Mothers Day Gift Fail - So I spent $800 on 2 swatches in the Austin store. After picking from the…read moresamples, salesperson Liz says "let me get fresh watches from the back". One of the watches takes batteries, so she offered 2 spare batteries and put them in the bag. Well, while at a family Mothers Day dinner I give my wife her watch. She unboxes it in front of everyone, and was initially thrilled until she realized is wasn't running. Embarrassing enough, I say "give me a moment" and I watched a Youtube video. "I'll change the battery in case that's the cause". After a long time finding a jewelers sized screw driver and tweezers, I removed the battery and went to replace it with one of the replacement batteries Liz provided. The replacement battery did not fit - too big. It's a #390 and after some on-line research - the watch takes #394. So it was a complete fail, and embarrassing. I ordered some #394s on Amazon and got it working 3 days later. Lesson learned - don't buy from Liz, and check the "brand new" watch before leaving the store. (the other is self winding, so we avoided the same problem)

I asked the young guy behind the counter if he could work on my watch and he said he'd have it done in ten minutes and it'd be about five bucks, maybe a little more depending on which battery it took. While he was toiling away I looked around at the various sparkly things (definitely NOT a lack of those) and after about five minutes he looks up from his bench and goes "Uh, I can't get your watch to work. I've tried a few different batteries, it just won't work." Of course I was bummed out, I love my watch! The reason that I gave this place five stars is because he was honest with me. He said it'd be cheaper to just buy another watch rather than have it repaired and apologized that he wasn't able to just get a battery in it and send me on my way.
