Jewel grocery store is great, my issue was recently ordering flowered to be delivered by their floral dept. They said it would be delivered on Feb 13. It was not delivered and when I called they simply said they could not get anyone to take time order and would refund my $. Too late for me to order from another vendor and the service person simply stated "it happens"....will never use them again for these services. read more

We've shopped at the Minooka Jewel since it opened in early 2000. It has always been an OK experience, but our only choice, unless we have time to travel to Marianos or Tony's where there is much more variety, excellent meat/seafood departments, usually at better prices. That being said, this Jewel is extremely convenient due to its location for Minooka/Channahon residents and either myself or other members of my household end up shopping there, up to five times a week for last minute or forgotten items. After my experience today, I thought this would be a good time to finally post a review. When we did our weekly shopping today, the store was poorly staffed, especially for a busy Saturday afternoon. There was a long line at the deli and only one staff member helping customers. This is not surprising because a great many times when I have gone to the deli, at all different hours, there have been two or three staff members present talking to each other and again, one staff member assisting a long line of customers. After a ten or fifteen minute wait, I usually give up. Another time, last week, I was the only customer at the hot food section of the deli, three staff members, and no one came to assist, no greeting, no I'll be right with you," no eye contact. Nothing. I really needed what I came there to get, so I waited. Five minutes is a long time to stand there and wait, especially when there are three available staff standing there socializing. When we went to check out, today, understandably the lines were long because it was a busy time, however, despite these long lines, there was only one adult staff member available to ring up alcohol beverages. As a result, the wait in all of the lines was long as we waited for each checker to call on her phone to request this single employee to come to complete the check out prices. Staffing definitely needs improvement! The customers who faithfully shop there should have good service. I do applaud Jewel for the hiring of all the young people who work there. The staff that I mentioned who were standing around socializing were definitely adults and not the young workers. These young people are always helpful and courteous and actually make the shopping experience worthwhile! This review is no reflection on them. read more

Some of these bad reviews are hilarious and way out dated. My visit to Jewel was just look for some alcohol for a party at my friends house. Usually there's an aisle strictly dedicated to booze but I love how they have it all the way in the back, which unlike most places is what I like most and then they have an aisle in front of the booze that is nothing but wine ( paradise ) Items are definitely well stocked,great priced, friendly staff, great service, good parking. It's a big store, so it would be hard to not find what you need. Will definitely return if I come back in the area. read more

I went to Osco for my husband's prescriptions today, one was finished and Natalie stated that it would be over a hour for the other two. I asked why and she stated that she doesn't know and that maybe insurance, which is not the case, same insurance- she was very very rude. She said a wrong button was pressed and that she never checked to see what was wrong until I came in. It's been 5 months, and I still hate this store. Their produce department is filled with rotting food, and it's not inexpensive. Really.

Since the long remodel things done now the store is still a complete loser. They have ads but for three days no Pepsi and no excuse. The new bread is always old tasting and the in house bread over proofed. The deli is still not hot items and sit too long without rotation. Since this is the only store in the area we are stuck but build a Whole food or Marianos and Jewel is gone. The people that thought they are improving only decreased the space and limit the quantities. Customer service is a joke mostly because they have young people who don't care. Jewel was at one time a good place with professional people and now it is very poorly run. Management makes too many excuses. Get a life the remodel is over and nothing is better. read more

This Jewel is just down the road from my house but by far one of my favorite Jewel's in the area. They seem to have a larger selection of groceries than most, and is always well stocked and clean. I was stopping at a different Jewel that was on my way home from work for a while but kept having issues with some of my produce rotting quickly, but I don't have that problem here. For family gatherings I order large quantities of chicken and sides online and have never had a problem. It is always made on time, hot and fresh. They have put in a brand new Starbucks which is awesome and convenient. I can be pretty needy, especially when Oscar Meyer lunchables are on sale and there are no more pepperoni ones left, but Dave in produce is always super friendly, knows my entire family because we always seems to be there, and is always very willing to help us find anything we need. We make sure to look for Dave every time we are there! read more

This store is by far one of the best. I moved to Minooka from an area that had literally every store you can image within a few miles. It took me a long time to adapt shopping at just one store, but this is it. Their quality & prices cannot be beat by the big box stores nearby. Their staff is the best. I recently got married, and i had the floral department in the Minooka jewel make my bouquet, and my husband's boutonniere. Cindy did an absolutely beautiful job! my roses were the perfect shade of burgundy that i was really looking for, and the greenery flowing down the front completed the entire look. I'd highly recommend them if you're in need of a florist. Ask for Cindy while you're there! Also, I had the produce department do fruit trays for the appetizer time at the wedding, and some of my guests said it was the best pineapple they had ever had! I've always loved the fruit I've gotten from jewel, and the beautiful platters for the wedding were no exception. read more

