This was very concerning for me, as I was not expecting this outcome and did not feel I received a clear explanation of what caused the failure or whether there were alternative options to save the tooth. I also felt uncomfortable being asked to proceed quickly with additional treatment and charges without having enough time to fully understand my situation or seek a second opinion. At this point, I am in the process of consulting another provider to better understand my options. I hope the office can improve communication, transparency, and patient support in situations like this.

About the cost and the pain and implications. I was immediately reassured upon meeting Dr. Tseng. Her friendly demeanor coupled with obvious expertise put me at ease. She even sketched out the issue on paper, noting what the options would be going forward, if healing did not happen as expected. And I could take that home. How thoughtful and practical is that? It was a bit of a grind...:-). But definitely not as bad as I feared. And fortunately, the healing has been swift. And the cost was very reasonable given the high level of expertise. It's important to take care of your teeth at any age, but especially as a "senior". And I am grateful to have found Dr. Tseng.

It's hard enough knowing you have to have a root canal so going to someone you trust is so important. Dr. Cho's bedside manners immediately put me at ease from his down-to-earth way of interacting with me while clearly being very knowledgable about the complexities of performing root canals. For me, this is the perfect balance I always hope to find in a provider - personable and professional, but sometimes easier said than done to find that perfect fit. During the root canal procedure, I was much calmer than I had expected. After ensuring I was fully anesthetized, he talked through every step of the procedure. His assistant, Cecelia, was fantastic too, and they are a great team as she is on standby for him during the entire procedure. Then tonight, he took the time to call me to check to see how I was feeling. Wow. I thought these 'after-procedure calls' typically happen after having major surgery so it just spoke to his attentiveness and care for his patients. While I'm no longer in the field, I do have firsthand knowledge of dental practices and procedures--and I genuinely loved the work I did. Dr. Kim is truly exceptional. Having worked with many dentists, I can confidently say I have never seen the level of care, knowledge, patience, and compassion that Dr. Kim consistently provides to his patients. I found Dr. Kim while searching for a dentist for my elderly stepfather, who needed extensive dental work after decades of neglect. In his 70s, he hadn't seen a dentist in over 40 years and required full extractions in preparation for dentures. To complicate matters, he had recently suffered a heart attack, is on medications that make dental procedures more complex, and is not in the best overall health. From the very beginning, Dr. Kim took the time to truly understand my stepfather's situation--not just dentally, but medically as well. He approached his care with a thoughtful, conservative, and team-oriented mindset, which is not something you find with every dentist. Trust me when I say that. Although this has been a long and ongoing process, Dr. Kim continues to go above and beyond in ways that are far from typical. He personally follows up after hours, prioritizes continuity of care, and takes the time to thoroughly explain procedures to both patients and caregivers. He is always accessible for questions via calls, emails, or other communication, and he makes every patient feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. I truly cannot say enough good things about Dr. Kim. His level of dedication, communication, and willingness to take on complex cases is rare and deserves recognition. Had I known about him earlier, I may have stayed in the dental field because providers like him make such a meaningful difference. She sent me to Dr. Victoria Moore, who had done a root canal for me a few years back. She also couldn't find the problem and said it was the ligament and had no remedy for the pain. Fortunately, on my own, I located a dentist who took a look and did an xray. He saw something in the X-ray and sent me to his friend, an endodontist. He immediately found the problem and did a root canal. I mention this because recently I had tooth pain and my dentist insisted I go back to Dr. Moore. we really got into a disagreement because I refused to obey her. I went back to the great endodontist I had last time. And now, my dentist is very irritated with me because I refused to take her advice so I've decided to seek a new dentist.
