None of our friends or families had any recent home renovations done so we relied on our own search on the web. I was in town in September 2008 for a week, interviewed a couple on the 2nd day in town and decided on Level One. The owner came to the condo with an assistant for an assessment, listened to what we wanted to have done and offered a few suggestions. I was given a quote within just a couple of days. After agreeing to the contract, the demolition started the following week! Although it was a small one-bedroom condo, we had our kitchen torn out and replaced with new appliances and cabinetry, all the flooring replaced with bamboo flooring, the bedroom closet gutted and rebuilt, half of the bathroom redone. The project was completed in just 2 months. We are very happy with the process and the quality of the work. We were still living in California at the time of the renovation so all communications were done either by email or over the phone. We received email and photo updates weekly if not more frequently. We were sought approvals for any changes to the plans so we were aware of all changes to the costs all the time. When we walked into our condo a few months later when we moved here, it was exactly how it looked in the picture, even better because we could see it in person. There was a slight problem with the bathroom sink a month after we moved in in March 2009. It was a new product so it needed some tweaking. The owner came back numerous times to make sure it worked. Not only that we were not charged for the visits, he gave us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience caused. We had other renovation projects in the past and Level One is the most reliable contractor we dealt with so far.

Everything looks clean and presentable at this point which is all I wanted. As far as the patio goes, it couldn't have been done better by my estimation. I got the flooring I've always wanted and the squeaky/shaky stairs have finally been fixed after tormenting us for months. They added a small rock wall and added a whole new patio roof. They are upper boxes, with no proper adjustable legs--chip on the door out of boxes. Tony Chen provided the missing parts, his installer left the job as is with the missing door, kitchen plates not installed properly, defective drawers, and box joints stuck up 1/8" inches. Tony Chen did not disclose one single work of the nasty writing agreement. Stay away from this business
