I don't know that they claim to be, but the cuisine might be better described as "Jamaican inspired." I did enjoy my jerk chicken, it seems almost all the choices are seasoned with the same jerk spices so although there are lots of choices on the menu, there really isn't that much variety. I stumbled upon this restaurant as I was exploring downtown Springfield. The gal behind the counter recommended the Bowl because it has a little bit of everything. And it did not disappoint!! I ordered the Chicken option, and I was delighted with the little kick of heat that the dish had offered. They also make 2 different sauces that I tried -why not...when in Rome!! The egg roll was a standout- it's crunchy and has the extra yummy punch of jerk. It was actually too much food for one person, but I think the leftovers will be yummy today. The 2 guys working the counter were really nice and got my order put together quickly. It's relatively small inside- but it looked cozy. They have a small selection of bottled beer and White Claw. I just happened upon this place in search for a bakery, and WOW am I glad I did!! If you like spices and seasoning you will LOVE it here. Small and growing better. The new location offers seating, a larger and more diverse menu and more drink options. The most recent visit was on lunch when I had the jerk chicken tacos. My friends had the jerk chicken salad and jerk beef tacos. I brought my spouse in because she likes it spicy and loves jerk and beer. I knew with this one, I couldn't go wrong so we came in tonight. We tried lots of things including the jerk chicken quesadilla, the jerk shrimp and chicken tacos and two more chicken tacos. The egg rolls and the quesadilla came with sauces. We liked the egg roll sauce better than the bbq sauce that came with the quesadilla and fries. Oh yeah, I forgot about the fries. They were savory but not salty. So the verdict for me is still out. They didn't even have salt in the store to put on the fries. I like mine hot and salty...but the were hot, crispy and savory. If I had to voy on my favorite item ...the jerk chicken tacos have it for the big win!!! The jerk seasoning with the fresh cilantro and whatever else they put on there is absolutely delicious. Not that the quesadilla and the egg rolls weren't good...everything really was very tasty. But my second favorite item was the chicken egg roll...spicy savory and deep fried in a crunchy shell. First time trying Jerk chicken and the quesadilla didn't disappoint! I loved the creamy sauce it came with to dip in and the Jerk Egg Roll was a fun twist. The food pumping out of here is amazing, only knock for me is the ambiance; music was a bit too loud. I also believe they were having an issue with the A/C but it happens now and again. Great local spot offering a variety of options and rapid service. I called Jerk Shop Go and wanted to try a variety of options so luckily they had the "famous pick 3". For my main I had the jerk Philly chicken sandwich and my two side choices were the shrimp eggroll and cheese fry. My order was complete upon concluding my walk to restaurant and everything was still hot and fresh upon getting to my hotel. When you enter the building the food smells amazing and there's excellent music playing. Portion wise I was extremely hungry and barely finished my food so this is a good portion option. Everything was seasoned to perfection and delicious. My only feedback would be I would love to try their jerk sauce and get some off that on the Philly chicken to add extra flavor, although it doesn't need it I just like sauces. Fusion cooking has been getting bad press over the last decade, and we think that's unfair, especially since a broadened experience encourages open communication and understanding. We'll stop there on food politics. In execution, the spicing and integration of 2 spice-laden food cultures was spot-on and an absolute party for the tastebuds. The cooks in this kitchen are also superb at making succulent chicken. The only reason this wasn't a 5-star review was the slightly dry tilapia, and the excessive saucing on the shrimp nachos that rendered the chips too soggy to finish halfway through. They really didn't need the sauce but, the sauce was a bonus. I've never had chicken tips before but, I can tell you this won't be my last time enjoying them. The worker were professional and attentive. This is my first time here. I'm taking a quick lunch break. My food was ready in about 10 minures. I did notice each worker gloved only one hand.... they only touched my food with the gloves hand but they touch the container holding the food with I gloved hand also.
