I find this amusing. I live in San Fran now, grew up on the outskirts of NYC, and many European countries. Had planned some time off to spend up at my place in the Belgrade Lakes Area. Got snowed in at Philly so decided to drive up here last night. Jersey Mikes was open and I had a decent sandwich. Nothing to write home about but this is fast food. I frequent Mikes all over the country and find the food a lot better than McDonalds and while each franchise is owned by different people, the quality was the same as it was it other parts of the country. Maine..............Augusta..........One of the toilets in Maine like Lew? It's amazing how the ratings for this franchise are much lower than they are in the rest of the nation when the local food is probably the worst in the nation. Try getting a slice of pizza North of Hartford and it's a card bord box. Yes, Mass is not known for it's good food either. I believe it comes from Maine and Mass being very similar.........Irish, English and neither county is known for their food..........just saying........perhaps the people and not the food are the problem. Very strange people staring at me like a PA plate was from a different planet. I don't know where to start. I guess I will start with the store manager. He's is the biggest asshole I have ever encountered. Rude and belligerent to customers and the employees. When I mention something was wrong with my food his response was what do you expect we are fast food mistakes happen. I'm like I paid for a sandwich and I expect it to be to my liking. His response was than go some where else. The restaurant was not air conditioned. Rest rooms were dirty. The employees didn't seem to know what needed to be done. I've seen quite a few commercials about this restaurant and with my traveling friend they spoke highly of it . Thought it about time I gave it a shot. In a way I guess it's what I thought it would be, basically hand, sliced meats with choices of toppings, and seasonings. . Started with the choice of bread which was Parmesan cheese. There are three sizes of subs from which to choose from. I went with the 7" size. That was big enough. There were about 10 different sub types to choose from. I went with the turkey and beef. There's not many toppings to choose from. I went with your basic lettuce and tomato. I saw only two choices of seasonings which were oil and vinegar and mayo. Overall the sub was OK. You don't necessarily get a lot of meat or a lot of toppings. It tasted just fine. I guess all the hype build up didn't quite meet expectations. read more

Used the app for lunch time pickup. The long line that was there when I arrived went faster than the pickup order. I've been waiting over 35 minutes since time it was supposedly to be ready. Total disorganization. I would never order again during lunch hour or possibly again. There are 6 staff and the pickup line is outrageous. No one is helping the one guy putting the pickup orders together. A girl is standing around. I wish I could cancel my prepaid tip. Now they just told me my sandwiches are waiting to be wrapped. They are the ones on the end in photo. It's been an hour since I ordered. Finally got upset with the guy at front at said "can someone please wrap my sandwiches". The manager came up and refunded my order. (Ordered 11:57 am. Ready at 1:03). Now I'm late to work. Generally, the service has been good and sandwiches good. This place is not the same as it was when it opened. Clearly they brought in ringers from other stores because everything used to be great. I usually visit about once a week. The last three times I have visited it's been complete disarray. I understand it's hard to get new employees and they need to train on the job but it's not getting better it's getting worse. Twice I have been on weekend late afternoons and both times there were multiple staff standing around in the back while one staff member tried to keep up with customers in the store and to go orders. There is one girl who seems like she must be the shift leader trying to delegate but it seemed like the other employees were just blowing her off. As you can imagine this made it so my pickup order was half hour late the first time and twenty minutes late the second time. I literally would have gotten faster service had I walked in to order at the counter. That said the food was correct and still good I just don't expect picking up a sandwich to take an hour (20 minute order window and the half hour plus wait in the store after my pickup window). I thought maybe it was just the weekend so I decided to order pickup for lunch ordered for 10 thirty so should be pre lunch rush. It seemed a little better but I still had to wait after my pickup time that said there were already several people in the store and it seemed like staff was arriving when I was waiting. The disappointment in this visit though was that I ordered a salad and the guy making it clearly didn't know what he was doing and needs to be retrained. Instead of it being prepared like it's supposed to with the meat and cheese being rolled up and cut before being placed on the top so it can be eaten I literally got whole slices of meat and cheese layer down with a bunch of veggies on top like he was planning to make a sandwich and just removed the bread. Then proceeded to while mayonnaise over the top of the whole thing with a knife..... I'm honestly not even sure how to go about eating this right now. Honestly I don't usually leave reviews for anywhere. This time I felt like I should just to say thank you. They didn't have what I ordered, or my second choice but the compromise they made for me was more than adequate. I'm so grateful that they put so much care into my food. 10/10 recommend. Two stars because I usually love Jersey Mikes but this one location had the worst customer service. I order JM weekly, since they now have gluten free we are devoted customers. Stopping at the Augusta Maine location I had the worst experience. Ordered seven sandwiches, 5 gluten free, showed up to store a half hour after pick up time (traffic), no sandwiches. My wife asked the server who proceeded to tell us the order was picked up... no it wasn't. She then asked if we were sure someone didn't pick up our order... really? Would we have forgotten we picked it up? Ok, we are calm and asked if we could get new sandwiches made to fill our order that someone stole. Nope, not enough bread left (2 in the afternoon). We had to request a full refund, it wasn't offered. Terrible customer service. read more

