Long-time fan, but disappointed with the new Italian combo portions…read more I've been coming here for years and have always loved the Italian combo grinder -- the bread is still fantastic (crusty outside, soft inside, just right), the long hot peppers pack that perfect kick, and the overall flavor profile is still spot-on. The shop looks great after the recent updates under new ownership -- cleaner, brighter, more inviting space. That said, I was really let down on my first visit since the change. The grinder I got for lunch had noticeably less meat than before. What used to be a hearty, well-stacked sandwich with generous layers of cold cuts now felt skimpy on the protein -- probably about half (or less) the amount I was used to. The other components (cheese, veggies, hot sauce) were fine, but the lack of meat made it feel more like a veggie-heavy sub than the satisfying Italian combo I always counted on. Everything else was good -- friendly service, quick prep, fresh ingredients -- so I'm hoping this was just an off day or an adjustment period with the new team. I'd love to see the portions return to their old generous standard, because the foundation here is still strong. 2.5/5 stars from me right now. Still my go-to deli in the area, but I'll be watching to see if the meat comes back in full force. Keep up the great bread and peppers!

I believe the manager, then went up to the cashier, looked at the register and with an attitude said, well, we didn't charge you anyway! Shrugged her shoulders and walked away. I thought that to be rude, considering that we decided to go to them instead of McDonald's or Wendy's and we probably would've had a better breakfast. Everything necessary to conduct a modern life can now be purchased at Wal*Mart, Amazon.com, or Dunkin' Donuts. Little deli-markets in otherwise completely residential neighborhoods like this one simply have no reason for existence other than nostalgia and/or a marginal level of convenience. Yet they stay open. And I can't imagine someone is making big bucks in the cigarette/lottery ticket/off-brand donut sales business. They're probably doing it as a commitment to the community, for the love of the business, and a sense of pride. A cup of joe, a good bacon egg and cheese on a hard roll for three bucks, a donut with bacon on it, just because the maple frosting wasn't unhealthy enough. Fantastic. Price was not unreasonable, but was not a fan of $2 charge per "premium topping" like peppers. It appears this is turning from a strictly Italian Deli to something more than that under the new management. Not necessarily a bad thing, but there are so many signs and pictures of food in there, it was a bit overwhelming. I much prefer a smaller menu, but I am sure there are some that appreciate the variety. I'd certainly go back, but is it my favorite deli in the area? Not quite my favorite, but don't take that to mean it was bad.
