Electricians, plumbers, drywall, design, etc. Tom was so good at keeping the job on time, co-ordinating all trades people and very close to my budget and his original estimate. If changes happened and I guess they always do, he kept me posted. We made decisions together. Never any pressure. He was very clean too. Trusted him completely and would highly recommend him. I had two estimates done, his was the lower one which scared me a little. I did not choose him strictly because of price but he was also available sooner. I had a time-frame and he met that with days to spare! If you have a project and even if you only need another estimate or opinion I feel you would only be happy that you gave him a call and have him out to take a look. The transformation is amazing. We had 4 closets done, the two kid's rooms, guest room and the office and all are so much more functional and lovely than before. From the start to finish, everything went smoothly. Cara came to our home for the initial consultation, to take measurements and discuss what we wanted. She wore a mask, took all appropriate measures etc., and the best part is she input all of the closet dimensions into her program, and I was able to view my closets, on the laptop, and build exactly closet as needed. Everything from the colour, type of drawers, handles, EVERYTHING. The installer was fantastic as well, all covid precautions taken. He vacuumed everything after putting in the closets and even hung on the closet rail to show how strong they are. They have a lifetime warranty, which was a selling point. 100% happy with our choice and definitely recommend Cara and California Closets!

A BIG thanks to Haus Handyman - Alex, Ben, Haus & Carlos for letting us know that we wanted a…read morecrooked, twisted post in our kitchen .... the post you created at first was a half inch out then later with layers and layers of mud added to the post it was a 1/4" out and as we stood around the post your company said in full confidence the crooked post was to "industry standards" (see picture attached) Our advice to you is purchase a laser level, square ... even a measuring tape would of helped. Also with the replacement of our rounded corner beads to square we thank you for the mess your unskilled drywallers made of our walls with layers and layers of mud put on under your direction to get them square which in the end was never accomplished. My favourite words I learned from you are "changing the scope of work " so you could make a simple electrical box placement in the post go from a week long project to a month and and half long project because I changed the scope of work. Oh and "as per our contract " is one of my favourites too so you could add on more work as you felt fit as you were sure to make the contract as vague as you could. " industry standards " love this one as I'm still trying to google where I can find a crooked post in industry standards. And best of all "builders lien" when we didn't want to sign off on the shoddy work you did and pay before the job was completed to your clients approval .... lucky for you guys we found someone that could try straightening the mess your drywallers made with old outdated metal corner beads. All in all I leaned a lot about this company they are not qualified to take on skilled jobs like this one and they are very manipulative, bad communication between the trades and the owner and in the end we ended up managing our own renovation. I have my four closets installed by DCG based on the 5star ratings on yelp. During installation, I…read moreasked Cory the owner why two of my closets have edge moldings while three edge mouldings were missing in the other two closets.. Cory told me something like the wall is not straight and that is the best he could do. And also adding the rest of the mouldings would costs me more money. Now, after giving some thoughts about the matter, I think Cory did not bring enough edge mouldings to my house and he is too lazy to come back to complete the job. He figure that he can get away with these lies. Also, the manufacturing process is sloppy. The second picture shows that the particle board edge is exposed . In the email, Cory said that there will be 5 year warranty on the closet. I asked him about it, he said the invoice is the warranty. There is no warranty in the invoice. Now I look back at all the 5 star ratings on this company. It turns out that all of them are from before 2018 when the previous owners were in charge. This company under the new owner does not deserve a five star rating. It does sloppy manufacturing and installation job, try to finish the job as quickly as possible and does not treat it's customer correctly. Is it possible to find a 5-star contractor? Well, I honestly thought that the answer was NO until I…read moremet Steve. I am a picky person with background in Architecture and Design. A lazy rushed contractor doesn't work for me. After so many frustrations and searches for the perfect contractor, I randomly found Steve. Basically when I searched for a contractor to renovate my two nasty bathrooms and fix all the leaking problems that had happened for the past 18 years, I came up with a short list of contractors. I had met a few of them, but when I met Steve for a quick chat, I felt that was the guy! He seemed to be so proactive, technical, intelligent and clever. He was the person I wanted: I guy with good eyes for great finishing, respecting what the client wants and, the main thing, focusing on solving real problems and not just talking about pretty light fixtures. And I gladly hired him right away! My 2 bathrooms look so perfect! All the small details where carefully done and in the way I wanted. Always sharing the possible problems and solutions. Steve not only fixed all the plumbing, electrical and structural problems, but upgraded everything for high end quality service and products. And more... he did not only beautifully renovate our bathroom, but figured out problems in my building that existed for at least the last 10 years! Steve became popular among my neighbors and everybody loved his presence in the building. Not only because he is a such a good professional guy that helped the neighbors, but because he was nice, pleasant and honest person that everybody was glad to see around. Yes, that's Steve. Some even said Steve felt like part of the family! He is also a very clean contractor. The reno happened while we were living in the condo. As he understands well how physics works, he knew exactly what to do to not spread dust to the rest of the areas like living room and bedrooms. Yup. Sounds impossible, but that happened. When he was producing dust, he always vacuumed everything at the end of the day. Steve had free access to my condo for several months and I fully trusted in him. He respected the time to come to our place and leave. Finally, the reno took longer than I thought, but at the end of the day, it is totally understandable when he works by himself always making sure that he is doing his best and also making sure I was happy with his work. I'd would rather going through a long reno with someone that I fully trust than 10 strangers doing whatever work to finish everything in a month, so 10 years later you would have to deal with problems. That is not an option for me at all. Not even if I was going to sell my place right after.