Absolutely horrendous. I don't understand why this place is in business. The bread was horrible, the message received on the receipt was offensive. The only ingredient that tasted semi-ok was the shredded lettuce. Please learn about how a true Maine sub is made before you give us this nonsense of dryness and subpar ingredients. Food was good, however it felt super empty for a sandwich from there, I know I have had better sandwiches from Jersey Mikes before. The service was horrendous, stay away at all costs. I walked into the store while it was empty, crew was making a few call-in/ online orders and acted as if I was major inconvenience to them. The store did not feel welcoming and I knew for certain that it was the case when I left. Atmosphere felt tense, I would have rather gone anywhere else in Augusta to get better service. I gave up on this place months ago. They are always either out of something, or they forget to put it on the sandwich. I order the same sandwich every time, and the first two times, shortly after they opened in this location, it was great. Since then, I have given them at least a half dozen chances to make the sandwich correctly and they just can't seem to do it. It is a waste of money to consistently not get what you order. read more

$40+ dollars for TWO mediocre subs - Wanted tuna - they didn't have it. - Wanted a Roast Beef - didn't have that either. Order took FOREVER - The fountain drinks were flat and watery - virtually undrinkable. Staff was okay but teamwork there seemed a bit not existent, which is crucial in food service. I've got carry out from here several times.. My favorite sandwich is number 13, an Italian sub with various meats on it..I order it with double meat. I think all they put on it is extra ham.... It's ok..but when I order double meat- I expect all the meats to be doubled. read more

The location of this is quite convenient for a quick bite but the food is just alright. Depending on who's working you could end up with a poorly made sandwich or a great one. You get exactly what you'd expect from a chain sub place. People who work in there are always super nice. It does get kinda loud being the small space and somewhat open kitchen. read more

The young manager on was very loud and constantly picking on a young girl who was working very hard I think her name was Tyler. Told her she should quit and she didn't do anything. There is some kind of dysfunction going on at this Jersey Mike's. You may order ahead, but be prepared to wait an additional half an hour from the time they quote you to pick up your food. Obviously a bad place to work too since the crew openly talks about staff walking out or getting fired. Food is good, service is terrible. Went in for my pickup order... it said it was gonna take about 45 minutes, so I went in 45 minutes later. When I get in there the place is full of people eating and maybe two people in line. This poor kid waited 30 minutes to cash out and I waited another 45 minutes to get my pickup order because there pick up shelf was being used as there utility shelf... when I finally get someone to help me it was this old man that was the rudest person I had ever met and he was walking around all kinds of confused when I said " I'm here for my pickup order". The subs are very good, staff fine for the most part. Not everyone smiling. Coming from a food handling background, I am a bit concerned about hair covering. Most of the workers appear to know the code about keeping hair behind the ears and not hanging over food.
