My favorite parts of the tour were the 300 year old stallagitite, and the water throughout the cave; containing dulehemitite limestone, which contains magnesium, and if one drank the water , the bathroom would be their friend, lol. Great visit to Bushkill Falls in early October…read more Arrived late morning (around 11:30am) on a Saturday and it wasn't as crowded as I expected. You can enter the parking lot and walk around that immediate area for free, but will have to pay ($24 adult/$12 child) to enter the main trail(s) where the waterfalls are. There was a short line (5 minute wait) at that time. I do understand this is a bit pricey since many other waterfalls are free, or cheaper with state parks charging fees per vehicle, not per person. The cost at Bushkill can really add up, particularly with larger families. Once you purchase your tickets you go through an indoor area with some wildlife exhibits and then have your tickets checked before proceeding to the trails. They will ask what is in your bag if you have one...for reference, cameras, lenses and tripods were all okay, but no drones allowed. There are a few trails to choose from...the shortest is the Green Trail and only goes a little past the main overlook area to the main falls and takes about 15 minutes. The next is the Yellow trail which takes you past a few overlooks and viewing spots of the main falls and takes about 45 minutes. This is a great trail that would check most of the boxes for most visitors...and while the paths are mostly wooden-planked paths, there are a number of steps throughout the trail. The longer two trails are the Blue (75-minute) and Red (150-minute) that take you through the other smaller falls (Bridal Veil, Bridesmaid's, Pennell). We opted for the Yellow trails and took a little over an hour, stopping frequently along the way for pictures. At that time the trails weren't very crowded, but on the way out at around 1pm, we noticed the line to get in way much longer. Upon exiting the trail, there are a few shops including the Snack Shack, Gift Shop, Museum/Story to Bushkill Falls building, Mining Activity and Sweet Shop. Plan accordingly and you can easily spend most of the day there. Bonus for visiting during the peak fall colors...likely much more crowded though.

There are 3-4 different loops and based on the time you have you can choose one path .. yellow loops are average difficulty .. it does have some path which is a little steep steps, but not difficult for middle age people.. might be a little stressful for elderly people with knee pain issues.. there is also a red loop which is a lot more of Walk and takes more time.. there are maps showing each path and approximate distance.. parking is a bit crazy, especially near the entrance.. parking is free.. tickets are about $21 which isn't too bad . My family and I found this tour and though it'd be something cool to do while on our vacation. We…read morehad a really good time and it was very interesting and informative. The tours run consistently throughout the day so if you arrive and miss one, you won't have to wait long for the next one. There is a museum at the top of the hill but we did not have time to go through it. The tour starts with a ride down a miners car towed by a cable. It's not an original car to this mine but retrofitted from another mine and holds about 20 to 25 people. Everyone wears hard hats and if you want a hair net they have them. The tour is about an hour long give or take a few minutes and although I'm sure all the guides know their stuff, Patty was outstanding in giving explanations and answering questions. The mine closed in 1965 and the tourist tour opened in 1985. It is crispy cool and wet and dark and you get lots of views of how the mine operated. Remember, you only get paid for the coal brought out and the crew is expected to churn out about 8 tons a day with which is four carts overfilled. If you wanted to make things easier for yourself you can (like adding safety timbers or a gravity chute) go right ahead but that'll eat into your coal production and again, you only get paid for the coal. We learned about the mules, air shafts, child labor, sally doors, frogs, rats, canaries, and much more. In the area where you pay for your tickets, they also have a nice gift shop with very reasonable pricing, and a small snack shop. Tickets for August 2026 were $12 adults and a small discount for seniors and little children. My wife's pants dragged and now they're black with coal dust. This was a nice excursion to kill some time and we all learned a thing or two!
