I have gotten the jerk chicken and I often just run in for a meat pie but today I got the curry chicken and chile let me tell you!!! This curry was delicious. It was stewed thighs on the bone and it was so tender and marinated so that the flavor went through the chicken and all around it! It was sitting on red beans and rice that married with it nicely. The cabbage was tender and what I wanted. The yams, the yams, the yams! They were sweet but I felt a little tiny spice on my tongue. A hint, teeny bit of crusty curry perhaps? Really good!! I usually wait until visiting new local places twice before reviewing, but esp since our late lunch was met with zero crowd (which we initially took as a bad sign) and since my eyebrows haven't sweated this much since we were last in Jamaica, I'm letting' her fly now. The bottom line is that the jerk does seem a touch expensive, but even lunch is probly enuf for a 2nd meal later! So, ask the counter attendant to pull the covers off the lids of what they have there out front and drink in the aromas (and a taster if the line is light) and then consider having them grill you up some of the authentic jerk In the kitchen with what sure tastes like the same scotch bonnet pepper-based marinade/sauce I remember from the last time we were actually in Jamaica. And no, my eyebrows do NOT normally sweat when I eat spicy food! Given it was slow, we chatted up the gracious and friendly counter lady and sampled the curry and meat stew, both were rich in slow-cooked flavor. We also learned that some of the dishes on the menu (catfish and oxtail to name two great ones) sold out so fast initially that they are now only offered on weekends, so be advised. I'd go 4.5 instead of a full 5-stars here only because the mac-n-cheese was nothing special and the meat pie was tasty, but similar to what you find in the Sam's Club freezer case. Otherwise I am ecstatic to have real Jamaican food in town! This is authentic Jamaican food. I drove an hour just to get here. The curry chicken is perfect; rice and peas are delicious and correct (not red beans and rice); patties are good but not flaky. What can I say? I come here with my boyfriend every time I visit Illinois. Get the Jerk Chicken Alfredo...oh my goodness! So good. We get that and an order of jerk chicken to make salads with. My spouse and I are sharing a large mixed jerk chicken dinner and large curry chicken. Not only is it delicious, there's definitely enough for lunch for both of us tomorrow, and we have HEALTHY appetites. Tastes like home cooking made with lots of experience, time, and love. That means deep complex flavors bone IN. The spice level is just right. I'd say it's at a taco bell "hot" sauce packet level. They've made a regular out of my for sure. Can't wait to go back! They do not use seasoning on sides here, make sure to ask for salt on fries or veggies. Fries were soggy but I had take-out. TONS of bones! Be careful! They cut right through and leave it in with the meat. The mixed jerk chicken is 1/3 bone by volume. Spicy, the jerk sauce is roughly 5-6 times hotter than Tabasco. Extra sauce containers are 1oz, most restaurants have 3oz sauce containers. read more

Excellent food service and excellent food. I have been there more than once and I'm very pleased every time. You cannot sit down and eat but even with taking the food to go I enjoyed it. The restaurant appeared to be clean as well it showed no signs of being unclean. Enjoyed the food which was oxtail, red beans and rice, sweet potatoes, beef patty, and plantain. It's probably just me but this cuisine is just not for me. My son loves it. I had the white meat chicken and they cut up the chicken in small pieces with the bones . I found such small peace's of bones inter mixed with the chicken that almost every bite I had to remove them from my mouth. THIS IS A CHOCKING HAZARD.
