for the entire call, calling the restaurant with questions as they come up. NOT GOOD! After fighting with the front desk for a while, we finally hung up after they told us we could order a special desert, but needed to bring our own candle. Second, at our reservation, I wanted to order a beer. They had the usual Japanese suspects (Kirin, Kirin Light, etc), but they listed Blue Moon as an imported beer (charging more for it, of course). I didn't realize Denver, Colorado was no longer part of the US... I ended up just drinking water, as the beer selection in the restaurant was poor at best. They had lots of different beers, but I'm a bit of a beer snob, and won't drink the standard US offerings (Budweiser products, Miller products, etc). Third, I ordered the Orange Chicken from the menu. All the other orders show up in HUGE bowls, and mine showed up in a small bowl that was smaller than my hand (I have small hands). Everybody at the table literally started laughing when they saw how small the meal was ($28 for the privilege), but luckily I ended up swapping with somebody else because they felt their spicy beef was too spicy. It had good flavor, but this Orange Chicken meal is better offered as an appetizer rather than a full meal. Overall, everybody loved their meals (I loved the one I swapped for), but the overall experience for me was severely lacking. The Restaurant did come through with a nice Crème Brule (with a candle) that my Mother-in-Law loved for her birthday, so points for that. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back to Jia. read more

Let me just start by saying this place was awesome. We did have one minor hiccup whenever we arrived but thankfully the food and customer service from every other employee was amazing. When we arrived at 7:52pm our reservation was for 8pm and the hostess had an attitude with us saying she couldn't seat us until 8pm. Told us we had to wait for 8 minutes, which was minor until we were seated at 8pm to an empty table. I was curious why we had to wait 8 minutes if they table was already ready. Probably would have ordered one extra drink just from being there a little bit longer. Thankfully our waiter and hibachi chef were amazing. The food was amazing. I didn't get the name of our chef but he definitely was awesome. We ended up having one of the hibachi tables to ourselves because no other customers came in. We waited about 30 minutes for our food to start coming but the waiter made sure to explain this as much as he could. We didn't mind the wait and were just happy we were informed throughout the entire process. The hibachi chef was entertaining and served amazing food. Since we were there celebrating our engagement he made the fried rice into a shape of a heart. Nice little touch just to make the night a little special. We got the filet and chicken hibachi combo and I could have eaten myself into a coma. So much food and it was so delicious. I have had hibachi in other places but Jia definitely is at the top of the list. For being inside of a casino I expected it to be a little bit more expensive than a normal restaurant but I really didn't find Jia to be that expensive. The most fitting phrase I can find to describe this restaurant is "highway robbery." Let's start with the appetizers. $9 for a simple bowl of edamame, as in boiled soybeans. I can understand if they took the beans and did something unique with them, but they were simply sprinkled with sea salt. Moving on. $8 for a cup of miso soup, and $9 for a simple green salad. This would be fine if they tasted unique and different in any way from the much less expensive miso and salad I eat at my usual sushi spots on the east coast, but this wasn't the case. Because we were with a large party, we got to sample quite a few of the appetizers, and I wasn't particularly impressed with any of them- pretty tasteless and forgettable. This was my first sign that things were going downhill. Let's move on to the sushi. Because all of the sushi/sashimi pieces were RIDICULOUSLY overpriced ($7 for two tiny pieces of salmon?), we opted to share a california roll and splurge on a spicy crawfish roll. I have worked in a sushi restaurant for two years, and I think I have a pretty firm grasp of good sushi. This sushi was not good. Our california roll was 80% rice and lacked in both ingredients and flavor. Keep in mind, this was a $9 california roll (since they only consist of crabstick avacado and cucumber they are usually priced around $4), so I was expecting it to blow my mind. Our spicy crawfish roll was also disappointing, especially considering it was $15. We sampled a few pieces of sashimi that our friends ordered, which were (again) pretty tasteless and forgettable. For our meal, we split the Singapore Curry Infused Rice Vermicelli (under the "entree" section, for the record). This was, too, a huge disappointment, completely lacking in any flavor. A simple noodle stir fry that tasted like mediocre Chinese takeout. So tasteless that I had to drench it in soy sauce. For $24, I felt like I had been swindled. I tasted my friend's pad thai, which was equally as bad. "I do say, I've been had!" I thought to myself (using a ridiculous British accent) upon finishing my meal. The sesame seed cookie at the end of the meal was tasty, and the server was very nice and attentive. Other than that, I was extremely disappointed. This place will screw you out of your money and give you sub-par food in return. Our bill came to over $80 for two drinks, two sushi rolls and a single entree- good Lord! The sushi chefs will create things to cater to your tastes and even allow you to explore new things based off your liking. The hibachi is outstanding - they have the entertainment portion during the preparation of the meal - but the food is incredible. Egg Drop Soup is AMAZING. I'm the pickiest eater on Yelp - just look at my reviews. I have NEVER been upset dining here and anytime I'm in the area it's my first place to dine. Completely underwhelmed. I've been here a few times in the past and the experience was nothing to write home about but just fine. This time, not so much. First off, there was a hard piece of plastic in my salad. I understand this happens from time to time, even at a supposedly nicer place such as Jia....however for the server to not offer even a free drink or reduced dinner on a bill that was well over $700 before tip is inexcusable. Besides that complete mishap, the chicken lettuce rolls were actually very good and my filet was decent (I could have done without the sauces it was drowned in though). Would I return? I doubt it. My waiter was very attentive and professional. He explained the menu to me and helped me choose the right thing. I started with some tuna nigiri and the Burmese crab Rangoon. I agree with previous reviewers that overpriced food is to be expected at casinos, but this was over the top, especially for what they give you. Most of the dishes only come with steamed rice, which seems ridiculous for the prices they charge. They could at least add some veg. I ordered the beef short ribs with Korean BBQ sauce and was very disappointed. The short ribs were tender- sure- but they were also incredibly bland, and they were plated in a way that the sparse BBQ sauce didn't even make it to every piece of meat. Our waitress quickly brought me extra sauce, which definitely improved the dish, but it was still somewhat bland. Another person in my party ordered the Jia's traditional trio, which came with halibut, butterfish, and a scallop. When (a different) waiter put down the plate, he said "scallops," which would have been fine if there had been more than one. The serving size was so small that others felt guilty testing it. This party member left the restaurant still hungry, and that was after we had all made our dinners "full" by paying an extra nine dollars for miso soup and salad. One other person in our party ordered the duck, which was very good and much bigger than anyone else's dish. If you have to go here, I would recommend the duck. Service was excellent food was good but nothing different. The yum yum sauce was wonderful. I usually don't use much of the sauce but this was different and really good. read more
