I was referred to this practice by my co-worker who also lives in Monroe. It was my first time here today and from the welcome at the front desk to the end, everything was perfect and very pleasant and professional. The receptionist is very nice. She first showed me around the clinic and introduced me to the dentist via pictures and handed me a welcome gift. My Hygienist was Kristi and OMG, she probably spoiled it for the rest of them because my expectations are very high now lol. She was just simply superb. The way she communicated was amazingly clear and the way she translated my findings to the Dentis was to the tee. My Dentist was Dr. Carlson. I must be getting old because she seemed so young lol. Very nice Dr. She also communicated everything nicely to me. All together I am happy to say that I found a new dentist. the only feedback I have is with the high cost of getting things done I was offered a plan to break up the cost, but I think it was more like a credit card of some sort. She did say she would not pull my credit and that if she did it would be a soft pull but not until I looked up the payment plan. Of course I declined it immediately since the interest rate was 33%. I think they need to offer better options like my old dentist. They offer to break up the plan without having to apply for credit. But, everything was very satisfactory. I am glad to have found a nice, clean, modern and friendly dentist. read more

I have been a patient at Monroe Smiles for 8 years. I have nothing negative to say about the care that I received but dealing with insurance issues both when I was working and now with Medicare has been a constant struggle. I recently went to a new Advantage plan and was told upfront what my co-pay would be only to find out later that I owed them an additional $80 as my insurance was no longer in network. Rather than having a discussion, alll I got was the same reply - they were no longer in network and they never accepted the responsibility for not divulging that when I checked in. I recently had my first appointment at Monroe Smiles, and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a cheerful and welcoming staff, all full of smiles. The office itself is clean and organized, with a cozy waiting area that made me feel right at home. Upon entering my exam room, I discovered a lovely welcome gift waiting for me, which added a nice personal touch to my visit. Although I don't generally have fear of dental visits, Maria offered me comfort items like a blanket, water, a stress ball, neck pillow, and more--making the experience even more enjoyable. My hygienist, Camille, was exceptional--her gentle approach and calming tone put me at ease immediately. She maintained great communication throughout the entire visit, which I really appreciated. The X-rays were easy to manage, and they also took regular photos of my teeth for before-and-after treatment purposes and chart references. The cleaning process was fantastic; my teeth feel incredibly clean and happy after my visit. I've been going to Monroe Smiles since moving here 10 years ago. Today they insisted they needed to take my blood pressure before they would do my cleaning. After some useless discussion about what this was about Dr Johnson told me to find another dentist. Apparently my not just accepting repeated phrases like "our standard of care" and "ADA guidelines" was problematic. I was kind of insistent that I wanted to research what they were doing for myself. So I am now with a different dentist -- who is better rated, and even his receptionist was able to give me a sufficiently satisfying explanation of this new taking BPs of patients. Apparently it isn't some kind of screening thing, but ADA and state guidelines say that different levels of dental procedures have different rules based on patient BP (e.g. above 140/100 they aren't even supposed to do a cleaning). And they need your BP to know whether they can treat. Dr. Johnson or his hygienist could have just said that. Instead we had this discussion about my PCP's monitoring of my BP rather than my dentist. He should have just explained WHY it was medically important to assess my BP before even a cleaning. Unfortunately Dr Johnson and his hygienist would only say things about "standards of care", Monroe Smile's clinical processes, how many hypertensive patients they identify, etc -- and never just explain that Monroe Smiles would be negligent if they did a even a cleaning on somebody with unacceptably high BP and something went wrong. There has been a pattern of arrogance and poor explanations in the 10 years I have been at Monroe Smiles --- so maybe it is a good thing to move onto a dentist where even the receptionist can explain things clearly. (She even addressed my privacy concerns). As I age I have become more diligent about researching and asking questions related to my healthcare rather than just blindly doing what I am told. Often this leads to better outcomes and a more successful interaction with my health providers. Monroe Smiles doesn't seem to be a place where this is easy to do. read more

