One extra star for Victor the cart guy! Victor is the most friendly person i have ever met! You feel like you have known him forever in the few seconds you might interact and that is great!!! I appreciate him! Otherwise , Jewel is way over priced compared to other area offerings. This is with a few side notes. If you can catch a managers special discount the prices are great on meats. Occasionally a special as well. It is clean and overall nice inside. Pretty decent produce too. read more

Jewel-Osco - Storefront - Grocery Near Me - Oswego, Illinois

Had an extremely unpleasant experience at this location at 11AM on Sunday, June 8, 2025. POCs beware! Shop with caution! An older middle aged white woman came up to my sister and I in the produce section to harass us about using the produce bags. She claimed she worked at the store, had been watching us, and asked us why we were taking produce bags. Mind you, this woman had a cart, no name tag, and no uniform on. We told her that we were getting produce with the produce bags? Even with that answer she kept harassing us and asked why we put the bags into our basket and what we were using them for?? What on earth could I possibly use a produce bag for in a grocery store? Did she think I was going to poop in the bag and leave it there? The reason why I believe this woman when she said she works there is because after she was done harassing us she went over to the doors that go to the back fridge sections and started chit chatting, laughing, and hugging the employees with actual uniforms on. I'm not sure why this woman decided to watch two POC girls and to grill us over plastic bags of all things. She didn't even talk or look at any other customers. Just us! Inclined to say that it was racially motivated discrimination. Disgusting behavior. I tried to continue shopping but it felt so gross that employees were potentially watching and judging us the whole time. What if I grabbed an apple wrong? They'll interrogate me why it's bruised! We left shortly afterwards. Guess I'll put a pick up order at Walmart instead. I'm not sure what kind of training these employees are getting but is it that wild to think that customers would use the provided produce bags in the produce section? If the store is hard up on money and can't afford to provide 0.5 cent plastic bags then maybe the store has bigger issues. I wouldn't be shocked if this store tells their employees to count the toilet paper sheets when going to the toilet. Questionable whether or not we'll come back to this location. However, I'm definitely telling everyone I know about this experience. Avoid using those plastic produce bags otherwise, you'll also be questioned on your audacity to use their facilities! read more

Michelle was so fantastic this morning. I just want to say thank you so much for taking the time to show me the app and helping me do my shopping. It made my day and I want to wish you happy holidays Michelle. read more

This Oswego Jewel is only good for packaged items. Chefs Kitchen isn't following PPE and the constantly cross contaminate. Let's not even start on how OLD they let their Hot food items get! Jewel-Osco - So old & dry it's shrank...What a waste of $9! Here is a tip: Don't eat food from door preparers whom don't take pride in their work. - Grocery Near Me - Oswego, Illinois

This location is HORRIBLE...ESPECIALLY the deli counter. They barely have a selection and the staffing is nonexistent. Saturday mid afternoon only one person working. I ask how long for potato wedges, they say 7 min. I come back 10 min later, wait 10 min for the one worker to attend to another customer, ask about wedges only for the other worker to say they were for a catering order! He asks can more be dropped and he says he doesn't have time!!!! WHAT?!?!!! So unless I have a catering order I can't order??? After I waited?? I'm calling corporate because they should just shut the deli down period!! read more

Customers have to carefully watch the expired dates at this Jewel Osco. I saw a frozen pork dinner product that was selling at 1/2 the original price. I looked at the expired date The product was 2 months best the use by date. Then I saw a bag of Birdseye bag of frozen peas & corrects that was shown as selling for $2 at the frozen section shelf .. The item rang up for $4.99 I returned the $5 bag of of frozen peas & carrots. I left the store with 2 Osco purchases that I needed today I have started grocery shopping at better stores read more

They sell bad meat they need the first time I went in Jewel Osco or any other Jewel Osco there's a couple of them on Harlem Avenue and there's one I believe on 47th those guys always have brown disgusting meat. I tell the folks in the front of Bar, we will go check it. I walked by later on no one checks it it goes in one ear and out the other just like your money your throne in the toilet bowl. read more

