I've had 2 root canals from Dr. Wilkinson in the past, and both procedures went well. No pain. He has light hands from the very beginning of i injecting anesthesia up to the end of theprocedure. Today I had to go to check if one my tooth can be saved again. He took the time to properly evaluate and decide on what's best for me long term. We end up not proceeding for RC after all factors have been considered. He explained to me my options and the visit ended with me well informed of what to do next. The visit was pleasant. The office personnel, Darlene, was very helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process of scheduling and getting all the information, including forwarding to the next dental specialist. Dr. Wilkinson likes to do small talks. He has fun stories to share. Same with all the past visits I had in the past. Their office is also nice and clean. It was festive today because of the holidays. What are the two scariest words in dentistry to a patient? ROOT CANAL! This is one of those Yelp reviews you hope you never have to write! The office is at 877 West Fremont Ave, Suite B-2 since 2016, when it moved from Knickerbocker ave. Darlene, the receptionist, wanted payment right away, in case you have a second thoughts about undergoing the dreaded, excruciating painful procedure! Delta dental insurance covers all but $187.20 of the $1334 procedure. You definitely want dental insurance if you are going to have a root canal! Dr. Wilkinson is 52 year old Southern gentleman, smiling and reassuring, making sure I don't freak out and rush out the door. After all a lot of money is at stake here! He takes some x-rays of the affected tooth itself, the upper right canine, and shows me the area on the upper portion of the tooth, where the potential infection needs to be cleaned out. He lower the chair down to a horizontal position -no restraint straps needed to tie down a struggling victim! Dr. Wilkinson cleans my gums around the affected tooth, and numbs the gum area. This was the most painful part of the procedure, and it wasn't much worse than a pin prick, except that it was on the roof of my mouth. He starts the procedure using a Zeiss mobile platform arm mounted microscope -$14,000 on e-bay- wearing blue surgical masks. Yes, things starting to look scary around here! Some patients fall asleep during the procedure, but I'm not so lucky. I'm wide awake, and my eyes wide open, in terror, awaiting the dreaded painful operation. First he positions a rubber dam over the entire area to catch tooth fragments and blood, and keep the mouth open. Open wide! Next he tries to remove the temporary crown, first with his hands, and then with some dental pliars. Careful there, don't want to break the plastic crown. That baby is stuck in tight -no worries about flossing in that area, and clipping the temporary crown out. Dr. Wilkerson hasn't done a temporary crown since 1992, and he's not about to find out! Then he takes a instrument with sharp point, for the drilling, right through the temporary plastic crown. I shut my eyes, anticipating excruciating pain! No pain but the sound of the drilling was like that of a power saw going through wood, a terrible scraping sound, with the smell of burnt plastic. Next was a long wired dental file to scrape all the decayed or infected tooth tissue and inflamed tooth root area. It felt like someone was filing on my teeth -again no pain. Finally he filled in the excavated area with a melted plastic to fill the hole in the temporary plastic crown. Mouth is numb around the affected tooth, making drinking, let alone eating difficult. Next time eat a huge meal before the operation, as it takes 6 hours for numbness to go away. Afterwards I can chew on steaks, corn on the cob, or apples, with that temporary crown as embedded as gray hairs on my head! Meanwhile have to keep nose from dripping and mouth from drooling on the affected numb side of my face. Had my first root canal in 2013 at age 61. Another one in 2016, and then a third in 2019. See what you people have to look forward to in old age! Can't wait for 2022! Things could be worse. If the tooth was fractured, the only option is extraction. Last thing one needs is a nice big gap in your front teeth whenever you smile, just like Michael Strahan! And if you think root canals are costly, check out the $4,000 cost of implants, not covered by insurance, to fill in that gap! That's a bigger hole in your wallet than in your teeth! read more

