This time it's Tuesday 03/12 at 2:28pm says open online but the restaurant is closed with no explanation on the door or anything. Tried calling but the phone says it's disconnected. The chips and salsa brought to the table were cold. When asked if that's how you normally serve them they said yes. The chips need salt and the salsa needs more flavor. We ordered pineapple, mango and cucumber margaritas and really enjoyed them. The straws for the margaritas were weirdly short; not sure why that is. Loved the vibrant colorful straws. The quesadillas were good, but too much cheese-order light cheese. Birria tacos were excellent! Chilaquiles was good, loved that they separated the ingredients so the chips didn't get mushy. I had never eaten talachones but I'm willing to eat just about anything, so I ordered the talachones and I am so glad I did! They are so tasty! I guess talachones is beef slow cooked in a yummy, spicy, peppery sauce, then shredded and put into taco shells with melted cheese. The taco shells are very crispy - do they fry them after filling? I don't know. They come with a small cup of the sauce that the meat had been simmered in. Served with sautéed onions and diced raw onions. I can't rave too much about how great this tasted. We had also ordered the combo tacos: beef, pork, & chicken. The cook made a mistake & thought we had ordered the talachones filling in one so he turned that into a torta talachona & gave that to us for free. It weighs about a pound so we're saving it for later. The combo tacos were delicious. Let's keep this place open in Palos Heights! read more

Tried Jerez yesterday. Service was great, food is really good. The Birra is excellent. I read reviews about cold chips, sure they would be better if they were warm, but it's not the end of the world. Drinks were great and atmosphere was perfect. Only comment I have is about the sauces. They have 4. All very hot. I like heat but these are all really hot. If one could be mild...call it a Gringo sauce. We heard the table next to us making the same comment. This is already a really good Mexican option, please just gimme some mild sauce. Ordered quesabirria plate when my order came out I received just a birria plate I asked the server to correct it she was not accommodating said she would charge us for another plate and would just wrap that up to go. I've been here plenty of times and that was just very inconsiderate of her. While eating our meal noticed someone else walk in with to go order that was incorrect. FOOD WAS AMAZING but service lacked! I had the pasta in the birria consomé that included shrimp and garlic bread and it was delicious! As a Mexican I can confidently say that this is true authentic Mexican food for those who are looking for it. The service however was lacking, I had a tall young lady with black hair who did not speak Spanish and who made many mistakes. This young lady did not write down my tables order and got us the wrong tortas, did not get my father the right drink, and got me the wrong margarita. This young lady brought over the card reader for us to pay for the meal right when we asked for boxes instead of waiting for us to ask for the check which was also annoying. Honestly I do not think she is a good fit for this restaurant since this restaurant is named after a city in Zacatecas Mexico and a large amount of the clientele is from that state or the town Jerez. read more

If I could choose zero stars I would. The service at this poor excuse of an establishment is terrible. Placed an order via toast website and asked 3 times if the order is correct and was told that it was, getting home of course the entire order was wrong. Just tried the Talachones which is really good but the only thing better is the aroma you smell while they're cooking! If you weren't hungry when you walk in the door, you will soon be starving after starting to smell them cooking and won't be able to wait! This is the best smelling Mexican restaurant in miles!!! I just had the talachones plate, but it really delivered. There's a place in Wisconsin my wife and I like because they serve a "pizza birria", but this place has effectively ruined that. This is waaaaaay better. Beef is tender and juicy, all the sauces provided are delicious, the serving size is pretty good, and it's just flat out delicious and worth it. We have tried their signature dish, Talachon. It's very juicy and not bad however I struggled to find something else that was noteable. Overall the food was average. The cocktails are a different story. I have to say for being a local restaurant they make above average margaritas. I have had their drinks three times now and they are always good. So far, their service has been good. The wait staff work hard and if they don't have an answer, they will quickly get an answer from the boss. Only thing ok about this place are the waitresses. They do not give you an option to choose how you would like your food cooked. They don't believe in your choice of meat that you would like even if you want a more expensive option. I couldn't even take more than 2 bites of the food. We didn't ask for a refund or a to go box.