Today is 05/13/20 Last week I bought a pork tenderloin /applewood flavor. As the coals were starting I saw the use by date of 4/30/20. It was a week and a half past the use by date when I bought it. I will never, ever go back. Why can't they get zero stars. Makes you wonder what their true rating is. read more

The only thing I have to say about this particular store is that it will not matter what time of day you go in there, you can count on waiting a minimum of 20 minutes in line. Every time I come to the store there are long lines. Not sure if they're just aren't enough employees, enough registers, or if the employees are just not efficient. I hate shopping here for this reason alone. read more

Though close to my house, this Jewel is not my grocery store of choice due to it's poor quality produce and meat sections. I've been in more times than I can count and have had to go to another grocery store (though this is the closest to my house) because produce was visibly rotten and flies were buzzing about. The meat section also leaves a bit to be desired with nearly expired meats the focus on the shelves. The frozen food section is good at this location and they have a fairly strong organic department with more than few good buys - I just wish the overall shopping experience here were better, again, it'd be so convenient. After 9pm, don't expect more than one checkout line to be staffed. The self-checkout at that point is your best option. read more

To give this Jewel even one star is generous. This Jewel has the worst Customer Service compared to any Jewel I have been too! Every time I go here, I say to myself never again! The only nice people in this store are in the meat department, and one nice young lady named Allie in the bakery. The cashiers act like they are doing you a favor and never smile! I usually have to bag my own groceries, but do not pay Aldi prices here! Their plastic bags are a joke, they tear as soon as you pick them up. The store is dirty and the produce is old and over priced. If these people do not want to work with the public they should find other jobs! I will not go back to this Jewel, the one in Naperville is so much nicer and the employees are very nice. Jewel prices are ridiculous, might as well go to Whole Foods. This Jewel diffidently needs a new Manager who pays attention to his employee's actions and expects a clean store! Again, Naperville is much nicer! read more

Giving them one star is being generous. I shop at this jewel only because it's so close to my house but I'm definitely gonna take the commute to Walmart. I went in to buy a case of beer for a family party like I do ALL THE TIME, never had a problem but this manager "Tina" took a quick glance at my ID and said "No, we don't accept vertical ID" (I turned 21 two months ago) I told her "I'm here all the time, they've always checked my ID and I've never had a problem". She's gets to saying "well they shouldn't have done that. I'm the manager and we don't take vertical IDs." I asked if they had that policy written down cause that's NEVER happened before at this exact location and she just said "it's w managers discretion and I'm not taking it." NOT ONCE did she apologize or even say it politely. I understand I look young and of course no one likes verticals ID's but the way I was treated was HORRIBLE. Her attitude was very rude it was obvious she did not care about me taking the drive to jewel and being a customer. I asked her for corporate number and she gave me a number OUT OF SERVICE. Definitely save your time going to this jewel they do not care about their customers!! NEVER going back! read more

I have been here a handful of times. They are always out of stock on many of the items I need. Produce is always horrible. And the cashiers are not curtious. read more

I go to this location frequently because I live close. There fruit is usually always pretty old so I try to stay away from it. I also have a newborn baby and there have been a few times I have asked them to unlock their cabinet they keep the baby formula and they can't find the key so I have to go to another store to get it, which can be quite frustrating in the middle of winter. I have also witnessed employees somewhat arguing at the register. This was just last week. This is pretty uncomfortable for the customer that witnesses it. Overall I just wish their fruits were more fresh so I could trust that when I bought a watermelon or an orange I wouldn't be peeling or opening something old or just not good. I also wish they had a central location for their key for the baby formula, although that doesn't matter anymore because I don't buy it from them since that happened. I don't like to waste my time. Update: bought a spoiled sweet potato pie. Even my 6 year old wouldn't eat it. I guess if you have to cow here for convenience don't buy fruit or their baked goods. read more

Went back for more flowers for valentines day, Once again, extremely helpful even when they were really busy. I'll keep coming back.