This review is not for the doctor, but for the billing office. My husband saw the doctor back in November, 2018. Fast forward to 7/29/2020, we receive a phone call from a collection agency. It seemed like a scam. They could not give us any details on what was owed except the amount of $700+. The agent said they did not have an invoice, and will send a request for one. I then called our old insurance company who could not find any charges with the amount requested. (turns out i called our medical insurance and it should have been dental, but we did not know what it was so we did not know. They thought it must have been a scam too) Fast forward again to today, 10/1/20, my husband gets an email from Credit Karma showing that there was a collection filed against him and his score dropped 50 points! Now we were able to see that it came from this office. I called the office and of course they said they can not talk to us and we had to call collections. Collections said that on the day they called back on 7/29, they put the request to receive an invoice from the doctor, but never heard back. Collections also dropped the ball by not following up with the office, nor calling us either. To the office.. You never sent us a bill. If you did, we did not receive it. Dave's score was well over 800 which means we pay our bills. We would never not pay. You are also charging us over $100 for sending to collections. We would like that money back. We paid collections today, and they will rescind the report to the agencies, but the damage is done. Also, what happened to picking up the phone and calling my husband if you don't receive payment? 5 star for the doctor, Dr wilkinson is absolutely amazing. I was super nervous going in since it's my first root canal procedure and Dr wilkinson's skill is top-notch didnt feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure, also provide me with a lot of incredibly useful suggestion! only 3 star is because of the billing office. My claim finished process on December 12th and there is an overpayment, which is not a big issue. The ISSUE IS, A month later, despite calling the office multiple times, and darlyn promised would send the cheque and give me a response as soon as possible after they received they cheque. I checked with my insurance company and it turns out the cheque is cashed on Jan 4th which is 2 weeks ago. and I get absolutely nothing in my mailbox or a call regarding the status of the cheque. insurance company called and they didnt pick up. Dr. Don Scott is amazing! I have anxiety and stress whenever I visit dentists. I also gag a lot which stresses me further, so I had been postponing my root canal for 10 years. Until recently I had to, had to go for it. My dentist recommended Dr Don Scott and she was 100% right. He did his job very well. He was talking with me through whole procedure which calmed me down, I didn't even feel a thing, no pain for injections or the process. The BEST part, he finished the procedure under 20 mins - this includes the numbing, actual process and filling. No feeling of gag, nervousness or stress. I definitely recommend him if you have any situation like me. Darlene is also great! She was very kind and prompt about the appointments, meds and the prescription. She is very friendly. read more

Dr Don S Wilkinson is likely one of the best Endodontist in Northern California. How do I know? My dentist, who is an hour away and didn't even know Dr. Wilkinson, kept commenting on how beautiful his root canals were. She told me 3 different times as if she couldn't believe how perfect they looked on the ex-ray. I think that it is because Dr. Wilkinson works under this microscope that most doctors don't invest in, so he can be very precise. He did 2 for me on the same day (retreats) and I think it was harder on him to do two at once then on me. I didn't feel a thing during or after. Dr. Wilkinson will make you feel comfortable and he knows how to get you numb so that you don't feel a thing during the procedure. Everyone's pain thresholds are different, but I didn't really feel a thing. The worst part is just having to hold your mouth open, so if that's the worst part, than it can't get much better. Darlene, his office manager, is also one of the nicest people that you will ever meet. If you need a root canal, go to an endodontist. They specialize for a reason. read more

Don is a great endodontist. He's a real conversation starter and is overall very friendly and appeasing. I came in for 2 procedures involving​ a root canal, as it was my first time having this type of procedure done, I was a bit anxious and wasn't sure about the level of pain I was going to be experiencing. Despite that, Don made sure of everything going smoothly throughout​ the procedure, and it really felt like he knew what he was doing without causing​ any real discomfort or pain. I was also very interested in what he had to say about an assortment of things and overall it made the whole experience​ pleasant and quick. I can actually say now that getting a root canal isn't all that bad, and it probably more pleasant in the hands of someone who cares and knows how to handle patients such as Don. Not that a root canal can be a 5-star experience, but Dr. Wilkinson and his staff made it as painless as possible. Dr. Wilkinson's office staff (Darlene) contacted my insurance company promptly to make sure the procedure was covered and how much my out of pocket expense would be. She was pleasant and cheerful in all my dealings with her. Dr. Wilkinson was very patient and understanding of my extreme anxiety and claustrophobia, explaining what he was doing during the procedure and about how long each segment of the treatment would take. Post procedure, I am pleased to have experienced only a minimal amount of discomfort that was relieved with a couple of over-the-counter ibuprofen. If I need a root canal in the future, or if I had to refer a friend or family member, I would recommend Dr. Wilkinson without hesitation. If your dentists refer you to Dr. Wilkinson, please do NOT go, and ask them for another doctor. I want to share my negative experience so that people are cautious when dealing with Dr. Wilkinson's office staff. Dr. Wilkinson's office submitted my dental claim more than a year late to the insurance company, and the insurance company rejected it as it's considered "expired". The office then sent my balance to collection despite me calling the office several times to explain that it's their fault. They would have gotten the money from insurance company had they filed on time; it's NOT because the procedure was not covered by my insurance. It caused my credit score to drop more than 100 points, plus another $100 in overdue interests on top of the balance (that they could have gotten paid by the insurance company if they filed on time.) read more

