My entire family used Jet-a-Pet (we worked with Cheyenne) to move from the US to Panama. My mom and sister moved a gigantic dog and 3 cats, and due to the size of the dog, Cheyenne needed to make all these special arrangements to send him cargo or something. They really pulled through and they were in contact with my mom the whole time when they had their layover etc. A year later I moved down myself with 2 cats. The process is totally harrowing and you have to do everything within a 10 day window and there's so much minutia. I'm a complete space cadet and I would NEVER have done this correctly if I hadn't had their guidance. I was so stressed out I was asking Cheyenne stupid questions that on some level I knew she couldn't answer (like questions about bank checks lol) just to alleviate my stress. There's no way I was not the most annoying person they've ever worked with haha. Honestly the most important part for me though was the driver Anthony picking the cats up and giving me a lift to Newark airport (from Brooklyn via public transit with 100lbs of luggage would have been horrific) and explaining the whole behind the scenes process with the airline, getting them checked through customs for me etc - Anthony was so key. Super calm dude and really kind. My moving day could have gone very, VERY differently but it went seamlessly. We've already recommended Jet a Pet to multiple people, as we've met some people deciding to make the move down here since. I'll start with the positive: Our dog arrived and is healthy. The negative: For the amount of money and time it took to coordinate an international move, and the stress of moving a pet internationally, I would not recommend this company to anyone. British Airways cancelled all pet flights for a month and a half departing Atlanta, which was our departure airport, and Jet-A-Pet didn't inform me about it; I had to contact them to verify where we could fly out with the change. When we were 10 days out from our flight, I called Lisa and Cheyenne to verify all the vaccination records were correct, both independently confirmed everything was in order. Fast forward to arrival in the UK, and we are informed the rabies vaccine was not considered valid by the UK Animal Reception Centre and our dog now has to quarantine for 21 days. Our UK Customs Agent never provided a list of accepted quarantine locations, and didn't respond to our calls or emails on Friday afternoon until Monday mid-morning. When we contacted Jet-A-Pet about our frustration and lack of satisfaction with their provided service, we were told it was our fault for using a DoD/USDA certified vet, and that despite their two person check of our dog's records, they were not at fault and did nothing wrong. Lisa, the Operations Manager, offered to refund 75% of our administrative fee (which won't come close to the cost of boarding or transportation from the airport to the pet kennel for boarding). Through a series of emails we explained our dissatisfaction with the lack of care and attention to detail provided by Jet-A-Pet, and were repeatedly told it was either our own fault, the vet's fault, or simply outside Jet-A-Pet's control. Eventually Lisa offered to refund 100% of our admin fee, a grand total of $800 (imagine my surprise when they only refunded $600 and it took them nearly three weeks to do just that). This company will promise you the world but when anything happens they will disappear and leaving you holding the bill. Terrible experience, and I have encouraged everyone I know who is traveling with pets to stay as far away from them as possible. TL;DR: Moderate price quote, but terrible communication and blamed us when they failed to do a thorough vaccine/records check prior. Promised 100% admin fee refund and delivered 75%. Lisa helped me with the transportation of my 2 dogs to Australia. The process was too difficult to deal by myself and I feel lucky that I found their company to help me out! Lisa is extremely professional in shipping pets to Australia and the people she worked with is extremely nice I.e., the company picked up my dogs in my local address and the boarder in