My family and I stopped in this shop for a late Friday evening dinner. We found parking close to the front in the strip mall parking lot. We sat in the room adjacent to the takeout area which had plenty of tables and booths. In my humble opinion the bathroom and the room we ate in could use some fresh paint on the walls and better lighting. They must not entertain often because we were the only people in there besides a couple. The staff was nice and very busy juggling phone orders while helping us. We put in an order for buffalo wings, a small tomato pie and a chicken caesar wrap. The food came out pretty quick. The wrap was simple and nothing special as well as the fries that came with it. The wings were medium sized, appeared to have been freezer burned (dark spots), and were ok. The hot sauce was cut with butter and tasty. On to the Tomato pie, if you like your pie with chunks of San Marzano's and on the sweeter side you'll love it. The crust was typical for the style - not too thin or thick, crispy and the slices were almost as straight as an arrow. Cheese was minimal and I didn't detect much in the way of extras like garlic or oil. Overall, the pie was pretty simple with chunked and pureed San Marzano's, cheese and crust. My son devoured half of it and approved. I'm giving them 4 stars/great based on the tomato pie. The rest of the food experience and ambiance was just ok. Their menu has a lot of items to explore like pasta dishes, sandwiches and their regular pizza so another trip may happen when I'm in the area again. It's been a minute since our last meal at Jersey's Tomato Pie & Bistro; nine years to be precise. What was true last time, remains on point - the tomato pie is true to its name, "Trenton," that capital city across the Delaware River that has its own unique take on tomato pie. Where Philadelphia sees the breed as an "upside down" pie covered in thick heavy red marzano blanket, Central Jersey sees it as mozzarella cheese under chunky rich tomato distributed across the underneath cheese, but leaving much exposed to a return visit to the oven after the final partial layer of Marzanos in thrown on top for the final burn. All of which means these pies are crisp, firm and delicious. We added sweet Italian sausage for the win. True, Trenton Pies are an acquired taste, but once having acquired it, it has become my favorite pizza for decades. Jersey's is a solid representation of the genre. We also ordered a cheesesteak special (green pepper, onion, mozza & sauce on oven toasted torpedo) which was also excellent. The one noticeable issue was the obvious lack of heat in the house. We intended to eat in their dining room and were granted permission. We soon realized why there was no one else dining in. The room was cold and somewhat rundown. We changed our minds, and opted for takeout. The kitchen/cashier room was likewise unheated but for the working ovens. Not sure what the story is about heat, but hope it is only temporary. Service was fine, and Guillermo a talented interactive chef. Prices are reasonable in these times of inflationary restaurant prices. read more

We go here every Friday for their pizza. I grew up on good Jersey pizza and this place hits the mark. Their breaded chicken cutlets (sandwich & tenders) are also very good!!! They flatten them out thin and have a nice breading in them. We also love their chicken piccata over pasta! read more

I will be reviewing the Arugula Salad (Grilled Baby Shrimp, Asparagus, Eggplant & Zucchini with Fresh Mozzarella Topped with Lump Crabmeat and Balsamic). This salad has all off the vegetables char-grilled. It really makes the salad come alive with a smokiness only accelerated by the bitter Arugula....this meshes well with the ample seafood they put over the bed of arugula. The shrimp are small but good and the most expensive item the crabmeat they give you a nice amount- which for 13.95 I am happy they give you the right amount. So if you are in the mood for not your typical salad treat yourself to this item (you must be a lover of char-grilled vegetables and arugula of course) I have had the pizzas before here as well and they are good and also different then your normal corner store pizza shop. I've been waiting a very long time to find a decent tomato pie near me. Not only is this good tomato pie for being west of Trenton, it's one of the best tomato pies I've ever had. They make the sauce just to my liking, which is to say very sweet. Hefty chunks of stewed tomatoes sit atop a well baked crust. I typically dislike thin crust, but this thin crust is both authentic and tasty. It acts like a pizza crust, not a saltine cracker. The flavors and textures all work very well together. I'm crazy about their tomato pie. I plan on ordering it many times and that garnered this establishment five stars. However, their fries are very mediocre. I personally plan only to stick to pizzas, and never order the fries again, so take from that what you will. I was hesitant to try this place but I'm grateful I did, their tomato pie is out of this world. read more

