He advised they service the Portland area by appointment. I asked if it would be possible to schedule an appointment while I was in town. He was accommodating and worked with my schedule. Nate (technician) showed up during the scheduled window. In fact, he was 30 minutes early. After an hour or so, Nate identified the cause of the problem. Our A/C quit working in the middle of a 100+ degree heatwave. I contacted several companies, but most could not make a service trip to me for several days. I was pleasantly surprised that Whirlwind could make it out the next day. Turns out they are great at what they do. Ivan spoke with me on the phone to discuss what was wrong and what might be the cause that night. The next morning, he was here by 9:30am to trouble shoot. Within an hour the A/C was up and running and Ivan had put everything back as it was. Costs were very reasonable and, more importantly, they were exactly as stated before arrival. I liked most that Whirlwind was great at communicating with me, the customer. Both over the phone and in person. Beyond that they seemed most knowledgeable of all the companies, and above board. Some of the companies suggested things that didn't need to be done (such as drilling a vent through the wall instead of pulling the air inside the large garage), or shady things like not pulling permits. The company I used for my Air Conditioner misdiagnosed what was wrong. Mr Freeze determined the correct solution and told me what I needed to tell the other HVAC company to fix it (it was under warranty by them). They didn't believe me, and wanted to do their own diagnostics, which ended up shorting out the furnace. It ended up Mr. Freeze was correct. They were also very friendly and prompt. I don't see myself ever using someone else again.

Again the initial worker told me upfront he didn't have any training on these gas fireplaces, and he called multiple times for help, which is fine, everyone needs to learn. Just hold yourself accountable if you messed up. Yes we removed the glass AFTER it was being burnt. We've had it fixed now and have been told that the previous person who worked on it screwed up.