My complaint to the Dental Board and I'm just getting started: "The situation at the center of my complaint was that my dental insurance was purposely trying to avoid providing me emergency dental care for 3 months until finally the DMHC ordered them to authorize out-of-network care. As a result of the long wait my tooth became infected/broken, I lost wages from going to multiple failed appointments, paid for numerous consultations that were unable to treat me, and I suffered significant pain while racing the clock to save my tooth before it had to be extracted from irreversible damage. The endodontist who had the most trouble and the most contact with my insurance was the first specialist I saw in my long journey to find treatment. All of my interactions with this office besides my exam with the specialist was with his employee Darlene. I went in for my consultation, paid for what I was told was my portion, and was told that I could proceed with treatment as soon as the insurance sent an authorization. For the following 4 weeks Darlene and myself made countless phone calls to the insurance to obtain this authorization. When I would check in with her, she always had to check her "notes" to relay the most recent update of her communications with my insurance. At the end of these four weeks I was finally told by Darlene that no authorization would be possible since they are not even in my network being that my plan is HMO and they only treat PPO. Something that is definitely a mistake on my insurance's part for sending me there, but it was also a huge error on my provider's office because they were given my insurance card which they have an obligation to review at my first appointment and had "HMO" clearly typed on the top of my card. I was not offered a refund for my consultation appointment or even an apology for them allowing me to go through this due to them not verifying in the first place. After being referred to multiple providers who could never offer the treatment I needed I finally contacted the DMHC to expedite my treatment and I knew that I was going to seek damages against my insurance in court once the DMHC published their findings that my insurance grossly failed their obligations. In the first week of August I started requesting all of my records from each provider involved in the failed attempts. When I called Darlene to ask that she provide all of my records I asked her if she could make sure to include all of her notes pertaining to the calls between her and my insurance which she replied would be no problem. When I asked her about how detailed the notes were, she replied that the details of each and every call were documented in detail which I was excited about getting to prove how difficult my insurance was. I did ask her to insert a single sentence at the end of the notes summarizing why I ended up not being treated by that office which she also agreed to do. For two weeks I checked in continuously by phone to find out when I should be expecting them, and I was repeated told that they were being worked on as if I would be getting a number of documents. Finally, I was sent only 3 papers that were supposed to be all of the records considered part of my file. One was a payment transaction log and a receipt for my consultation co-payment along with an ex-ray with one sentence about how I needed tooth repair. I called her asking about the notes and now she claimed that there were never any notes and that we never had a conversation about it. She was blatantly lying, and I believe that the reason was because she decided that she didn't want to be involved in any kind of complaint process. Not only do I vividly remember discussing the existence of notes, but dental offices documenting their interactions with insurances is an industry standard. There are 11 different reviews of patients online sharing similar experiences with the front office employee Darlene that I have included in this complaint as attachments, complaining about illegal billing practices by duplicating or adding illegitimate charges, charging patients for contractual write-offs or for costs already covered by the insurance, pressuring patients to pay out of pocket saying insurance won't cover when the insurance is still processing claim, lying to patients about benefits, refusing to return messages to anyone requesting a refund or billing review, always saying that the accountant is out or that the fax isn't working, refusing to accept certified letters from patients seeking to resolve an issue, extremely inappropriate collection activity, refusing to let anyone speak to the doctor or give him messages, and telling patients that there is no one above her when they ask for a superior to complain about Darlene's behavior. I went to Dr. Wilconsin for a root canal on 8/19/2016 but the doctor checked my teeth and did not operate because 'he did not have enough time that day'. He got me another appointment for 8/26/2016 but the dental assistant 'Darlene' charged me $350 on my credit and told me that I don't need to play next time. When I arrived on 8/26/2016, he operated on my teeth and completed the procedure. Later in Jan 2017, I received a denied claim request from Delta Dental and on further investigation, I realized that the Doctor has charged me for 2 diagnostics test both on 8/19 and 8/26 while only one was performed and on top of that they also charged me $350 that do not equal to any of my claim charges. Upon speaking to the Delta Dental representative on the phone, he explained that the Dentist is doing something clearly fishy since the second claim for 8/19 was only filed in Jan 2017, many months later after the treatment and they charged the insurance company 2 times for a similar procedure for the SAME TEETH. He asked me to resolve this directly with the Doctor's office and suggested if they don't respond with a solution, I should file a claim. Since then I have spoken to 'Darlene' at least 6 times and each time I was promised that the problem will get resolved. Initially, she kept saying that there was no problem and the money charged was correct but when I kept explaining the situation and told her that I have my credit charges and the claims in front of me she started to agree that there 'could' be a problem with billing. Since then, she has given excuses like they have moved offices and the finance person is still working on my bills, etc but has never gotten back to me yet (been over 45 days since I first called). At this point, their phone does not work and I am unable to get in touch with them. I want this situation resolved ASAP and get my refund for the extra money I was charged. Just to make it clear, they charged me $350 on my credit but the claim is only for $104 on 8/26. They have claimed another diagnostic procedure for 8/19. Why are they trying to cheat patients and insurance companies. The worst thing is that they would have gotten away with it if my claim was not rejected (which they filed 2 times for the same service). Bad management. Bad service. Please help me. read more

