Also with the replacement of our rounded corner beads to square we thank you for the mess your unskilled drywallers made of our walls with layers and layers of mud put on under your direction to get them square which in the end was never accomplished. My favourite words I learned from you are "changing the scope of work " so you could make a simple electrical box placement in the post go from a week long project to a month and and half long project because I changed the scope of work. Oh and "as per our contract " is one of my favourites too so you could add on more work as you felt fit as you were sure to make the contract as vague as you could. " industry standards " love this one as I'm still trying to google where I can find a crooked post in industry standards. And best of all "builders lien" when we didn't want to sign off on the shoddy work you did and pay before the job was completed to your clients approval .... lucky for you guys we found someone that could try straightening the mess your drywallers made with old outdated metal corner beads. All in all I leaned a lot about this company they are not qualified to take on skilled jobs like this one and they are very manipulative, bad communication between the trades and the owner and in the end we ended up managing our own renovation. He stands behind his work and made sure that the final product was something we loved. We re-did our kitchen, living room, stairs, floors and a bathroom. While a few small issues came up- as they do with all projects of this size- Bryce surpassed our expectations and issues were resolved efficiently and often ended up in an even better outcome. He advised us on where to invest and where we could find economical solutions. His high standards for quality extend to his team, and we were really happy with the sub-contractors (A+ to Norbert and Marty for excellent drywall/ impeccable mudding). From our first meeting with Shwan, the Project Consultant, when we discussed our vision, to the end of the project, we were part of all the decisions on everything that needed to be done. We were consulted extensively by Rose, Hoda and the Head Designer Zaineb. They listened and delivered. It was a big project with new floors, cabinets, huge pantry, fireplace, powder room, live wall, new doors and so many other details. The Head Designer, who we absolutely love, Zaineb Al-Saffar was on top of everything -- a great asset to have when we needed any communication with any concerns or questions. She worked very closely with both of us and with her Chief Contractor Mo; Mo was in charge of overseeing the whole project. Mo is great, knows his job, and is quite a perfectionist. A pleasure to work with. Central to the team, Ash and Sarah were absolutely perfect. Renovating our place like no others and recommending solutions to our concerns. The kitchen cabinets and the sitting benches by the window are splendid! Madan Mohan , from Danma Cabinets here in the lower mainland, designed and installed the kitchen and dining room. We impulsively hired VGC for our kitchen renovation because I was naive. I believe they do charge a…read morelot of hidden costs and push these "change order" fees that is ridiculous. They gave us a budget for certain items like say our sink... and because I wanted to choose a more expensive sink than their predicted cost, they were going to charge us a change order fee. It makes no sense, if I want to spend a few hundred dollars more on my sink why do they reap financial benefit from it when they gave us a lowball amount to spend in the first place. We were also plagued with mismanagement of our project. The project manager, Ali, they assigned to us was inexperienced and made several errors that delayed our project. He was definitely hired based on nepotism as he was the best friend of the manager, Hussain. The PM was fairly clueless, luckily my husband is a carpenter and he really had to micromanage many aspects of the project. This is a shame since we thought we were hiring VGC to take the stress of managing the projects ourselves. Then Ali left us halfway through project for personal reason. We did get a better PM, Mo after but he had to deal with the aftermath of the first guy plus the first contractor, Hamid decided to leave our project midway due to a dispute with how the company mismanaged payment to him. I was then harassed for weeks by Hamid to pay him or else he'd put a lien on our home. Meanwhile, the manager Hussain did not check in once to clarify or reassure us that we did not owe the contractor anything outstanding as we made payment on time to VGC. Then Hamid further disclosed that VGC definitely overcharge their clients and he said our project should not have taken as long as it did to complete, which left a very negative feeling for us. I felt anxious throughout thinking Hamid was going to show up and threaten my family and I have small children at home, it was not a good feeling. There was also design flaws where calculations were flawed and it required my husband to step in and alter the design and measurements. All in all the project was a disaster for us and we do feel overcharged. I do not recommend them. They were not professional and the trades they hire are also not professional. Don't be persuaded by the smooth salesman pitch from the manager, it's all smoke and mirrors because when things went wrong they definitely didn't care about their customer.

He's not the cheapest, but he's fair, and it's not worth it to try to lowball.... you'll get what you pay for, believe me. Scott was able to fix my problems and there were no surprises with the bill. He is a great communicator, very talented and detail oriented. I had a small problem with one of his contractors installing incorrect baseboard heaters (both of us were at fault, I bought the wrong wattage and the electrician didn't see the warning.) Scott made sure it was taken care of right away, at no additional charge and he didn't make me feel like I was in the wrong. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.
