This place is more of a 4.5. We were in the area so we thought we would give it a try. Soooo glad we did! Food was flavorful, portions were generous. Hummus-yumm and the hot pita bread! Combination Feast- delicious! I was able to taste a little of everything. I really liked the beef shish kabob. Mmm so tender! The chicken shawarma was ok, kinda dry. The falafel was also really good. This feast is a generous portion to share. Lamb Kabob sandwich- was not so tender and messy. My brother ordered it and would have been happier getting the lamb kabob entree. Overall it has a nice flavor. We would definitely return if we're in the area. Service was friendly and helpful, there were more things on the menu I'd like to try and most of all... a convenient parking lot.

I got the beef schwarma plate here and it was ok. The pieces of beef were very tough and dry. I was not a fan of having to chew it that much. The rice was pretty basic and they charge for the tahini sauce. Also, there is not enough veggies to offset the dryness. Atmosphere is ok, the tables could be a bit cleaner. Service is fairly fast here.

I've been going here for their lunch special for years, they are right on Roosevelt, and always clean and bright, plus the food is wonderful. I've been not feeling myself and needed to cater for my daughter's birthday party. Thankfully, I saw an ad on my Facebook feed for Jerusalem Cafe. I was able to put in an order a few days ahead, the man who answered was very kind and very helpful. I ordered three trays, the combo tray, the beef shish kabob tray, and the vegetarian combo tray. I hosted over twenty people, and had so much food left over! The trays were packed and everyone asked where I catered from. I'm looking forward to the week of leftovers I have left! Thank you for such a great meal, we all loved it! Everything was packed well, and nothing was missing. All of the salads were fresh and delicious, and the garlic sauce was amazing!

Tr8ed something different and wanted it to be authentic. Thoroughly enjoyed this "quiet" restaurant. Food was fresh. Service was good. Reminds me of a diner or cafeteria. I ordered the lamb kabob and my gurl ordered a veggie platter.ccant really talk to the veg plate but my gurl.says it was pretty good. However, the lamb was w9nderfully grilled, although if I was asked, I would have wanted the meat prepared with slight pink in the middle. It doesn't take away from how good the food was. Hands down one of the best Arabic food that has a a home style feel and hygienic clean food. The staff and owner are both very helpful. I usually get the lunch special as it's a bargain price for a FULL plate!!

Baba ghanoush-- was unique, different than other ones I've had. You can actually taste and feel the eggplants soft squishy texture. The flavor is also more roasted/smoky/darker than what I'm used to. Still really good, and I would recommend! I had it both lukewarm and refrigerated, and preferred lukewarm with warm soft pita, and refrigerated version with more dried pita chips. Kibbeh-- never had this before, but really liked it! They are like fried olive-shaped dough with ground meat filling. The ground meat inside the breading had a nice cumin flavor. No other strong particular tastes, good snack. I ate this with Baba ghanoush and hummus/tahini sauce. Lentil soup-- was really fine so it's not grainy at all, really smooth. Also I really liked the lemon wedge addition. Never had it like that! Combination feast-- meats are all good, beef and kifta kabob are both tender and pretty flavorful. Chicken was a bit dry but was really powerfully sour and flavorful, not in a bad way, just more noticeable than what I've had before for chicken shwarma. I also really liked their vegetables, they are not just freshly cut, they are mostly all pickled so are all sour/flavorful. It was surprising, but worked well with rice pilaf. Veggies in the sandwiches were also pickled so it had extra flavors. Eggplant sandwich-- this was unique, the eggplant didn't have much flavor but the seeds were crunchy and it's well roasted/grilled as it has a slight charred taste, and rest of the veggies were pickled so there's still lots of flavor. Lamb kabob sandwich-- this was just OK. I expected more lamb flavor but it was very slight. Tastes about the same as beef kabob. Falafel sandwich-- the falafel was very well fried, but very very salty imo, maybe it was just the batch but it felt like the taste was too strong for me, but my husband thought it was just right and it's super flavorful. They also have plenty of this, lot of quantity compared to other proteins. I really appreciate the difference in how Mediterranean flavors are when made by different restaurants. Overall quality of food was decent and quantity is OK too. Seems to have a homemade taste to it.

This place is going down a slippery slope. The food is ok at best. There are many other options in the area that are way better then this cafe. I had the shawarma and it was dry and fatty. That's happened to me a few times now. Hope they get it together. read more

I have been a fan on this place ever since it has opened initially cos of the close proximity of this place to my home and then also because of the fact that the food here is great ( and I love falafel & shwarma). I could not be more delighted with the combination entree plate! Comes with kebabs, shawarma, and falafel. I added chicken thinking chicken was not included. I was wrong, but def not mad about it! The portion size is hearty to say the least. The flavors are wonderful. The rice has great texture. Everything was awesome. read more

Yesterday was my first time here great experience with great food. When I came today a completely different experience. The young girl in front was so rude ignored me for 5 minutes as I stood there and then tried to take the customer behind me until I mentioned how she was ignoring me! I could have been a regular but we will see there are a lot of food places around here. There was no one in line when I came in. I stood for 5 minutes before someone else walked in the door and it was 2 people behind me. I have had nothing but great service since, everyone else is very friendly. read more

Love their food -- fresh and tasty with friendly staff. The portions are generous and they make up your order fresh -- no food that's been sitting for hours under hot lights. Also offer many selections so I'll be back to try them all. The restaurant is also very clean with comfy booths to sit on and prices are reasonable with fast service. I'm so glad to have a good Mideastern restaurant in my neighborhood. I usually don't do reviews, but wanted to get the word out about this well run restaurant. Falafel plate here I come! read more