Doctor Wilkinson is THE #1 highly recommend if need to have root canal done! May'2020 visit were pleasant due to doctor Wilkinson's professionalism and kindness. The root canal procedure took less than 25 mins and no need of post surgery medication. Dr Wilkinson is experienced, patient and informative. They explained the surgery procedure fully to patient using video tape, which is pretty cool. I visited the office in early October and was told an insurance application would be filed for me to arrange for my surgery. When I called in early November since I didn't hear from this office again, the stuff told me my application was not filed until 10/27, and I need to wait another 4-6 weeks before I could make another inquiry. When I called again by end of November, she told me that it turned out my insurance company didn't receive her fax, and she had to re-submit from scratch. read more

Dr Wilkinson is the most personable dentist i've ever met, i don't really understand the negative reviews, but they all seem financial based. Before I even spoke with him, the receptionist had everything done. She outlined my copay versus the insurance coverage. Here's my story: I'm only in northern California for about 6 months for work. Prior to coming out here, I had multiple fillings done by my local dentist. The most recent one, never seemed to heal properly. It was sensitive to very hot or very cold, but i choked it up to needing extra time to heal. As a matter of fact, during the initial filling procedure, I could feel pings of pain as the dentist was drilling. Not fun. fast forward 2 months after the initial filling, and here I am in Sunnyvale. I bit down on something and saw stars. BAM. I needed to see someone ASAP, i couldn't go 6 months before first seeing my dentist at home in pain. I thought maybe with my symptoms of during the filling and after the filling was a mis diagnosis of a needed root canal. Someone referred me to a different office who offered me an appointment a month away in June. This was unheard of to me, I just needed 15 minutes of a dentists time to talk to me. The office referred me to Dr. WIlkinson, and although they don't usually come to the office on Saturdays, they needed to do paperwork anyway and could see me tomorrow. When I walked in, neither of them made me feel like I had forced them to be here. Especially even after Dr. Wilkinson calmed my fears (I don't need a root canal) did they make me feel like "oh great what a hypochondriac who wasted my Saturday morning." Which brings me to my next point. A lot of people in the medical profession would take advantage and say "Yep, you need a root canal. That will be $5000 please." Dr. Wilkinson did the opposite! He took x-rays of the tooth in question, showed me very thourougly WHY i was feeling ultra sensitivity and gave me a prescription for a flouride rinse. He even showed me how he knows i grind my teeth, something no other dentist has every talked to me about before. I had my root canal done by another general dentist but unfortunately got infection. Had Dr. Wilkinson performed a root canal retreatment. He is a good, trustworthy root canal specialist and his office is clean, with polite and helpful staff. Dr. Wilkinson is great at talking to patients and discussing treatments - he explained to me through problems I was having and recommended treatments without jumping to surgical procedures or high-cost solutions. He answered my questions and addressed my concerns with respect and kindness. During the retreatment, Dr. Wilkinson worked swiftly and skillfully. When all were done, he checked his work meticulously and made several adjustments before he was satisfied. Within couple days all my pain was gone and I had no discomfort anymore. I had my root canal performed by Dr. Wilkinson a month ago, and cannot express how happy I am with the service/treatment I received! I'm not sure about the few low-ratings (seems to be more of an insurance/logistical issue rather than the service itself), but can say with 100% confidence that Dr. Wilkinson's treatment is top-notch. This office accepts Blue Shield insurance and the payment/coverage process was seamless. I'm in the process of taking care of some neglected dental issues and this was my first root canal ever--needless to say I had some fear going into it. Let me say that during my root canal treatment there was literally ZERO pain, and I was in and out in the same amount of time (or faster!) than getting a simple cavity