LA. Their price is the lowest I found and it is like 30 percent lower than other companies. She answered me 1000 questions daily and never be inpatient. In all ways, I highly recommend their service for shipping pets to Australia. This company sucks and I only had a five minute phone conversation with them. I need to transport 2 dogs to Australia. They refused to discuss sending them on a direct flight to Melbourne, on Quantas, and instead insisted on sending them on Air NZ which would add another 7 hours to the process. Now why would I want my dogs to spend another 7 hours in a crate and add another flight to it all?? OH, right, because they "contract" with that airlines. Well, too fucking bad. Total scam and extremely unprofessional. I've never left a bad yelp review but this company shocked me. I was shipping my dog to Europe, paid 2,400 euro ($2700) got the crate and sent a photo of my dog in the crate to Cheyenne at Jet-A-Pet. Got to JFK four hours before the flight and met Anthony Graci from Jet-A-Pet who told me the crate was too small. He left me and my dog standing outside (v hot day, huge trucks driving all around) at the cargo center at JFK for 90 mins while he 'went to get a bigger crate'. I called him to ask where he was and he hung up the phone on me. Cheyenne then called me saying Anthony had another pick up at Newark and my dog would not travel that day, so he had no intention of getting me another crate. So upsetting. They insisted I pay $1000 more if I wanted her to travel, and I didn't have a choice as I needed her to get there. They agreed to a $200 discount since it was their fault, but I never got a good explanation for the huge additional cost. On a call with Anthony to organize pick up, he wanted to pick the dog up SEVEN hours before the flight. Jet-A-Pet absolutely do not keep the animal's welfare at top of mind, they are far more concerned with getting money and moving on. I remained polite but insistent as he yelled at me and called me names, saying that because I had not arrived FIVE hours before the flight it was my fault? He was extremely emotional and irrational and called me names, have not experienced anything like it. The dog got there in the end, despite this company's greed and unprofessionalism. Can't say enough about the fantastic work that Jet-A-Pet did in getting our Vizla mix to Costa Rica. It was starting to look like we would have to leave our family dog of twelve years behind -- a heartbreak -- until Mel and Lisa of Jet-A-Pet came through for us big time with a solution. Moving to another country, my husband and I were unaware of their policies regarding cats in the airplane cabin, and at the time, it was cargo only, compared to other countries where we could fly them in cabin. We flew out, and while our cats waited to be flown to us, my sister-in-law kept them. Cheyenne, one of the Jet-a-Pet representatives, answered all of our questions quickly, and we are very happy with the way she managed everything. My sister-in-law lives in Massachusetts, the proper sized crates were delivered to her, another representative picked up the cats, brought them to JFK International Airport in New York, their vet gave a clean bill of health, and they were flown to us accordingly without any hiccups whatsoever. To have a service like this was well worth the price compared to the exhaustion of lining everything up with our family and friends in the area to do the legwork and get everything needed for the flight. Received a quote from Jet-A-Pet to relocate my dog to a Baltic Country, the price was significant better than competitors. However I was able to find an airline that allowed our dog to fly with my wife during the summer and didn't their services and informed the company as such. An agent from the company than quite obviously lied to me saying the European Union requires by law travelers to contract with an "IPATA" pet shipper and that we could not legally get our dog to Europe without them. I believed it to be completely false and had no issues flying my pet to the EU without a pet shipper. Contact me for the entire email chain if interested. read more

