We came as a group of 10 without a reservation. They still had lanes open around 4:00pm and we were able to get the two lanes together. After a hiccup, the second group was able to start bowling. The equipment seems in good shape. We had to ask the attendant to reset the lanes only twice. The timer is very inflexible so once you see the yellow screen it is best to hurry your game. It will cut off whether you are on the last player's second try. The food was decent. My group enjoyed the wings and I had the mozzarella sticks and a small slice of pizza. Pretty good for a bowling alley. The water tasted good. For ten people we spent $100.xx plus tax. It wasn't a bad experience at all. People of all shades playing and working. Came here for the 1st time & loved it! Really loved the prices. It was $30 for one hour which I think is very reasonable. What I really loved was the food. I was surprised at how good it was. I was expecting bad/small portion food but was so shocked. BLT had a nice amount of bacon, grilled cheese, chicken fingers, large fries & a large soda all for $20. You can't beat that. The bread was even delicious. Toasted perfectly with butter lol. It was your typical old school bowling alley with no updates but I love that! Brings me back to the 90's. read more

Great old alley, kind of expensive for small groups, cheap food that is hit or miss, mostly was a miss, a good time but for risking food poisoning with 2 kids and 2 adults for almost a hundred bucks, this cash cow needs a kitchen and cash register makeover. If you choose the 2 game flat rate of $70 for up to 6 people, only get the pizza and maybe coffees (or take a Lyft and hit the bar) its probably a better experience. The bowling was fine otherwise, decent lanes with programmable bumpers for each player, video screen scoring and a decent ball selection. Shoes were okay and the guy sprays them with disinfectant each time before you rent them (eeeew... but better than none). The pizza was crispy thick crust, saucy and really cheesy, not bad really and no available toppings from what I can tell from the incomplete menu displayed. The nachos terrible: bad quality liquid watery cheese just dropped on tortilla chips with none of the stuff you associate with nachos. There was a handwritten notice taped to the soda machine that fish was now available (I had seen the photos posted here of fried fish that didn't look half bad (but frying can cover up a whole lotta bad especially after reading the next paragraph you may not want to try your luck) Now the really bad part: the grilled chicken salad: ordered one and they didn't ask or serve it with dressing and when I asked for garlic for the pizza he dumped a whole lot on the salad instead... So my lady brings back some yellow stuff and some white stuff in small clear plastic cups (I had taken a few bites it was okay dry), the lady drops white stuff on the salad (Ranch dressing), and moments after she sounds like shes gonna wretch. Its rancid. Old. So I go back and they generously make another salad and I wrap it up to to go; In the car the lady takes a bite and... The chicken is bad this time: old. Not suitable for human consumption. So, to recap: check for discounts here if you want to bowl old school, maybe just get pizza and visit the bar to kill any unexpected bacterial hitchhikers, eat elsewhere before and after, or just visit a place like Stryxe where they have a kitchen that really makes an effort and worth the extra $$: and Yelpers need to appreciate what it looks like when a place actually makea an effort. Went during a weekday, on a day my brothers didn't have school. The place was full but luckily we didn't have to wait to get a lane. It was the usual process of paying up front and getting shoe rentals at the register. (You have to hold onto your own shoes.) It was $20 for a lane of 5 people including shoe rentals, what a steal! The place wasn't overwhelmingly loud like some bowling places I've been to. I also thought the lanes and bowling balls were pretty well maintained. Pretty pricey for a standard bowling alley like this one in Linden. I came here because I had to drop my bf to Newark Airport around 5:30, and we wanted to be in the area so we can avoid traffic. Bowlero would have been my next best choice but decided to give Jersey Lanes a shot. Luckily with a Yelp Check in, you get 1 free shoe rental, and even with that our total for 2 people came out to $21 for just 1 game. That's extremely pricey to be honest. After we put our names down on screen, the order of the turns were off (1st person got 3 turns in the 1st frame and 2nd person got only 1 turn), it made no sense. We had to go to the desk for service 3 times in the 20 mins that we were there. Ehh I wouldn't come back. Drive a bit further and just go to Bowlero at this point. read more