This review of is long overdue, and I honestly hope in posting this to save someone else possible injury and pain in the hands of someone who should not be practicing dentistry. Early this year my entire family went into Monroe Smiles after some years of not going to the dentist. We all needed a lot of work done, and I did express that had previous dental experiences that left me hesitant and anxious to be worked on by a dentist. I was assured that the dentists knew what they were doing and would take great care of us. The hygienist with my initial exam did indeed make me feel at ease. I had a few things worked on and was talked through it all by Dr Padilla and staff and felt pretty good about it all. My second or third visit I had a molar pulled by Dr Padilla. I was nervous despite the prescribed Valium, and I should have listened to my gut and not had it done. Dr Padilla had a time getting the tooth out and told me over and over what a large tooth it was! Sent me home telling me to take advil. I woke with a very swollen jaw/face and called to beg for something stronger which eventually was accommodated-however no one in the office called to let me know that a prescription had been sent in to the pharmacy-absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional considering the amount of pain I was in. After a couple of weeks when the swelling had receded I began to feel a piece of bone sticking out from my jaw. I was seen by Dr Padilla and they assured me that it was likely nothing more than a bone spur. She talked to me like a child when she was describing what a bone spur was. Ridiculous. She got in there and it wasn't a bone spur. She said she wasn't sure exactly what it was and mumbled something about my ridgeline and possibly needing grafting. I ended up indeed needing reparative surgery that had a very long, slow, and PAINFUL recovery. I ended up taking advil for so long that I couldn't eat for 3 days because every time I did I got nauseous. I was never apologized to by Dr Padilla or offered a refund for the botched procedure or any compensation to cover the reparative surgery. The best I got was their COO saying that she hoped this experience wouldn't keep me from seeing other dentists in the future. A short time after this my husbands tooth abscessed under the crown that Dr Padilla had replaced in his mouth. Also causing him pain and reparative work. This dentist office clearly does not have your best interests at heart and is just out for your money. Don't let them sway you into thinking otherwise. Shame on all of you at Monroe Smiles. read more

The staff here were dishonest through exclusion of an important fact when discussing costs!!! My wife recently went in to have some work done and ended up paying somewhere around $130 for xrays and a cleaning... this seemed unusual but I chalked it up to her insurance being different than mine. When she returned for a crown they were quoting her TWICE what she should have been paying. After multiple calls we finally figured out that it was because they had been hiding the fact that they were not an in network provider for her insurance. This revelation only came after ASKING THEM DIRECTLY about this important little fact. We had discussed the high cost of the crown several times over multiple calls that day and they never offered even the slightest hint that they might not be an in network provided until asked directly on the third or fourth call. This could have been made clear when she asked them if they accepted her insurance, and could have been made clear yet again when we initially asked why the crown was so over priced. Eventually my wife went and had a crown AND a filling done for roughly half the price someplace else. When confronting the staff about their omission of this fact more recently when they billed her for what the insurance didn't cover they avoided the question entirely while reiterating the fact that they had "shown her the estimate" several times. Excluding important facts when discussing costs of a service speaks pretty loudly about the morals of the owners and staff. The staff seemed quite nice otherwise and the office was exceptionally clean and professional... It's such a shame their policy seems to be not to volunteer that they aren't an in network provider until you explicitly ask. read more

My cavities were filled without any pain and the appointment went quickly with the help from dental assistant Tiffany. The flow of appointment scheduling, reminders, and the initial visit was phenomenal. Kristi, was the best dental hygienist as far as detail, caring and proficiency. I was going through my first tooth removal - #6 (right eye tooth). Dr. Padilla helped me SO MUCH through the entire process, which wasn't easy for me. Her referrals (for extracting and post) were excellent. And in the end, I got an amazing implant!! It took 13 months, but so worth it. I can't recommend Dr. Padilla and her amazing team enough. I went in for increasing pain and left in increasing pain. The office and staff are nice but my issue was not resolved. I will not be going back. They told me I need a root canal to deal with the pain but left me in pain for the weekend. They gave me a referral to a place that's closed for the next week and that charges $350 more than the place I chose myself. Again, I will not be going back. read more

