I visited this "exhibit" on 12/17/14. I was just reading the Dec issue of "Las Vegas" and happened upon an article on The JFK Exhibition and it prompted me to want to write a review for others. I don't know why I didn't check reviews before I went and save the money.
As others have said, it is simply a poorly done exhibit. It's just cheesy and skimpy and not work the admission price. I'm a history fan, JFK history fan as is my buddy who went with me, he with a degree in History! As others said, replicas and minimal interesting pieces. My buddy pointed out how the replica of the oval office was poorly done, missing even simple décor that could have made it better.
As someone else commented, this exhibit is set in one big, bare meeting room. Everything spread out making it look like there was too little to fill the room making it look just weak.
There numerous banners with photos and associated information about those photos from childhood to adulthood; private life to political life; family, friends and events throughout JFK's life. Now, these banners/posters/readers, whatever you call them are about 7' high and 4' or 5' wide. Here's a simple problem/solution: these banners start about 6" (inches) off the floor and go up to about 7'. These banners are spaced apart by about 10'. So you want people to bend over to see and read print 6" off the ground? and then strain to read at the 7' level? Don't they realize mostly old people will come see this? So start the banners at the 4' level and go to just 6' and then widen it to 10' wide. Even 3' to 6' would be much better!
The have, at two locations, digital cameras set up where, I guess, a person can sit/stand and have a photo taken with the given backdrop. One is the presidents desk and the other I forgot, but maybe the white house logo or something. But, no instructions anywhere
We did have one woman approach us in the replica oval office and chat briefly about the Resolute desk and the rocker in the office. She was nice and informative but it was short lived. The
Finally, there is merchandise to purchase: shirts, replica buttons, posters; key rings, glasses, platters, sweatshirts and misc. other items. That makes it even cheesier.
two cars are boring, merely cars that JFK rode in regularly otherwise not the least bit interesting to me.
So, honestly, I would skip this exhibit or at the very most, pay maybe $5 to get it. There was no one else in there during our viewing. read more