This place normally has nice workers but is way understaffed. It's impossible at any time to walk in and just check out. Always over packed. We need another grocery store in town. Today the older lady working the customer service counter needs to smile more and lighten up. She was rolling her eyes and quite rude. The Starbucks workers are the best part of this jewel. This store in Minooka is disgusting. I have lived out here for 5 years and I don't think the cart areas in both entryways have ever been vacuumed! That's your first impression. Then you go in and good luck trying to purchase your deli needs, employees doing nothing but acting busy ignoring the long lines of people only one employee actually helping people. Prepared chicken is dry and taste old they just dump the new on top of the old and toss it around. Produce expensive and did you ever see anyone cleaning those produce cases or bins??? Shelves are empty, stockers in every aisle who just stand there and ignore shoppers trying to get by. Manager should be embarrassed. The people of Minooka/Channahon deserve better. read more

Unfortunately this trip was not a good experience. While I normally can work with typical issues of a grocery store, but this was not a good trip, It started with a lack of baskets and small cart, thus I was only using my arms to hold groceries, with one main item to get. I proceeded to the meat dept., after getting some produce, to enjoy a night of grilling for myself and girlfriend. As I waited next to another woman and after she finished, the butcher left and I waited for over 5 minutes. As I left, I noticed a button hidden to ring in the back room for service, this button was in the prepackaged meat section. I hit the button, but now there were 4 others waiting and the butcher went to help them, I was now out of luck. I decided to get my milk, etc. I came back and still 5 people were waiting for meat. I went to get a bottle of wine for dinner, again with my girlfriend. I came back to the meat dept, again 5 people waiting. Since I did not have a basket, I had to cut my shopping short since my arms could not hold much, thus not picking up the one item I wanted to get. I heading again back to the meat dept, oh... again 5 people waiting. I decided to go check out, but since I was so hungry and was not going to grill out, I saw the unhealthy Pringles and picked them up, not planned. I proceeded to check out line 2 with the light on, dumped my stuff onto the belt before I noticed no one was there, did I mention the light was on? I waiting again before picking up my groceries to the "quick" check out lines. I will speak to the manager! Totally not acceptable. read more

Never had a problem with this establishment until earlier today when my brother and I tried to use the restroom and the surreal happened: As we casually nudged the door open, an older lady who was apparently cleaning the bathroom (There were no signs outside letting us know any type of work was being done inside) immediately gets in our faces and starts yelling at us, calling us stupid and making a huge scene... As people gathered around to see why this out of control geriatric head case was throwing a fit, she began saying that we tried to force our way inside in an attempt to gain sympathy. Mind you, throughout the whole incident, we never raised our voices and simply said "excuse me?!" when she called us stupid out of nowhere - which I believe is a fair reaction as the way she acted was shocking and completely unprovoked. After we got one of the managers on the phone (we were told none were present) and explained the situation, she told us this wasn't the first time this lady had been territorial over her precious men's room. This begs the question, if she knew exactly who we were referring to (without giving her a name) AND it is not the first time she has completely disrespected paying customers out of nowhere, why is she still being placed in areas where she might come into contact with customers when she clearly has no restraint or self control? I get it, people have bad days and can be under stress, but the whole incident could have been avoided by her simply telling us that she was cleaning and ended it at that - we would have turned around and left. No need for the disrespect and sudden screeches out of nowhere. read more

Convenient location but it really lacks in customer service and quality. The deli staff is especially rude. Sometimes you have to take a number and sometimes you don't. It depends on their mood - but WATCH OUT if you don't have a number because I've seen them literally yell at customers for it! I always take a number now...even if I'm the only one there. The produce is usually pretty banged up and clearly not fresh. The bakery here is poor quality too. Stale bagels and donuts, really dry cupcakes. For me, its worth the drive to Super Wal*Mart or the Dominick's in Shorewood. read more

We are from out of town, but stopped to run in and grab a few 2 liters of soda for a family gathering. In the aisle every 2 liter bottle had a small yellow sign that said they were .99 each. We had 4 to purchase and the cost was almost $7!!! I asked the manager, who was close, why the discrepancy. He then began to go over a long list of conditions and stipulations that are required to take part in the sale price. I'm really glad that we have more options to shop at in our area. For the most part, it's just your typical jewel osco. It is convenient since it is the only major grocery store within 10 miles of here.

