It gives me great pleasure to write this review for Michael and South Coast Sundecks. We just had a…read morecomposite deck installed and we love it! In the briefest terms, Michael was very responsive, explained what he could do, gave a fair estimate, showed up on time, and did an excellent job. Taking these in turn, we were first struck by how responsive Michael was. Where other companies took several days to respond, Michael got back to us very soon after we reached out. We had a very helpful initial conversation about our needs and what he could do for us. I will note, to his credit, that he truly was interested in meeting our needs, and even discussed not installing a deck and simply refurbishing our old deck. There is integrity in that. He was very honest and full of information about composite decks and other options. The most important thing about Michael is that he showed up, on time, when he said he would. Our experience with contractors and builders (and I am sure many reading this can relate) is not great. We just accepted that builders not showing up on time, or simply not showing up, was the norm and not the exception. We were pleasantly surprised when Michael showed up exactly when he said he would, and did exactly what he said would. He arrived soon after we reached out and did a detailed assessment and provided us a quote with options. He did not give us the least expensive quote, but it was fair, and it was far from the most expensive quote. We discussed different options and discussed how to accommodate any surprises that he might encounter while doing work on the deck. He arrived soon after we signed the contract with a team of equally capable and respectful employees. Again, they showed up each day and worked hard and competently to complete our deck. As they were working with an existing structure, it was not without complications and wrinkles. Michael rolled with all of that and fixed what needed fixing. He is uncompromising in his integrity, attention to detail, and excellence. He could have cut corners... we would not have known... but he did not. Moreover, he gave generously of his time, and it did not result in any deviation in cost from the original contract. It was clear to us that he would not install a deck that he was not proud of. We are so happy with the result! Now 2 years into the pandemic and limited social interaction, we cannot wait to show off our deck and have our friends and family over. Michael is competent, professional, personable, and I recommend him for your project without reservation.

Electricians, plumbers, drywall, design, etc. Tom was so good at keeping the job on time, co-ordinating all trades people and very close to my budget and his original estimate. If changes happened and I guess they always do, he kept me posted. We made decisions together. Never any pressure. He was very clean too. Trusted him completely and would highly recommend him. I had two estimates done, his was the lower one which scared me a little. I did not choose him strictly because of price but he was also available sooner. I had a time-frame and he met that with days to spare! If you have a project and even if you only need another estimate or opinion I feel you would only be happy that you gave him a call and have him out to take a look. The transformation is amazing. He even did extras like mounting the TV and touching up the paint! We are very happy with the results. Thank you Tom!

It took me a year to research & decide which company to use to repair the foundation cracks for my 30 years old house. I had concerns about the cost and the quality of works. Base on reviews I finally decided to call Neil. His turnaround time is prompt although he is extremely busy during peak summer season. He took the time to explain what needs to be done and what's not (if it is not necessary) and listen to my concerns. He even returned the next day for a minor fix for me. I am very grateful to him and very satisfied with the quality of his work and reasonable charge. I would highly recommend Neil to anyone who needs foundation repairs.

None of our friends or families had any recent home renovations done so we relied on our own search on the web. I was in town in September 2008 for a week, interviewed a couple on the 2nd day in town and decided on Level One. The owner came to the condo with an assistant for an assessment, listened to what we wanted to have done and offered a few suggestions. I was given a quote within just a couple of days. After agreeing to the contract, the demolition started the following week! Although it was a small one-bedroom condo, we had our kitchen torn out and replaced with new appliances and cabinetry, all the flooring replaced with bamboo flooring, the bedroom closet gutted and rebuilt, half of the bathroom redone. The project was completed in just 2 months. We are very happy with the process and the quality of the work. We were still living in California at the time of the renovation so all communications were done either by email or over the phone. We received email and photo updates weekly if not more frequently. We were sought approvals for any changes to the plans so we were aware of all changes to the costs all the time. When we walked into our condo a few months later when we moved here, it was exactly how it looked in the picture, even better because we could see it in person. There was a slight problem with the bathroom sink a month after we moved in in March 2009. It was a new product so it needed some tweaking. The owner came back numerous times to make sure it worked. Not only that we were not charged for the visits, he gave us a bottle of wine for the inconvenience caused. We had other renovation projects in the past and Level One is the most reliable contractor we dealt with so far.

When Bryce came through, we knew we wanted to work with him. While other contractors just asked us what we wanted, Bryce was excited about our home and the potential. He had creative ideas, and could come up with brilliant solutions where other builders had been stumped. He treated our project like it was his home and had the same standards for quality. He stands behind his work and made sure that the final product was something we loved. We re-did our kitchen, living room, stairs, floors and a bathroom. While a few small issues came up- as they do with all projects of this size- Bryce surpassed our expectations and issues were resolved efficiently and often ended up in an even better outcome. He advised us on where to invest and where we could find economical solutions. His high standards for quality extend to his team, and we were really happy with the sub-contractors (A+ to Norbert and Marty for excellent drywall/ impeccable mudding). Shawn and Travis were the two main Capilano guys on our crew and we couldn't have asked for a harder working team. Best of all, they were an absolute pleasure to have around. Our home looks amazing and we feel confident that Bryce will stand behind his work moving forward. We finished within the allotted time frame and on budget. Thank you Capilano Builders! We love our home, enjoyed the process (this is rare), and 100% back this company. We look forward to using them exclusively for future projects.

Over the past year or so, every time we've called him, whether it's a small fix or a bigger project, he's been able to handle it quickly, thoroughly, and with zero hassle. No matter the job, he knows exactly what to do and gets it done right the first time. He's incredibly skilled, consistently reliable, and genuinely takes pride in doing things the right way. You can see the care and attention he puts into every job, and it really shows in the quality of his work. He's also very organized and professional, always arriving prepared, keeping his work area neat, and clearly explaining what needs to be done and what to expect. Ricky is accommodating. More than once, he's helped us out the same day we called, which is rare and so appreciated. He's always willing to make time when something urgent comes up, and that kind of reliability is hard to come by. One thing we really value and appreciate is that when Ricky gives us an estimate, it is purely based on the actual work that needs to be done--nothing else, not on the neighborhood, the house, or anything else unrelated. He doesn't change the price after seeing our place or add unexpected costs later, which we've experienced with others. That kind of fairness and integrity means a lot to us and is a big reason why we continue to call him. We trust him 100%. It's such a relief knowing we have someone we can truly trust, someone who's dependable, honest, and just really good at what he does. We're so glad we found Ricky, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled, trustworthy, and all-around excellent handyman. Highly, highly recommend. Just wanted to share our experience, it's well-earned.