filled. About 35 minutes. Dr. Wilkinson was very polite/personable and took the time to explain what he was doing, how it would help, and exactly why a root canal was needed in my case--this made me feel great and I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Wilkinson is a lovely person and I am sure he is competent at numerous procedures. My own personal experience with them was that he did surgery on my jaw above an infected root canal. I kept waiting for the discomfort from the infection to clear up and it did not. Finally, 1-1/2 years later, I needed to go to another endodontist to do the job over. Before I had this new surgery done, I tried to set up a consultation with Dr. Wilkinson to explain the situation and he refused to see me - perhaps concerned about a malpractice suit. Worst experience ever by them and the dentist who did a refill. Little back story: I had to find a new dentist since my old dentist was 45 mins away. I went in for a check up was told they might do a filling, turns out it I need a root canal. Dentist recommended me this doctor. Mind you the doctor stated to me all the X-rays or what not will be sent to them. I just had to call and make an appointment. Not once told me I had to bring my referral paperwork. I was there I person while she contacted dr Wilkinson office and they were on the speaker phone. On the day of my root canal- I was 19 mins late my fault . Before hand I asked repeatedly if they got all the info n if they needed anything for me. I was told by staff of this doctor no no, we have everything and we will call after they contact my insurance company. The day off arrival I was told nothing was sent from my dentist - they took X-rays again n said they won't be able help me cos I was 10 mins late and they only scheduled me one root canal- mind you they took my co pay. I was bit irritated cos my tooth n guys are hurting me and they can't help me. Two days later- they emailed me saying they won't help me!! I am very picky on choosing dentists. When my dentist told me that I need root canal, I do intensive research by comparing dentist's diagnostic skill, the technical skills on performing root canal procedure professionally, chair manners and also how much he cares about the patients after the root canal if there is any question I will have. Dr Wilkinson is the best and i am very impressed that he explains every step during the treatment. I want to share my experience with anyone who needs root canal and it is really worthy to do the research and ask around my co-workers for their root canal experience. After root canal treatment in the morning, I am able to go back to work next hour and there is no pain at all and just like filling done. Wish I came to yelp and read this horrific comments about their practices before taking services from this Doctor. As such I have no complaints about doctor's abilities. That said, he does not know how to run the doctor office. He staff in particular Darlene is rude and make so many billing blunders. They do not know how to treat or respect their customers. I had similar billing issue. Work done in Dec 4, they did not submit claims until Jan. They sent a request to pay in Apr and 2 weeks later a final notice before forwarding to collection agent. After investigation with my Dental provide Aetna, I came know how the dentist office did not submit claims on time and my funds were redirected to other services and gone out of budget for the year and one service they have no way to pay them, hence forwarded to me. Issue is Aetna had to return their request multiple times, inaccurate data, inaccurate & invalid claims, very poor responses, etc. On top of it they asked me to pay additional charges, which are wrong. When I call them for details, the princes Darlene hung up on me while I was asking for why they waiting 5months before reaching out to me and said talk to insurance about it. Whilst all issue is around how they are managing the claims process and shady charges, etc. I also visited the Doctor office to see if I can speak with the Dr and resolve this issue. As expected Darlene denied access and took a note to Doctor. And the Doctor never called back. I'm going to wait for another week to see if they respond and resolve all billing issues. If not will directly submit all proofs to Consumer protection bureaus, relevant to Dental department. My advice, find another doctor office who respects you as individual and do not perform shady financial practices. read more