I am still appalled by the store manager's terrible customer service, lack of care, and foul language that I endured. I had hurt my foot just before the fourth of July and was unable to actually walk to the back of the store to get alcohol for a party I was attending on my own and had to get a scooter; which I have never used one at a Jewel before. As if that's already not embarrassing enough, what happened next will horrify you. I was trying to get to the back cooler, but the store had displays of alcohol set up in the middle of the aisle therefore making the aisle to the cooler much narrower than usual. I began going through two displays; one of large Smirnoff Vodka bottles and the other I don't remember. When I realized it was too narrow and I wouldn't make the turn without knocking something over I backed out; but what I forgot was that the arms to the scooter were there and in an upright position. So when I backed out I ended up knocking a box of 5 vodka bottles which came crashing to the floor - thankfully only 3 of them broke. As I sat there horrified and unsure what to do one of the store employees came over and made sure I was okay and that I wasn't cut by the glass. I stayed there because one I still needed what I was going for and I wasn't sure what to do. The manager that day, whose name I believe was, Lynn, came out and was really rude to me. She said, "What in the world happened here?" I explained. She said "Well, this sucks because I'm going to have to eat this. I'm going to have to pay for this. I'm really really upset." She never once asked if I was okay or if she could help me get what I needed. I sat there because there was a cart blocking my way to get to the back refrigerator until the mess was cleaned up. She left the area and when she did the store employee who had been kind at first asked if there was anything she could get me and I asked her to move the cart so I could get where I needed to. I got what I needed and went down the makeup aisle (as I needed that too). This aisle was only one away from where the spill happened ... and this is what the manager said, "If I was a car shop I'd tell her 'Don't bring your vehicle in here cause you wouldn't be driving in my store without driving lessons. I know I'm being a bitch but this just makes me mad." Then the employee mopping it up said "Shh, she could be right around the corner or nearby." The manager replied, "I DON'T CARE!" Then to the employee that was kind to me she said "Why was she just sitting here? To watch our handiwork? What a fucking idiot!" And the negativity and swearing continued but I was so upset and trying to avoid confrontation and so I left. I thought I'd be able to get in touch with someone at corporate but I have been trying to contact corporate since the incident and if I call after hours there is no voicemail to leave a message and when I call during the day when I'm put on hold there is no music or anything and I've yet to get through to anyone. To say the least I am very upset at the way I was spoken to and spoken about. I'm a pretty nice person and have never been treating so disrespectfully. The manager should have held her tongue at least until she was behind closed doors, not out in the open so patrons could hear her. Her language in and of itself should be cause enough for concern on Jewel's part. So as embarrassing as this could be for me; it's even more embarrassing for Jewel. Oh and I realize they lost $50 in product but I spent over $135.52 that day - and if I had time to go elsewhere and wasn't in pain I would have left my cart as I will not only not return to that Jewel but I will not be spending my grocery money at any Jewel again. read more

I applied for a bagger position at the Jewel on Rt 30 in Montgomery, IL. After a VERY quick 5-minute interview, I was told I was hired by the store manager, Victor. I asked Victor if he needed an answer right away and Victor said no. I asked if I could call before 5pm on Friday and Victor agreed. I called back on Friday afternoon as agreed and I was told that the position was filled. I asked if we had an agreement about me calling on Friday and Victor said yes, but he filled the position anyhow. I know this was just for a bagger position, but I feel that Victor should have lived up to his word, as I did. Glad I did not start working there if this is how they treat people. read more

We live about 5 minutes away, so shopping there is easy for us. However, after yesterday I will never shop at another Jewel again. The produce area smelled. and there were fruit flies. We did our weeks worth of shopping and decided we didn't want to cook, so we were going to pick up chicken. The lady working, made eye contact with me and I said "hi" She said "wait a minute" I watch her walk to the other side of the deli and wipe something down. In no hurry, she came back and said "yes" I said "Can I have a bucket of chicken?" She goes "A bucket of what? Hot wings, fried chicken, what?" When I told her fried chicken she said "It's going to be 4 minutes, so your going to have to wait" Her whole attitude was bad. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE at all. She was rude and unprofessional. I have an order for chicken for a party coming up, that I am canceling because of her. I would rather drive another 2 minutes to another store then ever go to this one again. read more
