Lucky Burrito - Carne Asada Burrito plate with Rice and Beans - Mexican Near Me - Palos Heights, Illinois

Portion sizes were very good, just not happy with the overall flavor. Will give it another try and try something else

The gorditas at this location are the bomb -- always fresh and delicious! The burritos are fantastic too. The carne en su jugo is also tasty. I honestly haven't had a bad experience here yet. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend! read more

We've been eating here for nine years and it's by far the best Mexican food in the area. Best Al Pastor around! We recently had a bunch of teenagers over and got a catering order of 40 tacos and the owner hooked us up! It was a same day request, too. Often the owner will let us try the hot sauces he's working on, too. read more

Super good! I ordered the veggie burrito and added guacamole. I am impressed with the generous portion, and also with how quick and fresh it was made. I wish they gave more of that hot sauce condiment on the side. Probably should've asked for more. Will come back when craving it! read more

The food is excellent, the staff is great (very accommodating). The restaurant along with the restroom is clean. Prices are good, plenty of parking. read more

I love their food. I get cravings of their Beef Taco, corn tortilla with Rice only. No beans.& My niece only gets the Beef tortilla Bowl.

My rating is only about getting a carry-out Chicken Fajita Burrito which has always been excellent! Most places only give you lettuce and tomato but don't let you get fajita peppers and onions instead which is why I like to come here to get one. Their dining room looks adequate for about five couples. I have nothing bad to say about my experience here! read more

Really great food. Owners are super friendly. Clean, quick, reasonably priced. Not much on atmosphere so ne t time we will carry out

EXPENSIVE!!! 2 fajitas dinners 2 cans coke $50.88 super salty not happy with the food or price read more

Since the 1st day I went, it's been my husband's and my favorite to-go lunch place for Mexican food. I've had its taco salad, steak with onion, tacos-steak, chicken, pork, steak with poblano chiles and cheese (that's rasa con queso), and even had their breakfast plate for lunch when I just crave eggs and steak. They have carry-out service when I just want to pick it up for lunch when I'm busy at work. Love my Orchata drink and Recommend to everyone eat inside, but sit next to the booth area to the right or the seating to the left if you don't want to freeze or eat with your coats on. Service is friendly and attentive. Have one picnic bench outside if you want to eat outside when it's warmer. read more

BARF! GROSS!!!!! We love Mexican food and eat a lot of it. This is hands down the WORST place around. Salsa-I don't know if it is possible but I'm pretty sure it was spoiled. It tasted like vinegar and onion. Steak burrito was 3 days old at least. Meat had a gritty taste to it and no flavor. The beans tasted like eating sand. The rice was old and hard. The family all had chicken tacos and they all said it was super dry. Chips- can't screw up chips can you. Yep! Holy salt shaker. I think someone dropped an open salt shaker in my bag of chips. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!! read more

I have been going to this location for about 6 years now. They are very consistent and the quality is great. The owner here is very nice and generous. We share a love for hot peppers. Of all the Mexican restaurants n the area, this is the one that you can always count on for the quality. read more

Very expensive, in the last 5 to 6 times I've asked them to make sure they put cheese on tacos they say yes ,very little amount,if you like burritos with very little meat and none or little cheese than try one.Im done with unlucky burritos. read more

The best tacos I've ever try the service is great everything in the menu it's great I just like the tacos al pastor

Burrito was just ok, Next time I got steak fajitas they were excellent Third time I got steak fajitas again, very little steak and it seemed like old over cooked steak, but all the veggies and other stuff was good, but I will try other places next time read more

OMG, this place is the bomb. Who knew that a place you would expect to be a whole in the wall down town would find it's way to Palos Heights? I ordered a taco salad and to my surprise the cook makes their own taco bowls! Ground beef is spicy, yet good! You know the type; makes your nose run but you keep going back for more. In fact, I liked the taco salad so much that I had it two days in a row. My second visit was a taco salad and burrito. Both awesome! Besides Pop's Beef (127th & Harlem) this is my new favorite!!! read more

