The location was very easy to find with a fairly big parking lot Inside of the place was clean and very spacious feeling. Their menu was simple but not in a bad way. It's mainly some appetizers, burgers, fries and a shake/drink For my lunch, I got Firehouse Burger and ir was a perfectly cooked medium rare. I got a side of fries but didn't hear they offered a medley which my wife got. I wish I got a shake but they give you so much food that I was full For an appetizer, we got the spinach artichoke dip. Although it was good, it was a little different than what I was used too. Overall, the food was delicious and I would return again if I am ever in the area.

Several staffers made a point of pausing at our table to greet them. A homey, welcoming restaurant with what appeared to be many, many tables and booths filled with "regulars". Many servers and the hostess knew our pals and called each other by name! The breakfast menu is generally standard fare. But be prepared!! The portions are beyond generous. I wish that I had chosen to share with my spouse. (((Food waste is a thing.))) My husband ordered a low carb meal. Sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs. Zero carbs. He enjoyed every bite. Perfect I ordered the skillet with FOUR over easy eggs, fried breakfast potatoes, peppers, onions, tomatoes and diced ham. Had I better read the menu, I would have DEFINITELY shared it! But trust me. It was OUTSTANDING! Carol and Chet ordered omelets with pancakes. Seems like THE go-to for them. They were not disappointed. I observed that this gem is the place to savor good food, lots of good coffee, deep conversations and much love and laughter. I wish that WE had a similar place in Indy, MO.

Let's be honest here: this is a diner in a small town, and as such should be considered according…read moreto those parameters. But by any standards of dinerdom, the Muscatine is tops. We came with a huge party of out-of-towners after a wedding the night prior, and were well-accommodated with a smile. I had NY Strip w/ 3 eggs over medium and hashbrowns, my sweetheart had the veggie omelet, and another friend ate French toast. All were perfectly acceptably delicious, and to my surprise, my steak came out as medium rare as I'd ordered it. How often does a diner get rarish steak right?! I also appreciated the option of American fries (neither French nor Freedom) instead of hashbrowns, though I didn't take it. The French toast was eggy and delicious, looking and tasting pre-buttered (if you think that's bad, you don't know nam), and the veggie omelet was packed full of fresh greens, oranges, whites, and reds. But the real reason to come to the Muscatine is the service. Mr. Wonderful is the cheerful face that makes the place sparkle, and there's a framed front-page article from the local gazette to prove it. He cheerfully inquires where everyone is from and informs you of various and sundry things in a nigh-impenetrable accent, smiling and refilling coffee from several feet in the air with nary a drop spilled. If you tell him when to stop filling, he admonishes you that he is a professional and with a wink, advises you that anyone can do it. His bright-eyed partner and hostess is far more understandable, and cannot fail to make the grumpiest grouch crack a smile. Whether it's amply adequate diner food or service with a smile, the Muscatine Family Style Restaurant is Muscatine's place to be. Especially if you're over 60 on a Sunday afternoon.