This was my go to bowling alley. Today's experience with this unfamiliar face, big built lady running the front made me not want to come back here ever again. She was rude from the start and full of attitude. Because there were reservations, we had to wait. We kindly told that lady that a group of girls left before their time was done. She rudely says "I know that because it shows in the system" clearly it did not because her coworker came down to the lane to check and confirm that they left. They took half an hour to figure out that their guests had left when we already told the front desk/ register. She also purposely ignored us. My friend asked for a size 5 in shoes but she said they only have size 6 and that they ran small and that they don't have size 5. That's impossible bc every time we went the guy working would give it to her. So my friend tried them on and they were way too big. She went back to ask for a size 5 and the lady gave it to her. Like what is this service. Next my other friend needed change for the vending machine and she straight up ignored her. She knew because she was the only one there and all that big built lady was doing was putting away shoes. Obviously she was being racist, because I don't see any other reason for this type of service since this unwelcoming and rude service was not given to other guests. THIS LADY HAS TO GO! I came today with my family and expected to have a good time but instead a wide built lady was super rude and seem to be a little racist towards my family. We were the only asians there and it seemed like we were the only one getting her disgusting attitude. Normally I always stop by and play here with my family whenever I'm near. The old guy that is normally there is always so helpful and nice. However, today this big build lady was working tonight. When I asked for a size 5 she said they only have a size 6 and that the shoe runs small. I tried it on and it was way to big on me, went back and told her it was too big. Is then reaches down for another shoe and gave me a size 5 when she told me before that they don't have a size 5. Later we wanted a drink from the vending machine. Retro looking bowling alley. Staff was nice. Place was clean. $60 for 4 people to bowl for 2 hours. Not a bad deal. We got about 4 games in. We kept having to reset the pins in between frames. I'm used to the bowling alley having music playing, especially during weekend nights. This one didn't. So it was kind of awkward when there was an lag in conversation & all you heard was silence and the bowling balls going down the lanes. Someone flagged my review for pointing out something blatant. My coworkers and I came here at 5:00 PM which was a good time to go because there were only 3 other people bowling at the time so the noise level was good. When checking into yelp you can get 1 free shoe rental! The prices are different before and after 6 PM (cheaper if you come before 6PM). The place was really clean and did not have any off stench to it. The people who work there were really nice and we ordered a party package of pizza, turkey wraps, fried food (onion, corn nuggets, ravioli). I think the ravioli was my favorite out of all the food! The pizza was really good too for bowling alley quality. They serve fresh salad as well and for a group of 12 people we had enough food and were able to take whatever leftovers we had back to the office. Awful place to go to. My group had purchased a Groupon to this place which included 3 games per person and $10 worth of food. We show up and have to wait 7 minutes to get our lanes. Once we arrive at our lanes, our scoreboard and lane are both messed up. We go to the front desk to have them fix the lane and they didn't. We decided to play the game regardless. Halfway through the game, they shut down our lane for absolutely no reason. We went to the front desk but the lane had been turned back on by then. Once again, during I believe the second game (?) our lane shut off. It came back on faster, though. Our deal had included 3 games per person, but we were only given 2, and had to go to the front desk to have our game extended to 3. The kids in our second lane had been using bumpers. Upon activating the bumpers, we noticed that it only raised one bumper, not 2. We never went to the desk to have that fixed, though. Since this deal included food, we decided to get food. We got chicken fingers and cheese fries, along with 3 Pepsi's. We were given ONLY 6 chicken fingers, 3 in each container. The chicken fingers were pretty bad, but not horrid. The cheese fries were alright, also. TL;DR: too many complications, underwhelming food, good time when no problems were present. Would I come back here again? Maybe. read more

The only reason we went here cause cause Linden lanes had an hour wait and brunswick lanes was too far. First off, the guy kept ignoring us when we wanted to put our names down for 2 lanes. I think they need to hire more people. The desk was always crowded and it was annoying. Everything else was pretty standard. They have a bar and some food. I had some fries and they were okay. Ive been going here for years with my kids, even had one of their birthday parties there but last time I went with my 2 boys, my friend, and her two kids one of the workers ran to the back, im assuming there was a bowling ball stuck?? well as he was running he pushed my son and knocked him on the ground. I got furious and confronted him when he came back out, the assistant manager came out and quickly apologized for his employee (as the employee yelled at me and blamed my son). Bowling is somethign I used to do often in High School. Team mates and I would let loose after a long week of practice, it's a fun way to relax and a great way to compete in a casual atmosphere. I came here on a whim one Friday a couple months ago. It was late and I did not feel like spending the night in the house or going out and spending to much money. My boyfriend lives rather close so we decided to head over and bowl a few games. The parking lot is big and accomodating. Inside is the same. The decor is a little dated and dark ( dark carpeting, dark wood paneled walls ) but it's everything you would expect from a bowling alley. There is no fancy, cosmic bowling or neon balls but there are plentyof lanes and seating. There are lockers for you to store things and a locker room near the restrooms. What I do like is that highly advanced to novice bowlers come to play here. There are league nights which are actually fun to watch and the front desk does the best it can to accomodate any size party within a reasonable amount of time. Prices arent bad at all but it does jump up during weekends. There is a seperate bar area that is stashed with TV's and sports paraphanelia. The bartenders are always pleasant and can even dole out decent recomendations on beers and mixed drinks if you ask. behind the bar area, at the back of the alley is a grill station. They serve typical bowling alley food ( hot dogs, burgers, nachos ) along with cheesesteaks ( pretty decent ) chees fries, chicken tenders etc. Please be aware, they do NOT serve pizza. I get a little bummed about it at times but am always satisfied with whatever I opt for instead. The lanes are well maintained, as well as the seating and bowling balls. I've had the opportunity to talk to the front desk staff, and alley staff and I am always so appreciative of how friendly and genuine they have been with me. I also like how diverse the crowd is here. It always adds to the energy of the place and even your game. That first Friday turned into every Friday for about 3 months, then some Saturdays and once or twice a Wednesday night. read more

I havent been to Jersey Lanes in ages , but I am happy i decided to give it another shot. The alley is very big. There is space for everyone. We came here on a Tuesday night. There were a few people there bowling. Some were in leagues others were just playing for fun. We went with my wife's cousin and our daughter. The place was more than helpful accommodating us. We went on a day where it was 50 cents to play a game. It was awesome because we had a great time playing. The shoes were those ugly bowling shoes but they were comfy. The guy at the front yesterday at 6:30 told me that none of the lanes were open until 8 and I found out from a fellow bowler that the lanes are open on the other side of the alley and the other side is for leagues .