Lucky Burrito - Taco salad from Lucky Burrito - Mexican Near Me - Palos Heights, Illinois

I was excited today to have lunch with a friend over tacos and some good queso and chips. My friend picked up the tacos and we began to dig in .... all I tasted was salt. The chicken tacos were extremely salted. I tried adding sour cream to help it to no avail. So I switched to the trusty queso and chips only to find a hot cheese log. It was one big congealed lump of cheese covered in red goo. I normally am not the type of person to call a restaurant to complain but I called today. A woman answered the phone and while I was in midsentence she handed the phone to a man. I proceed to tell him that I had nothing but good experiences until today. I told him the tacos and queso were horrible. Needless to say in a matter of seconds it became a shouting match, with him doing most of the shouting. I ended the call after telling him that I would not be back and that I would tell others not to go to his restaurant ever again. He proceeded to continue yelling for my name and how he had plenty of patrons so he was not worried about my not coming back. The conversation ended because I hung up the phone while he was still yelling. Poor food, and absolutely horrible customer service. I would advise anyone to go to another restaurant. I wasted $25 but he lost a lot more. read more

Really good, fresh, well seasoned Mexican food. The steak and pork tacos are excellent. The steak mini burritos are super tasty and a real favorite. The retried beans are thick with a kick and are absolutely delicious. Really, love their food but please post your prices. It is very reasonable but I just like to see the prices when I order. read more

Great carry out mexican food. Incredibly fast pickup and a reasonable price. Big fan of the fajitas, burritos, and tacos.

Best Tacos Al Pastor. Carne en su Jugo also one of my favorites. Delicious Horchata Drink.

I stopped by this place to grab lunch for myself and a friend that lived in the area. The inside is pretty small, there is room for dining. The interior is a bit dated but it was clean and I guess that's all that matters. Since I wasn't dining in anyways it really didn't matter as I was just sitting there waiting for my food. I had steak tacos and they were good but nothing that really stood out. My friend got a steak taco and a veggie taco. She did not complain, she liked them both. It's unlikely I would be in the area anytime soon but if I was and needed a quickfix I would return. read more

great place, great food, great all around people inside, favorite place for a late burrito in palos, although i would like some music instead of the old soaps in 240p on a 2ft wide tv:(, still an excellent restaurant and great food from awesome people. read more

Great authentic restaurant. Has a small area for dine in, also available for take out. Fast service and good food!

It was the worst burrito I ever had. Also small size considering it being the most expensive I have ever seen. Meat was not tender what little there was. Both the red and the green salsa were also the worst I have ever encountered. Both of them had a very unusual taste. I have been eating Mexican food for over 50 years. I expected much better. read more

This place is awesome! I have never eaten at the Oak Lawn location, but stop by here at least a few times a month as I live right down the street. We always order the hard shell tacos (they make their own shells to order), burritos, and guacamole. NOM NOM! Their green sauce is too good to stop, and we have tried their tamales and enchiladas too. The steak and chicken are always hot and quality. The service is super quick, friendly, and keeps me coming back. This is definitely worth a stop! Also, we just ordered over $100 worth for a work lunch today (hard to do, because it's pretty cheap!) - everything was hot and correct. All our service technicians asked where we got the food from. One of the owners even helped me put all the food in my car! They really know how to run a business!!! read more

The carne asada burrito was good, not great, and was way too small to justify the $8.12 with tax that I paid for it alone, with no rice and beans. Won't be returning. read more