Firasot delivery here. The delivery guy was nice and he got here right on time! Unfortunately, The only thing that had any seasoning and flavor was the brooklyn pie. The plain pizza was PLAIN. The wings had NO flavor and almost no heat and there was only a drizzle of sauce on them. There is ABSOLUTELY ZERO seasoning in the onion rings (look closely at them... Only breading) and the fries taste like they were microwaved and again... No seasoning (ie salt). First time getting food from here... Won't be ordering from here again. What a great find in a random tiny strip mall! They have gluten free pizza and pasta! What?? This is awesome!! Added bonus, the gluten free pizza is prepared on an individual foil tray AND a tinny pizza cutter that you can keep. I have tried a lot of pizzas, and the sauce used at this restaurant is fantastic! The perfect blend of sweetness and tang! That alone keeps me coming back! Unlike cheap pizza restaurants, the cheese seems to be good quality...Been there a few times, even decided to meet someone for a first date there since I knew it was "good" food and wouldn't give me the feeling "ugh i ate too much pizza" after 2 slices hehe I've tried the tomato pie, Brooklyn, white, and margarita... Haven't been disappointed yet. My friends and I have "girls" dinner night out... Feels like we are at the Jersey shore when we get a side of crinkle cut fries! Some of them got the Italian dishes and they looked great too! We all live in central jersey and we are surrounded by low quality pizzerias on practically every block.. Ordered my food for pick up, was told 30-35 minutes. Arrived 40 minutes later, paid for my food and was told 5 minutes. NO Problem. 35 minutes later and 7 customers coming in, paying for their food, getting their food and I'm still standing there. Until I complained the second time, then my appetizer...yes appetizer finally showed up. It gets better, when I get home, the appetizer (wings were burned so bad I wouldn't give to a dog) threw them out. Pizza was soggy from sitting for almost an hour!! I wrote previously about how great the food was here to dine-in. For our Super Bowl party we had our first take out experience here. We had trays of meatball parm sandwiches, chicken parm and vodka rigatoni. Everything was delicious and the trays were generously STUFFED with food. We had enough for the proverbial army. We also had 2 delicious tomato pies. Everybody loved it. We'll be back for our grandson's birthday party coming up soon. read more

I have to say I really really wanted this to be a good review, and have tried a good few items on the menu because I figured that everyone has a bad day once in a while. Unfortunately, I can't do it. I will say the tomato pie and the vegetarian rolotini have been the highlights. Both are very good. The owner is great. Seems like a nice guy, wants to do well. The bad? Most of the rest of the food we tried. The wraps were soggy and I couldn't get through the buffalo chicken wrap I had. Please make this a fried chicken wrap. It would solve its issues. Just don't fry it to death as you did the chicken parm, or over cook it as you did the grilled salmon. We like the mozz sticks, but I'm willing to be they're frozen - we just happen to like those as they're not greasy. The concept is good. You get a lot of food (actually probably too much). People would pay the same for less volume but very well cooked food. If you're looking for a good tomato pie, this could be your place, other than that it depends on what you get. read more

I've been on the hunt for the best Tomato Pie in the Tri-State area so when my Dad said he had a Groupon we decided to try Jersey's Tomato Pie and Bistro. I was so nervous coming here after reading the other reviews about the owner and the Groupon. But luckily I didn't have the same experience. My Dad and I shared the Chopped Antipasto Salad. It was light and flavorful. And it's large enough to share with three people. The Tomato Pie had a thin crust but it wasn't crispy enough. If you tried to pick up a slice without the pizza server, the sauce would slide off. The sauce was good, it was on the sweeter side. I would definitely order their Tomato Pie again. Our server suggested the Brooklyn Pie. So that's next on my list of things to try. I can't wait to try their other entrees as well. The menu is extensive. Oh and it's BYOB! read more

Great meal. Thank you fellow yelpers! The homemade balsamic salad dressing was awesome. Hubby loved the oil and pesto for the bread. I had the vegetarian eggplant rollatini. It was delicious. Eggplant was crisp. The spinach was fresh, and the ricotta and mozzarella were perfect. Hubby had the veal parm with, as he described it, the best garlic and oil pasta he's ever had. I should also mention, our server, Jackie, is a huge asset to the business. Gave us a take out menu, told us about delivery and catering. Awesome!