First visit and I can say, it held true to all the reviews. The lobby felt like home which put my kids fears at ease. Everything was very clean and modern. The staff was super nice. I was asked how much I want to be told about my teeth, which is the first time in 42 years that has ever happened! I learned so much! My husband has a dental implant which the cap just came out. We tried to search for the dental clinic that has a good review online and Monroe Smile is the first one we called. We called and explained what happened. First we were impressed that the receptionist try to schedule him in the same day. However when he got in , they let him waited for 40-45 mins before they asked for the "cap" to sterilize. (No one told him how long he has to be seated and waited... while another clinic told him when he can expect to see the dentist) The dentist, she didn't know what she need to do. Tried to screw in the cap but can't and gave up in 15 minutes. And of course, we've been fully charged for $96, can't explain what's the cost. Just said that we's just charged your insurance company. (Like we don't have to pay them anything.) Bad day happened. And you know what , when we got a return call from other clinic. She asked us right away what kind/brand of implant we used because they will check if they have tools to fix it. I waited until I'd had multiple visits before posting a review. I suck as a dental patient. I walk in anxious, bounce my foot constantly, and I'm white knuckles during a basic cleaning. I've had crowns and fillings done here as well as the basic cleanings. I've finally found a dentist and office and I really like. I'll never not be anxious but this team makes sure I'm as comfortable as I can be and they are very patient. There's no shortage of lip balm support if you're there being worked on for a while either. One thing to note is that not all dentists in this office are trained on the same-day crown equipment (yet). If that's important to you, make sure you ask for it specifically. Overall, this place is easily one of the best dental experiences I've ever had and I don't say that easily or lightly. I definitely recommend if you're looking for a new dentist. read more

I finally got around to switching dentists after our move to Monroe and was dreading the expected rural dentist experience. Needless to say I was shocked at the experience I had here. Top notch across the board. Luxury isn't typically a term I would use to describe a dental experience, but Monroe Smiles definitely fits the bill. I first chose Dr Jeremy Johnson's office because of the great reviews on Yelp. Now that I had my visit, I wanted to add my own review! I was a little nervous going in because I hadn't had a cleaning in 5+ years, but everyone was so nice & gentle. Emily, the hygienist, was really friendly and knowledgeable. She explained everything she was doing and why, it was interesting to hear! I like that they show you your X-rays and pictures on a screen in front of you & on the ceiling. She also gave some good tips on taking care of my teeth. They don't try to talk you into getting things done that aren't absolutely necessary. I had a couple teeth that could maybe be the start of a cavity but Dr Johnson just said we'll wait and keep an eye on it. That was a relief! Their office is brand new (new location) and the waiting area is decorated really cute! I'll definitely be recommending Dr Johnson to others, and I will be going back! I've been for years hunting down the best dentist where I can feel comfortable all around and satisfied with the work performed. Doctor Jeremy Johnson ans his team are really a gem. I always hope to find a place that when you walk in you feel like at home and not like the place is so fancy and cold that you feel as if they are all about money and business. Doctor Jeremy office makes you feel you are very important to them. They are truly careful, gentle, and he and his assistants explain to you what they are doing and why. I feel they are very honest. Doctors assistant called me two days later to ask me how I feel. And the true, is that after the fillings and lots of work, I feel as if nothing happened. Wow, what an amazing practice. The office is extremely clean, and esthetically pleasing. Not to mention it's super easy to find. The staff is both professional, and friendly. Each person I interacted with was happy to listen to my questions, and address my needs. I got along with the hygienist Christie, and would highly recommend her for cleaning. I spoke with about five people through out the whole visit, and their mannerisms and demeanor were all the same (friendly, patient, knowledgeable). I would assume this is a great place to work, which makes it a great place for people to visit for dental care. They have several little perks that my previous office did not have. 1. They use a tiny camera to take a photo of EACH tooth for their records. This makes it easy for them to follow up on exactly how your teeth appeared at a previous visit. 2. They have a great referral program which gets you money back, and a chance to win prizes in a raffle. And last but not least; a full mini fridge is available to you, stocked with all types of flavored water, and low sugar drinks. I have already set up for my husband to be seen here. I previously lived in Bellevue, and went to the smiles of Bellevue. I actually have no idea if they are related but this office is as fancy as something you would see in a big city. I actually really liked coming here despite their high costs because they seemed honest, which matters to me a lot in a dentist. Well, apparently I was wrong. I went in today for what I assumed was just a cleaning. I was told it was a cleaning, it was scheduled as a cleaning but then I had to pay $109 for a "cleaning." My dental insurance covers cleanings 100% so I just paid and figured I'd sort it out later. Well, it wasn't just a cleaning but they never made that clear up front. Had I known I was going to owe $109 I would have rescheduled. This is sadly a common thing with dentists and turns out I have yet to find an honest dental office. The search continues. read more