We recently moved to Minooka and there is not much around. Jewel is the only grocery store in the area. They can have good sales and much has changed. They did a complete new look and the presentation is awesome! The bakery did a complete 180 and the donuts are good. The deli is always busy and everyone very friendly. The meat department is always helpful when Im looking for a new way to cook something. Never had a problem there, only smiles and lost of help. My daughter was a bit bummed they took the self checkouts out, she enjoyed ringing. The parking lot is always clean, clutter free from carts. I have not tried their pharmacy yet. Oh, and there alcohol section is very nice! read more

This store is immaculately clean but the prices will kill you. The problem is, they are the only grocery store for miles around here and they know it, so they are milking us dry. They price-gouge on EVERYTHING...even their own store brand! They could really use some competition in the area. Rumor is we're supposed to be getting a Meijer in Minooka, I can't wait! Most of the employees are helpful and friendly, but the baggers REALLY need to be trained correctly. Unfortunately, I'm in there often and I'll see them standing by a register socializing or LITERALLY watching a customer at the next register bagging their own groceries while they are doing NOTHING. For those prices, you should NOT have to bag your own groceries! Not to mention, when they do feel like bagging your groceries, 9 times out of 10, you'll get home to find your kitchen cleanser in the same bag as your hamburger meat, a six-pack of pop on your bananas or 19 canned goods in ONE single crappy plastic bag. I'm not the only one this happens to, I've heard many in my area complain of this, but I guess Jewel doesn't care. If you shop here, make sure you have coupons, A LOT of cash, and keep a good eye on the bagger. Oh, and if you ask that your bag of potatoes be put in an actual bag, be prepared to get 'tude. We live very close to the Jewel so we probably go there almost every day, for one thing or another. Because of that we end up spending a lot of money here. On average we spend $300+ a week. Not including the we use the pharmacy and that really adds up as well. The manager here has a history of being extremely insensitive and seemingly put off by customers. For the most part the employees are polite, and some go above and beyond to be kind and helpful. Jewel is not really a discount grocery store, and although they do have great deals sometimes, you are generally paying much more to shop here. The main issue really is managment, he is not a polite person and does not take time to make sure customers are taken care of. I'm pretty good at reading people, and it seems like he thinks he is to good for his job and if you try asking a question he seems extremely put out. He needs to work on taking better care of customers as well as employees. I have seen him berate employees openly. Usually younger teen employees, and this is not helpful and does not motivate them to improve. He should try walking around seeing if he can help anyone. I am not confrontational nor am I the type of person to complain unless I see open injustice. I get very upset when I see workers getting scolded like toddlers for making simple mistakes. Anyway, it's a relatively small town so your going to have the same customers, get to know them. Treat people how you would like to be treated. Help out your employees. If your going to work in customer service industry, then learn customer service. And work with employees to get a smoother running environment. Just a simple smile goes a long way! Or learning someone's name. Or helping an elderly women get into an electric cart. I'm a nurse my job isn't always easy either, and I always have patients on every level of behavior you can imagine. However its my job to work with them to assure they are a little happier. Even shen they are yelling and extremely unhappy. You never know what they are going through and you need to have compassion and patience to work in customer service. Try a little harder and take pride in the way you treat people read more

Sooooooo many issues with this store. Too bad we don't have another small grocery store in town. The customer service is one of the worst we've ever experienced. We almost always have to bag our own groceries, the woman in Osco does not move when you are trying to get a product, why are the large carts always blocking isles on busy days? Don't they usually stock early or late? The Osco employees, not all of them, need a class on how to be professional, the lines are always too long with not enough cashiers, and the customer service manager does not treat people very well. We could name many more things, but you get the idea. Why is the store manager allowing the store to be like this and more important, why is Jewel headquarters allowing this? They all need classes on how to deal with the public and need to revamp the store starting with management. read more

This place is terrible. There is no quality control. First purchased chicken that was reduced for a quick sale that went bad overnight in the fridge. Second I purchased chicken at regular price that only lasted 2 nights in the fridge.Third bought a brick of mozzarella that lasted 1 night in the fridge. I'm done with this place after I brought it back they didn't want to give me my money back because I didn't have a receipt. I guess I have to drive over 10 miles instead of 2 now. read more

I love Jewel but the deli needs to get with it! They are soooo slow and I opt not to get stuff from the deli many times because I don't feel like waitng for 30 mins or so when I get my whole shopping done in less time than that.
