Seriously probably the most painless (both during and after) root canal I've had. I didn't even need Advil. Not once. :) Highly recommend.

Today I had my root canal done, and I highly recommend seeing to Dr. Cho - you will not be disappointed. It's hard enough knowing you have to have a root canal so going to someone you trust is so important. Dr. Cho's bedside manners immediately put me at ease from his down-to-earth way of interacting with me while clearly being very knowledgable about the complexities of performing root canals. For me, this is the perfect balance I always hope to find in a provider - personable and professional, but sometimes easier said than done to find that perfect fit. During the root canal procedure, I was much calmer than I had expected. After ensuring I was fully anesthetized, he talked through every step of the procedure. His assistant, Cecelia, was fantastic too, and they are a great team as she is on standby for him during the entire procedure. Then tonight, he took the time to call me to check to see how I was feeling. Wow. I thought these 'after-procedure calls' typically happen after having major surgery so it just spoke to his attentiveness and care for his patients. If I ever need another root canal in the future, I will definitely go back and see Dr. Cho. And, the team working the front desk are professional, helpful and friendly!

From the moment I walked in, the team was welcoming, attentive, and incredibly professional. The office was clean and comfortable, and I was seen right on time -- sometimes even earlier than expected! After my cleaning, Dr. Tsai took the time to listen to my concerns and explain every step of my treatment. I never felt rushed -- the team always ensured I understood my options and what to expect, asking if I had questions or concerns along the way. This level of communication made me feel very confident and informed about my care. During my procedure, the dentist and hygienists were gentle and meticulous. They checked in frequently to make sure I was comfortable and relaxed, which was incredibly reassuring. I genuinely appreciated how they made me feel safe and well-cared-for throughout the entire visit. The staff also went above and beyond with follow-up care and scheduling, making it easy to book routine cleanings and future appointments. It's clear this practice values long-term relationships with patients and prioritizes high-quality care. And when I needed my records sent to a specialist, they didn't hesitate -- they sent them the same day, which really impressed me. Who does that? I highly recommend this dentist to anyone looking for top-notch dental care! Whether it's routine cleaning, cosmetic work, sleep apnea appliance, and/or more involved procedures, you won't regret coming to Dr. Tsai. My family and I have nothing but positive experience since coming to Millbrae Dental Care!

PLEASE READ PRIOR TO COMMITTING TO THIS DOCTOR. Just like the other reviews have mentioned - this…read moredoctor is a scammer, disrespectful to her patients, and extremely unprofessional. I paid $175 out of pocket for another 3D x-ray to "locate my nerves," only for her to end up extracting one wisdom tooth instead of 2. She claimed that she couldn't take out my impacted wisdom tooth that has been causing me pain and took out the tooth that wasn't causing ANY ISSUES... told me I need to pay almost $800 for this ONE extraction. I asked to be referred to another doctor to take out the bottom tooth or if she could take it out and she told me I need to go back to my dentist for this referral. She also said " You need to be nice to the doctors or they won't take out the tooth for you." She then took it even further and blamed me for not getting my wisdom teeth, extracted earlier/ in my teens - stating that my bones are too hard and it's too difficult for her to take out my impacted tooth. Anybody with common sense knows that as we age, our teeth grow and bone hardens. As a former medical sales rep, I saw right through her tactics and sending patients to get another 3-D x-ray is all a referral network for her and the x-ray business to make more $$$. PLEASE GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE for your safety and sanity! She continuously interrupts patients when they are trying to speak or ask clarifying questions, and uses a bunch of anatomical filler words to try to make herself seem smart smarter than she is. Do not come here!!!!!!

Dr. Yu grabbed a piece of gauze, pulled something out of my mouth, looked at it for 30 seconds and said a tooth fragment left from my wisdom tooth extraction was irritating my gums and causing them to be unhealthy. For context, the wisdom teeth came out 15-20 years ago and numerous dentists over the years were not able to figure this out. I've even been told that I may just have bad gums and tooth loss in the future are possibilities. Pretty wild Dr. Yu was able to figure this in 2 brief visits when nobody else was able to solve this for the last 15-20 years.

During each of my visits Dr. Yu and his staff would push for an X-ray. I have disclosed that I am physician myself and I do not like to take or have taken X-rays without clinical indication. On my last visit (03/2024) Dr. Yu and his team tried again to force me to agree to an X-ray. I was told if I don't have an X-ray taken I cannot come to this dentist office again. He will basically kick me out. I repeated that I am physician and have zero indication for an X-ray. To prove his point, he took what felt like the metal handle of one of the instruments and hammered on each and every tooth of mine. This was very uncomfortable, but zero pain. He was firm that he won't accept me as patient if I don't have an X-ray taken. I have attached a summary of the guidelines from the American Dental Association (ADA) and the guidelines are very clear: 1) there is no fixed recommended frequency 2) as low as reasonably achievable 3) based on findings from patient history and clinical examination So, NO! based on ADA guidelines I do not need an X-ray. Instead of following ADA guidelines, Dr. Yu follows his financial guidelines and wants me exposed to unnecessary X-rays just to cash in. I can't recommend this dentist at all!