Leigh was amazing! She responded quickly to all emails and calls with accurate and helpful information. She made the process of shipping my dog to Greece so much easier than if I had taken her myself. The agent that picked my dog up was professional and kind and eased any fears I had. The pet hotel sent me pictures and updated notification on when she arrived and departed the facilities. The agent that picked her up for customs in Athens sent videos and pictures and called to make sure I knew where and when to meet when she arrived at her final destination. it is nerve racking knowing you won't be there with your pet but with the help of all people involved in her shipment the process was smooth and painless. If you are looking to ship a pet I highly recommend them although be warned this is not a cheap service. You will pay a lot of money but it was well worth it. read more

I would use jet a pet again but would insist that there's no smoking while my pets are in the car. The only thing I didn't like was that my cats had to be transported in a car full of cigarette smoke. When the car came to drop them off, as soon as they opened the rear door to take my pets out, the cigarette smoke was overwhelming. read more

There are not words to describe my feelings about the condition in which our dog arrived. Prior to arrival communication was great, all questions answered in a timely manor and steps taken to ensure his arrival to us in the UAE. I felt very confident and calm about his trip from Orlando to France where he was to spend the night in a "Doggy Hotel" where he will have room to walk, use the bathroom, be fed and watered, and given a place to sleep and relax. The next day he was to fly to Dubai and delivered to us in Ras Al-Khaimah. We received calls updating us on timelines and we felt really good. With this I would have given a 5 star review! Worth the $3700 we were spending on their services! How he arrived to us... He had no leashes (left with 2), no collars (left with 2), no bedding in his kennel, no medications, no food, and NO WATER! We were not even given an explanation of what happened to his items! And that is the best I can say! My poor boy had feces all over him (keep in mind he was delivered to us from the airport which meant this was after they tried to clean him up a bit), was so dehydrated that when he first drank water his body threw it all up! And all he had in his belly was stomach acid! He was in pure survival mode and having a panic attack as he came in! It took us 2 hours to calm him down! His empty kennel with no padding or potty pads still has feces in it! This is completely unacceptable and no animal should ever be put through such conditions! I truly don't have the words I am looking for... Thus 1 star. read more

They blew my issue off even after airlines told me to have them file complaint. The guy that picks up pups and takes to airport for shipment is great. Very courteous and easy to work with. I'm begging you, DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY TO TRANSPORT YOUR PET! The term unethical doesn't even begin to describe these people. Furthermore, their entire enterprise is unprofessional (look at their website, it's a joke), inefficient, and ignorant regarding what it takes to ship a pet. In fact, I'm pretty sure the people who rate this 5 stars work for the company...these is NO WAY anyone could rate it that high. Upon receiving orders to Japan, my wife and I immediately began researching ways to transport our 1 year-old Shih-Tzu when we came across Jet-A-Pet. At first, everything seemed fine until the DAY BEFORE we were supposed to ship our pet (and subsequently get on a plane ourselves meeting her there), Jet-A-Pet called to say they could no longer ship her because of the May-September embargo for snub-nosed dogs! For weeks we had been told this was a non-issue and that everything was taken care of. For weeks we were reassured that Jet-A-Pet knew what it was doing. Finally, after hours of conversation they agreed to reimburse our full amount (seeing as though it was their fault). However, not without speaking with the rudest, most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with...that was before I met Mel....the owner. I left for Japan leaving my wife behind to solve this mess. Upon everyone's arrival (including dog) in Japan I called Jet-A-Pet to voice my complete disbelief at what transpired. I spoke with the owner. And he cussed me out and hung up on me! Unbelievable. I have used Jet-A-Pet to not only move, but coordinate my dogs transportation twice now. My dogs are large ones as well, a monster German Shepherd, and a big Standard Poodle; Bear and Lucy. Each time they have accomplished what other services would not even discuss with me. From San Diego to the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf, Leigh with Jet-A-Pet managed transport to LAX, a wonderful Kennel, and all of the shots necessary to move my dogs internationally. Likewise, for our return to the US, Leigh again coordinated flight plans, customs, collection and boarding near NYC. I was provided with options and alternatives, but always given expert advice that took my pets ultimate safety and comfort into consideration. When moving live animals half way around the world, the most direct flight is not always the best, and not all carriers are the same...by a long shot. We were station in Korea with our two dogs, we brought them over the contracted military flight with us. However coming out, we had a family emergency and were not given enough time to book a flight out where our dogs had space to fly with us. We hired Jet-A-Pet, they picked up the dogs (two hours away from the airport) and we picked them up in Atlanta once we arrived. I was beside myself trying to get our dogs out, I was not going to leave them, but we were running out of options. The lady I dealt with arranging everything was very caring and helpful. The staff that came to pick up the dogs carefully checked out the crates, water and food situation to ensure the dogs where ok before starting their journey. The dogs were not stressed at pick up and looked like they had better travel than we did. read more

While the return to CA did not seem as smooth as the trip out to NJ, they were responsive to my questions and concerns and very accomodating to my nees and requests. My pets, 2 dogs and a cat, were treated very well by the contracted companies that transported them to and from the airport, and provided boarding.