My visits to Dr. Johnson's office have been far better than any previous dental visits. I am not fond of going to the dentist but they have made it easy for me. Patricia and the rest of the staff I have seen have all been great and helped me feel comfortable. My last visit I had 4 (!) fillings done at one time. I have been going here for a couple of years now and I am very pleased. The staff is professional and Dr. Johnson is great. I have had everything from regular cleanings, fillings and even a crown done here. The equipment that Dr. Johnson has is nice. When I had my crown done, he was able to make my crown same day! I have always had cleanings done on a regular basis and my previous dentist had older equipment, and I have to say, the newer equipment makes a big difference. Cleanings are faster and the results are better too! I actually look forward to my appointments. The staff always makes me laugh and make my experience as good as it can be. Let's face it, the dentist is not really the most thrilling thing in the world and if you can find a staff that makes the experience enjoyable, there is something to be said for that! read more

I recently moved to the area from out of state and starting having some pain in one of my teeth. With the holidays a few weeks away, and plans to be traveling for several weeks, i was concerned that the pain might get worse while I was away. I didn't have a dentist yet, but was very happy to be able to get into Monroe Smiles after making a reservation on their website on Sunday evening. They scheduled me on Monday morning with Dr. Nader. The office is just beautiful, and the staff very friendly. Luckily, I had no major problems, but it's nice to have peace of mind before we start our travels. Dr. Jeremy Johnson has been my dentist for approximately 7 years now. I was referred to him by a co-worker who said he was awesome. Me, being DEATHLY afraid of dentists knew I needed dental assistance and I needed it immediately! Dr. Johnson and his staff were fantastic to me! He is a very personable dentist. To be honest I was pleased that he was so "down to earth", understanding and didn't make me feel uncomfortable or bad about my choice of not seeking dental care for a very long time. Dr. Johnson is a very caring dentist. After my very first appointment with him he called me the next day to see how I was feeling, which I thought was really awesome of him. My family moved to the area and needed a new dentist. I couldn't be happier to have found Monroe Smiles. I took my son in for a cleaning and we were beyond impressed with their staff and technology. The front office was welcoming and helpful in looking up our insurance info sans cards. The office is modern, cozy and high tech. Laura, his hygienist, was awesome and used a camera to show him his teeth on a ceiling mounted tv screen. My son was impressed and could see the areas that needed more attention himself without my nagging. On the way out, I asked to be seen for a crown that had been bothering me for days, I mean badly. Realizing I was in pain, they made time to see me the same day. Dr. Irwin was a life-saver! It took her seconds to diagnose my needing a root canal. She had the team refer AND book me an emergency same day appointment with a specialist in the area as it involved going through my crown. I just had my semi-annual cleaning with Emily in Dr. Johnson's new office. The office is updated, modern and one of the nicest I've seen. Emily is awesome explaining what and why she's doing various things. She gives recommendations to improve my home care. Dr. Johnson came in and after Emily pointed out a little "divot" in my front tooth, Dr. Johnson fixed it in 5 minutes at no charge. I've been to a lot of dentists over the years and I work in the dental industry. I live and work in Kenmore and can go to any dentist in King or Snohomish, or any other city for that matter, but Dr. Johnson, his staff and his beautiful new practice are the best around. That he appeared to have an abscess, was in a lot of pain, and would like to make an appt. That it was his intent to make Jeremy L Johnson DDS his dentist. I was told...sorry..the earliest I could get you in is sometime next week, call another dentist in Monroe. Apparently, this office is not seeking new patients! Wow....oh well...that was a good way to learn about the dentist I don't want to have before I even went to them. No Thanks! read more
