This was SUCH great down home country cooking. The kind you get at Mamaws house. The little restaurant is a cute country style place with great service. The food was delicious. We were there around Easter and had their Easter dinner of roast beef and mashed potato's. I think next time chicken fried chicken !! read more

We stopped for dinner and we were pleasantly surprised.The five stars is mostly based on the amazing rolls, chicken fried steak and catfish! Ambiance is kitschy, but fits this diner. Service was excellent. The food is true comfort food and delicious Areas for improvement are the mashed potatoes and coleslaw. They are fine, but pale in comparison to the other items on the menu. The Chicken fried steak and the rolls will have us stopping here again. These two items are soooo good you could build a franchise on them! Definitely worth your time, money and the drive. read more

We decided to stop here for dinner. I am so glad we did i ordered grilled chicken my salad was fresh and big. Husband ordered chicken fried steak it was big and had the perfect crunch. We will stop again when we head back this way read more

Went here for lunch with my boyfriend on a rainy day hoping for a nice warm meal and some friendly small town service. Thats not what I got. We ordered the lunch specials and were served the tiniest chicken fried steaks I've ever seen. (Yes I know lunch specials are smaller portions but this was SMALL) the food itself was pretty good aside from the portion size. The service is where I was super disappointed. My boyfriend and I watched one server refill all her tables drinks TWICE while my cup sat on the table empty the whole meal. We also did not get rolls until we asked, again the other waitress brought them to her other tables when she brought drinks. Then when the cake that came with our lunches was coming my boyfriend and I decided we wanted our to-go, something we would've told the waitress if she was ever at our table, and then she quite literally rolled her eyes when I asked her to bring me a to go box for it. So then after our food is completely packed up, I'm sitting there with no drink, and we've gathered up our belongings...we sit there for a good ten minutes waiting for the check. Eventually we had to ask another waitress to go get ours so we could pay and leave. Just really really horrible service from this girl. It's clearly not the whole place though since we watched another waitress take great care of her tables. read more

"Delicious Food, Great Atmosphere, and Something for Everyone!" We had such a wonderful experience at Jerry's Restaurant in Onalaska, TX! I ordered the catfish po' boy, and it was incredibly fresh -- the bread was soft and flavorful, and the tartar sauce on the side was perfect. We also enjoyed a basket of warm biscuits with their white country gravy, and let me tell you... amazing. I couldn't resist ordering the fried green tomatoes (because I love them), and they did not disappoint -- crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My husband got the chicken fried steak, and of course I had to try a bite... it was excellent. Our two picky eaters gave their full approval to the jumbo burger and popcorn chicken, which says a lot! The atmosphere was great, the service was friendly, and everything came out hot and fresh. I grabbed two slices of pie to go, and even after running errands, they held their shape perfectly -- and tasted just as amazing when we finally got home. Very patriotic place! Filled to the brim with red, white and blue decor. Serving up good ole American favorites for breakfast like grits delicious) and eggs and some awesome loaded hashbrowns with cheese, sour cream and fresh chives. If your sweet tooth is calling, you can't get more American than apple pie! Jerry's has a selection of beautiful pies in lots of flavors, including my fav, coconut cream (heavy on the meringue, please). The large chicken fried steak with gravy is more than one can eat. Just ask for more gravy on the side for no charge. The service is fast and fantastic. Get there early. They get swamped. I've had this dinner three times within six months. read more

Very good! Only complaint is they charge an extra 1.50 for rye toast, that seems a little steep, but I always enjoy a visit.

No we don't recommend anyone dining at this restaurant. I don't make money to waste it on disgusting food. My husband went into the restaurant at around 4pm on Friday, November 22nd and bought 2 orders of egg rolls, 1 order of onion rings, coconut pie and cheesecake. The egg rolls were burnt. Too burnt to cut through and definitely disgusting to eat. The onion rings were soggy. It all got thrown away in the trash. The cook must have been pissed off at someone to serve up that awful mess. I called the restaurant to try to discuss with the manager. Someone answered with a very quiet hello and I asked for a manger. He said he wasn't in and asked if I wanted to leave a message. I asked when he would be in and the person responded that he didn't know. I said "okay, I guess I'll have to leave a bad review". This establishment will not be stealing any more of my hard earned money. read more

Small town restaurant so we weren't expecting much. The ribeye and filet were pretty good! The "hostess" seated us and I asked what they had to drink. The usual Coke, tea or other drink choices were offered. No mention of wine choice or any other alcoholic beverage. So I ordered lemonade and my wife ordered tea. Upon looking around I see a sign with a few wine choices and alcoholic beverages. Asked for a merlot with my steak. Chilled upon serving the wine?! Red wine? I'm sure the waitstaff is used to beer with whatever is served. The steak was ummmm ordered medium rare to be safe. You be the judge by the picture. I will say that the steaks were perfectly seasoned and tasty. Maybe because we showed up at eight on a Saturday? Not sure but for a little itty bitty town they were pretty okay. This is the 3rd consecutive time I've gotten food from Jerry's that had absolutely no seasoning in their food. There's literally no flavor in anything from their fried catfish, to their shrimp po boys, to their chicken fries steak sandwich. And take a look at this picture, there's like only the smallest smidgeon of white gravy on top, couldn't even taste the gravy, one, because no seasoning, and two, because of the lack of presence in the 1st actual place. Service is slow and inattentive, takes me usually five minutes from walking in the drop to being acknowledged by any staff. Definitely deserves this half star rating. read more

Popped in after a long day of travel with a large group, and they accommodated us well. They have all you can eat catfish on the weekends that everyone said was absolutely amazing and our waitress, Gerri took good care of us. My family and I had dinner here today & it was amazing!!! This place is MUST if you are in the area! The homemade cornbread and rolls were out of this world!!! We ordered the catfish plates, which were tasty, fresh, and well battered. The chicken fried steak plate was massive! There are so many good sides to choose from & they have awesome appetizers. I highly recommend the boudin balls! The employees were all so kind & provided excellent service. We will definitely be making another trip out there for dinner again soon. read more