I didn't get any of doctor's services because as I was told by insurance company(called 5 times) instead of preauthorization form the receptionist submitted claim form which was accepted and the check was sent.The office returned the check and that was it. Asking to pay for the partially performed procedure on March 13th doesn't sound like preauthorization request for me either.The receptionist insist that she did everything right since she put something on bottom of the form that said it is supposed to be preauthorization. Dr. Wilkinson is very kind and professional, nice and definitely 5-star. However, you should review insurance with his front desk before she does her billing. I saved money in my FSA and wanted to use for the treatment, but his front desk made a billing error that took months to correct with the insurance company. I know the insurance company can move slow, but it would have been a non issue if she did not make the mistake in the first place. I should have caught it, but I did not pay attention to what she was doing. So I give him 5 stars, but 3 stars to the front desk lady. read more

I was referred to Dr Wilkinson by a friend, who was very happy with the service. I went in for consultation just before going out of town. Dr Wilkinson was very attentive and confirmed that I needed a root canal treatment. Darlene, his office manager was on top of her game. She had contacted my insurance company and had me pre -qualified. She also kept me informed via email as I was not accessible via phone and gave me a few options for the appointment. The procedure was easy and successful. I did not even fell the needle. What an awesome team-Dr.Wilkinson and Darlene. I will not hesitate to refer my friends and family to them. read more

Avoid by all means! On Tuesday last week I was forwarded to Dr. Wilkinson by my dentist as the root canal on my tooth with a crown needed re-treatment. I informed Dr. Wilkinson about an issue, but instead of doing the actual re-treatment procedure he was checking my other teeth, recorded a video of the check, spent time on friendly chat...did everything besides the procedure for which I came. I told him that I'm leaving on vacation next week, but he said that the issue is not urgent and he recommends to do the procedure once I am back from vacation. Although I already had a bump on my gum and apparently pus was spreading out, Dr did not find any urgency in the need to complete a procedure. Over the weekend inflammation on the tooth worsened with horrible pain affecting my ear and head. Neither antibiotics nor pain killers that Dr Wilkinson prescribed worked for me. I called Dr's office first thing this morning, but they informed that Dr has no openings for the next 2 days and will not be able to complete re-treatment before I'm gone on vacation. Then I told them that will look for other doctor to help me out today or tomorrow, but they said: AS RE-TREATMENT WILL NOT KILL PAIN RIGHT AWAY, THERE IS NO POINT TO DO ANYTHING RIGHT NOW. Doctor and his assistant Darlene are not carrying, they are unprofessional and will do their best to rip you off. They are scheduling separate consultation appointments and separate treatment appointments, instead of getting everything done in one visit - as long as they can charge you for every appointment they schedule who cares about your pain. read more

I have got two root canals done here and both were amazing. One in 2014 another in 2015. The thing I liked the most was that the doctor was really interested in getting the root canal done correctly. He verified his work with some extra X-rays and then when he was satisfied he finished the job. read more

Dr Wilkinson is such a respectable, friendly, caring, and extremely skilled in doing root canal. They value patient's waiting time. The office called me one day before my apt and there is very minimum waiting time to start the treatment. One time, due to traffic jam and expect to have 20 mins late, I called the office and the staff explains to me about re-scheduling my apt time to other available timeslot at the same date without impacting other patient's schedule and rush the treatment time. I have zero pain tolerance and I could never image that the root canal is a painless until I have this experience with Dr Wilkinson. During the root canal treatment, Dr Wilkinson allocated enough time to explain every step of the procedure while he was working and it takes away my fear and relax me. After the root canal treatment, Dr showed me the before and after root canal digital xray and answer the questions I have patiently. The office staff called me next day after my root canal for the follow-up to see how I am doing and I already setup the next follow-up apt on the same day for my root canal. I feel that I am well treated from the date I made apt, the root canal treatment and follow-up. If I need another root canal, I hope not, it is no question that I will choose Dr Wilkinson as my Endodontist. I highly recommend Dr Wilkinson and also many thanks to Dr Wilkinson and his staff. read more