I really wanted to love this place. Being very close to home, and replacing a horrid hot dog joint,anything with multiple vegan/vegetarian options gets my vote. As for service it just felt too "fast foody"...young cashier with not much service charm. I can get over that, if the food is worth it...and for the price, I was dissapointed. While the falafel are massive, they are dry and lacking. Huge portion of hummus, but had an odd flavour. I'm picky about hummus though because I make my own and always find it best that way. I wouldn't highly recommend but wouldn't advise to stay away either. read more

Been here 3 times & the food is very good with lots of flavor! Highly recommend trying it! Service is always very friendly! Prices are great for the quantity & quality you receive! If you like Middle Eastern food definitely try them! If you've never had Middle Eastern food it is very flavorful and worth trying. You won't be disappointed! I don't have to drive to the city anymore to get my fix of Middle Eastern food...yay! read more

I received my delivery order in about 30 minutes, much sooner than was quoted, which was nice! I ordered the combination feast (flavors were wonderful, will definitely order this again), Arabic coffee (wasn't my taste, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from ordering it), baklava (not the best I've had, but still good), super booster juice (very tasty), and baba ghannoug (this was great). I liked that the hot portion of the delivery order wasn't in styrofoam, but in a tin foil container (except the coffee, which may have contributed to my not 100% liking it). I will absolutely be ordering from here again, and hopefully I'll be able to go to the physical location eventually. read more

This was AMAZING! I ordered it on a whim from Grub Hub. They delivered it on time to my work place, and the lady was extremely nice! I ordered the lunch special with extra chicken, and was amazed at how much food came in the container. The spices were exactly right and tasted phenomenal. The only thing I get from here is the Shish Kabob platter, it is the most tender shish kabob I've ever had in my life. Everything else is good too, but I'm not a big fan of the other dishes. When in doubt get the shish kabob platter and make sure to dumb some of their amazing garlic sauce on it. I'm never disappointed when I choose that option. Staff is very friendly and sometimes they hook it up with free tea. read more

Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Highly recommend the combination feast for first timers-- it gives you a good sampling of the menu and it's a bargain! YES! I am so excited to have found Jerusalum Cafe today! I love Kefta-- and usually have to travel down to the city to get some that is authentic-- and fresh! The flavor of their Kefta is super fresh-- not over cooked-- spiced perfectly (not too salty) and I really love the char! An added bonus-- the Falafels are hard to put down as well! This is my new go to for Middle Eastern in the Western Suburbs-- I am so happy to have found this gem! Wonderful little restaurant just .2 miles down the road. However I would drive out if my way to eat here again. Ordered chicken schwarma. Thinly sliced and perfectly cooked. Hummus was flavorful and the vegetables were perfect. Very reasonable prices. read more

Delicious! Better than the Pita Inn which is hard to beat. They even have a lunch combo special similar to the Pita Inn. I was nervous initially given the turnover of businesses in this location, but decided to give it a try. It was busy and there was a lot of different clientele on my first trip. I talked it up and on my second trip, I brought my husband and three kids. I was talking about the kifta and ordered the chicken. The owner brought out a kifta just for me to try. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. I could eat it everyday. I hope this place stays around! read more

This place was great, food is top notch and so flavorful. We just happened upon in while in Lombard. Staff was great and food was priceed well. We will definitely be coming back soon. If you decide to eat here you have to try the falafel and gyros some of the best I've ever eaten. read more

I came here for mothers day with a bigger group. i was expecting the old Rezas, but it was very…read moredifferent. when we first got to the table there was a spill on the table cloth which they fixed right away after we pointed it out. the service was very slow and confusing, but we were one of two tables. it took a while for us to get water as well as utensils and plates and silverware. we had to ask multiple times for them to remember to refill the water pitcher. the food came very slow and disordered. we got our beef entrée before the soup which came after we already finished half our plate. the lentil soup, which was my favorite, changed recipes. which was the saddest part for me. i really enjoyed the beef skewer. the server was understanding and apologetic about the whole situation with the service. the price was not that bad considering how much food was eaten. I really love this restaurant and the food. i plan to return, hopefully they're more detail oriented next time i come here.

The steak was tender and packed with flavor! I ended up dipping the steak in the hummus! The Crispy Chicken was overcooked. It was really difficult to eat. The Rice was super dry. There were pieces I couldn't eat because it was just too hard. The chopped salad was good though. The Pita was just okay. It wasn't hot and it was hard to bite into. I am not the type of person to try new foods. But from how many people told me you have try this place, it is amazing, it will have you drooling the second you walk in, I couldn't resist. And boy was everyone right the food is amazing I had the combo feast which is a little bit of every thing. It took about 15 minutes but the place was busy and what else would you expect with freshly made food, it isn't a McDonald's. The food tasted just.....Perfect. DELICIOUS. If possible, we would give them 10 stars. Owner and workers are EXCEPTIONALLY HUMBLE. They are always apologizing for delays (which are never more than 5 mins). Their portions are generous and incredible. Their food is delicious and always on point. Try their combo platters with white sauce and fatoush salad and you will never order anything else ever again. In general, their food is really addictive, give them a try and you will never eat at any other middle eastern restaurant again. read more

I've been to just about every middle east restaurant in the Chicago metro area as well many in other states and this one is my absolute favorite hands down. Everything on the menu is great including their own special falafel recipe. My personal favorite meal is the kefta kabob entree and the delicious, chunky baba ghannouj. It is my most favorite meal of any restaurant that I've ever dined at period. Very authentic, superior quality and taste. read more

We were a group of five and accidentally ordered a half tray combination from the catering menu. However, the owner overheard us and kindly served the same delicious dishes for dining, which was a wonderful surprise. The steak, chicken, and hummus were all exceptional, and the service was top notch in a lovely, relaxed ambiance.
