5 stars for Jerry's Cafe in Rockford. This is a nice breakfast & lunch cafe in Rockford with some classic breakfast and lunch dishes with some Mexican dishes as well. I tried the Corned Beef Hash Skillet and the Shrimp & Grits - both were very good and big portion sizes that will definitely fill you up. The service was good, the place inside has plenty of seating but just know that it can get very busy on weekend days. Overall, a nice place to stop for a meal for breakfast or lunch. read more

We decided to try this place due to the reviews on yelp. The parking lot was packed and so was the restaurant inside. Inside sort of had lunch cafeteria vibes. We were sat quickly which was nice. Then we waited, and waited, and waited... probably 10 minutes went by before anyone checked on us. We started looking online for somewhere else to go because we didn't expect to ever be served. Around the 10 minute mark for waiting the hostess came over and took our order. I'm assuming she saw how frustrated we were. My daughters ordered their kids breakfast and I got eggs Benedict. Food was fine. No complaints but also nothing special. Breakfast cost us around $42 with tip. We most likely won't return. Too many places that have better food, service, and prices. read more

We dropped in for a breakfast / lunch mashup. My wife wanted her breakfast, I wanted lunch. Go figure. We were promptly greeted and seated in the restaurant. The waitress was quick to come by and get drink orders, and provide us with menus. Looking around the place, which is in a slight recess in the strip mall, it looks like your typical non-chain restaurant. It has signs on the wall, some warmer colors, and you can see the kitchen from the dining area. My wife went with the Full Farmers Market Benedict breakfast. She really liked the hash browns and eggs. I went with their Classic Cheeseburger. It was supposed to be served with 2 sides per the menu, so I ordered fries and soup. The soup came - but no fries. My wife was waiting for her coffee to be refilled. My root beer never got a refill. The burger was pretty good - the waitress asked me how I wanted it cooked, and I said medium rare, but it came close to well-done. So mixed bag here. The restaurant was full of older locals - we were almost the youngest people in there, and we aren't young. The prices may be part of that, breakfast, lunch, with two drinks, for around $32. read more

My boyfriend had a burrito that was absolutely microwaved. the fruit looked like it had been sitting in the fridge...for days. I had the pancakes with strawberry mascarpone. The blueberry were thawed from being frozen; the strawberries were old and mushy, and the mascarpone was premade. Nothing is fresh!!! Not to mention the lack of cleanliness. the floors were sticky and everything was outdated. the service would've been fine if the server actually came back and checked on us. we had to get up and ask her for the tab... Don't let the exterior aesthetic scare you off. Although located in a lifeless strip mall, Jerry's is teeming with excellent staff, happy customers, and delicious breakfast dishes! I really enjoyed our waitress who was helpful, efficient, and kind. I also loved the food which was extremely fresh and tasty--the hash browns were piping hot in a good way! My table ordered a skillet and Benedict, both of which were delicious. As for the ambiance, the outside is unassuming, but once inside the vibe is cozy and enjoyable. This little Gem of a restaurant makes me wish I lived closer! Thanks to Yelp I was directed to Jerry's while passing through Rockford and was not disappointed. They have a large menu and we settled on a chicken avocado sandwich, eggs with biscuits and gravy, and an asparagus skillet add bacon and some GF toast. (GF TOAST!! They have a whole page of GF options!! So nice not to have to ask!!) I had read they had homemade salsa and asked for some spicy to add to my skillet. We were not disappointed at all! The servings were all large and fabulous. The salsa was nice and spicy - a bit of a bite but not overwhelming to the taste of the food. I loved all of the veggies in my skillet - not only asparagus (which was cooked to a perfect al dente), but some red pepper and fresh spinach placed so it "cooks" onto the skillet - the eggs were perfect. The most overlooked item was the preserves! Fruity goodness not overly sweet - wonderful! It's apparent the chef in the kitchen really knows food! been coming here for a while until they started over charging my food. i was overcharged 8 dollars on a order that was supposed to be 13.17$ but i was charged 21.17$ for one item. service was never great but it was nothing to complain about. i would recommend coming here if you want them to take a little extra money to support there struggling business. read more

Our server was very attentive to our table & ensured we kept getting refilled with our beverages. From the reviews, I've heard the portions were pretty big for the price & they were right! My friend even got a half sandwich with soup & salad & her half sandwich was like the size of a whole sandwich. I ended up playing it safe & getting the traditional breakfast & it was more than enough. My other friend couldn't even finish her meal & the plan was to share the French toast. The group of kids working the weekends tends to huddle up at the food window and it leaves guests waiting for drink refills. Nothing really stood out to me but their variety gives them an extra star. I ordered chilaquiles with chicken expecting the shredded stuff and it ended up being the pre-cut processed stuff you buy in a frozen bag and reheat so that was a bummer because the rest was decent.