I was referred to Dr. Wilkinson by my dentist in 2011. I had 2 root canals done by Dr. Wilkinson in 2011 and 2012. The crown on tooth that was re-treated in 2011 was broken in 2014 and I had to do the implant. The root canal that was re-treated in 2012 got infected again in 2015 when the normal expectation for root canal re-treatment is 5 years. Dr. Wilkinson provided a partial re-treatment of the root canal in 2012 and when I had my check swollen a month after the procedure he wrote a letter to my dentist who was working on my crown and contacted him on this matter, but did not want to see me again to complete the work. Instead I had to take a lot of antibiotics to stop swelling. Dr. Wilkinson is not a good specialist and caring person. He is nice and friendly at the beginning. After his re-treatment I spent $5000 on one implant and now need to decide what to do about the other tooth after I spent $1600 on tooth canal re-treatment and $1200 on the crown in 2012. Unfortunately, I went for the third root canal in July 2015. Dr. Wilkinson was not nice or friendly with me when he learned that the tooth he re-treated in 2011 was broken and I had to do the implant. He was 30 minutes late for my appointment, attempted to provide a partial treatment, opened half of my root canal only and completely destroyed the crown. I had to complete the third canal treatment with another dentist because Dr. Wilkinson did not want to treat me properly. I regret that I wasted my money on Dr. Wilkinson's treatment. I could have extracted those 2 teeth and put bridges instead. Darlene, Dr. Wilkinson's assistant always attempts to over charge for procedures that the insurance company agrees to pay according to its contract with Dr. Wilkinson. They require to sign a document that you will have to pay what the insurance does not cover when he has to accept the payment from the insurance company according to the contract. It takes forever to receive a refund from them, but they require the payment upfront in full. Darlene always says that the accountant is out of country. Dr. Wilkinson charges for x-rays that he does not take on the day of service. It took 18 phone calls for me to receive my refund of $104, but another $615 that my insurance company told him to return to me has not been returned since September 2015. The letter I sent to him asking for refund by certified mail was not accepted by his staff with the notice "unable to forward". You can send email to Darlene's personal email only and their fax machine is always turned off. I have never had such unprofessional treatment in any medical offices in my entire life. The office and equipment are very old. I was surprised to see in 2015 that everything in his office looked more worn out that it was at my previous visits. He had old medical tools, old chair that is very uncomfortable. This is not a sign of a prosperous business. I hope that those people who wrote positive reviews are not going to go back to Dr. Wilkinson if something goes wrong. I have to pay thousands of dollars now for Dr. Wilkinson's mistreatment. Dr. Wilkinson just wants to make money and does not care if the treatment is successful or not. read more

I booked an appointment for a consultation for Root Canal to see this dental office (a month in advance). My appointment wasn't 'till @8:45am. I was coming from a few cities away and have never been in the city of Sunnyvale. I arrived and phoned the receptionist @8:50am; Diane, of being 5 minutes late in and was just pulling in. Her mannerism was awful as she yelled at me that she was too busy to allow the dentist office to convenience me and 5 minutes was far too much as the office was one that was very busy. She stated they schedule patients back to back and was overbooked as it was. I told her I was coming from far, was lost and was only running 5 minutes behind if she would please understand. She wouldn't allow me to speak and continued with an over-toned demeanor, she said they wouldn't work me in at all and I would have to return for another day. I phoned back later to speak to her superior regarding her discourteous behavior and abrupt attitude of carelessness and she stated "there was no one above her to speak to"...terrible receptionist read more

I do not really recommend this doctor to any of my colleagues. I underwent two root canal treatment and was overcharged for the treatment.I paid nearly twice the amount I was supposed to pay.I learnt about this only after I received my insurance billing statements. The receptionist Darlene always postponed my refund by saying the office manager was sick and on vacation.But later I also understood that she was the only manager there and was fooling me.I still did not get my money refunded back completely.When I tried to call the office they wantedly do not pick up my calls too.When I spoke to my insurance agent and tried helping her send the claim faster by mailing her their fax number,she was simply rude to say that " I am so sorry as I mentioned in the email I sent you yesterday please direct all future questions or concerns to your insurance company. Thank you"This has been her response and she is now telling me tales that it is my insurance company that has not received her claim and delaying the payment.But my insurance says they have not yet received any claims made on that date! I have had a very horrible experience with this doctor's office and Darlene has been very rude to me.If you would ever go to this doctor watchout for overpayments and unethical conversations! Although dr.wilkinson and Darlene were good initially I noticed that they started changing their behavior towards me when I realized that I was overcharged and asked for my refund.I could not even guess this that I was fooled by Darlene that someone else was the office manager and she is not the one in charge of these.But the copayments were calculated promptly by her and we paid it immediately after treatment.This shows how they are not very genuine in their approach telling all sorts of tales to stay protected! read more
