It is simply splendid. From our first meeting with Shwan, the Project Consultant, when we discussed our vision, to the end of the project, we were part of all the decisions on everything that needed to be done. We were consulted extensively by Rose, Hoda and the Head Designer Zaineb. They listened and delivered. It was a big project with new floors, cabinets, huge pantry, fireplace, powder room, live wall, new doors and so many other details. The Head Designer, who we absolutely love, Zaineb Al-Saffar was on top of everything -- a great asset to have when we needed any communication with any concerns or questions. She worked very closely with both of us and with her Chief Contractor Mo; Mo was in charge of overseeing the whole project. Mo is great, knows his job, and is quite a perfectionist. A pleasure to work with. Central to the team, Ash and Sarah were absolutely perfect. Renovating our place like no others and recommending solutions to our concerns. The kitchen cabinets and the sitting benches by the window are splendid! Madan Mohan , from Danma Cabinets here in the lower mainland, designed and installed the kitchen and dining room. Excellent workmanship and professionalism. He responded with respect and agreement when we needed to have features corrected. He stands behind his product and workmanship!, The quality of product and workmanship by Canadian Countertops is undeniable; both the kitchen counters, backsplash and fireplace surrounding are perfect. Because of Covid-19, the live wall has not yet been delivered and installed, but this will be done as soon as health restrictions are lifted. Overall, Vancouver General Contractors has delivered well beyond our expectations and we marvel every day at how our home has been transformed. The team was professional, hardworking and produced a high standard of work. Also, I cannot sing high enough praises of Zaineb and Mo, who helped us through the whole process. We highly recommend Vancouver General Contractors!! In fact, we have hired them again to renovate our old bathroom upstairs... the design and material are state of art and it is going to be gorgeous! We impulsively hired VGC for our kitchen renovation because I was naive. I believe they do charge a…read morelot of hidden costs and push these "change order" fees that is ridiculous. They gave us a budget for certain items like say our sink... and because I wanted to choose a more expensive sink than their predicted cost, they were going to charge us a change order fee. It makes no sense, if I want to spend a few hundred dollars more on my sink why do they reap financial benefit from it when they gave us a lowball amount to spend in the first place. We were also plagued with mismanagement of our project. The project manager, Ali, they assigned to us was inexperienced and made several errors that delayed our project. He was definitely hired based on nepotism as he was the best friend of the manager, Hussain. The PM was fairly clueless, luckily my husband is a carpenter and he really had to micromanage many aspects of the project. This is a shame since we thought we were hiring VGC to take the stress of managing the projects ourselves. Then Ali left us halfway through project for personal reason. We did get a better PM, Mo after but he had to deal with the aftermath of the first guy plus the first contractor, Hamid decided to leave our project midway due to a dispute with how the company mismanaged payment to him. I was then harassed for weeks by Hamid to pay him or else he'd put a lien on our home. Meanwhile, the manager Hussain did not check in once to clarify or reassure us that we did not owe the contractor anything outstanding as we made payment on time to VGC. Then Hamid further disclosed that VGC definitely overcharge their clients and he said our project should not have taken as long as it did to complete, which left a very negative feeling for us. I felt anxious throughout thinking Hamid was going to show up and threaten my family and I have small children at home, it was not a good feeling. There was also design flaws where calculations were flawed and it required my husband to step in and alter the design and measurements. All in all the project was a disaster for us and we do feel overcharged. I do not recommend them. They were not professional and the trades they hire are also not professional. Don't be persuaded by the smooth salesman pitch from the manager, it's all smoke and mirrors because when things went wrong they definitely didn't care about their customer.

We were amazed at how fast and efficent and professional this company is, and they are extremely reasonably priced. They take great pride in their work and strive to make sure their customers are completely satisfied. The office staff and installer were all wonderful to deal with, we were treated like royality from start to finish. We have never felt so welcome in a business as we are there. For anyone needing flooring installed we HIGHLY recommend Diverse Flooring, you won't get a sweeter deal or treated better by anyone like you will with these wonderful people. It is so nice to deal with a local family run business here in Maple Ridge that gives it their all, it has been a real pleasure.

We now have an amazing kitchen complete with new cabinetry, new lighting, new countertop, and a tile floor that's under-heated. The quality of their work is first-rate. They didn't have an easy time of it either as there is nothing in the original building construction that is square or level. Also with the replacement of our rounded corner beads to square we thank you for the mess your unskilled drywallers made of our walls with layers and layers of mud put on under your direction to get them square which in the end was never accomplished. My favourite words I learned from you are "changing the scope of work " so you could make a simple electrical box placement in the post go from a week long project to a month and and half long project because I changed the scope of work. Oh and "as per our contract " is one of my favourites too so you could add on more work as you felt fit as you were sure to make the contract as vague as you could. " industry standards " love this one as I'm still trying to google where I can find a crooked post in industry standards. And best of all "builders lien" when we didn't want to sign off on the shoddy work you did and pay before the job was completed to your clients approval .... lucky for you guys we found someone that could try straightening the mess your drywallers made with old outdated metal corner beads. All in all I leaned a lot about this company they are not qualified to take on skilled jobs like this one and they are very manipulative, bad communication between the trades and the owner and in the end we ended up managing our own renovation. Shame on you for creating a crooked post. Mike & Marcia

None of our friends or families had any recent home renovations done so we relied on our own search on the web. I was in town in September 2008 for a week, interviewed a couple on the 2nd day in town and decided on Level One. The owner came to the condo with an assistant for an assessment, listened to what we wanted to have done and offered a few suggestions. I was given a quote within just a couple of days. After agreeing to the contract, the demolition started the following week! Although it was a small one-bedroom condo, we had our kitchen torn out and replaced with new appliances and cabinetry, all the flooring replaced with bamboo flooring, the bedroom closet gutted and rebuilt, half of the bathroom redone. The project was completed in just 2 months. We are very happy with the process and the quality of the work. We were still living in California at the time of the renovation so all communications were done either by email or over the phone. We received email and photo updates weekly if not more frequently. We were sought approvals for any changes to the plans so we were aware of all changes to the costs all the time. When we walked into our condo a few months later when we moved here, it was exactly how it looked in the picture, even better because we could see it in person. There was a slight problem with the bathroom sink a month after we moved in in March 2009. It was a new product so it needed some tweaking. The owner came back numerous times to make sure it worked. Not only that we were not charged for the visits, he gave us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience caused. We had other renovation projects in the past and Level One is the most reliable contractor we dealt with so far.