Should be renamed YUCKY BURRITO. I wonder why there are such plentiful positive reviews. It was busy while we were there, walking in, phoning in, dining in... but I wonder if it's because of lack of options in the area, which surprises me. Dined in yesterday (Sunday), party of 6, first time there. Decided to try it based on all the great Yelp reviews since we were in the area. Will NOT return. All those carry out people... I suggest you walk in and look at the establishment... wished I had seen the bathroom & kitchen before we decided to eat there. Shoddy maintenance throughout building/unit, very unkept bathroom and kitchen... two signs that make me frightened about the seriousness of cleanliness in this place. Not fast service, probably because the single woman is taking care of phone/carry out orders + walk ins. She was friendly, but not overly. Not all items on menu have prices, not a big menu, and low quality food, especially for the prices. Prices were around $7-9 single items, $13.50 plates, which is not super cheap for what you get, in our experience compared to other similar restaurants that we frequent in the surrounding Joliet area closer to where we dine on a regular basis. Order item + our family rating: chips/salsa offered on table - very skimpy for 6 people, decent taste Steak enchiladas $9- meh (alhough pretty presentation, pleasant surprise from rest of experience), overly salty, overcooked steak, not plentiful filling) 3 Mini burrito plate (vegetarian, shared between children) $7 - fair, decent price if you get the meat option, though they skipped serving it with any guac or sour cream as menu stated, when we asked for that and bean filling only instead of the meat choices, cheapos Chicken taco salad $7 - decent, esp with the fresh table salsa, comparable to most every restaurant, even a non Mexican restaurant version Vegetarian chimichanga $8- (picture attached) yuck, ordered as "everything" yet only ingredients were beans, rice & cheese, only thing served with it was lettuce/tomato, same price as steak/chicken/any other meat... yet it comes with less, ridiculously sad sides (shared with everyone)- obviously prepared/boxed rice with overly salty, run of the mill MSG laden seasoning; overly salty, runny, canned beans, thinned, runny sour cream; barely visible, runny guacamole (was that mayonnaise in there?) I was left with the feeling that they really didn't care to serve a great meal & were skimpy on ingredients and quality. I also see other photos posted with big plates --not the case with our dining yesterday! Look at the photo difference between my chimichanga and the one posted by another reviewer... mine came with no beans/rice other than what was in it... ridiculous difference in quality/quantity/consistency. Glad I documented it! Wish I would have photographed the other plates while in the restaurant. Healthiness - not at all a good choice. The only vegetables present were a few unripe tomato slices and iceberg lettuce in the salad and served next to the enchiladas and burrito/chimi, also sighted where the few dehydrated token peas & carrot cubes in the boxed fried rice, maybe 6 counted in all. Sad. Atmosphere- Small, meager seating, can maybe accommodate 16 or so people total. Friendly single female worker. Chairs and table were sticky. Restaurant unit structure in very poor, dirty, unkept shape. Bathrooms gross. Kitchen area not tidy or clean. I repeat, that seeing that on the way to/from bathroom only solidified my decision not to return there. We will stick to other Mexican restaurants in a very comparable price range and find fresher items, more quality, better ingredients and more homemade dishes, plus vegetables that are actually present. read more

Lucky Burrito - 1/2 of Veg chimichanga $8-filled only w boxed rice, beans & cheese. Served as is, w unripe tomato & shredded lettuce, no side of beans/rice! - Mexican Near Me - Palos Heights, Illinois

The truth be told this is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant. Steak tacos steak burritos and chicken tacos are the best. They are flavorful and are prepared from scratch every time I order them. The most important thing is that my food is hot when I bring it home and that to me means everything. By the way the prices aren't bad either. read more

Lucky us, for finding this place. Chips is usually good indication of a Mexican restaurants caliber. This one says its top notch. Forget about its small square footage. Food here impresses. Service is attentive, looks to be the owner cooking and servicing. Food is great and portions are always too much, not complaining. Chimichanga is great. Rice was flavorful. Chicken in the chimi and burrito have full flavor and tender, which isn't always the case. Good idea to ask if your dish is spicy. Some items came pre spiced and they are very spicy. Oh and the sign says BYOB, and there's a TV. Looks like a place to party. read more
